[LANDA] Note from PMs: Game Officially Dead

The website has been updated:
http://www.landa-systems.com/
with a note from the PMs apologizing for the game ending as abruptly as it did.

I'd sent a few OOG notes in the background, hoping for some response, one way or another.

Make sure to thank the PMs, Jordan L and Ben B, for their hard work to date - -sometimes it just isn't meant to be.

.W.

p.s. At least I can stop checking the site for updates. Smile

Thank them for...

just pulling open the curtain without bringing the game to an end? (a game should include easy outs at a number of intervals that can quickly be written to provide a satisfying conclusion. failing that it could be turned over to any of the dozens of people wanting to step behind the curtain)

making it yet more difficult to trust that a grassroots game will come to a successful end and be worth the investment of a player's time and energy?

ignoring the warnings of dozens of experienced pms as well as the dozens of failed games all of which prove that it takes a team of people behind the curtain?

Puppetmastering is more than hard work, it's a commitment.

While the main game failed to advance, the pre-game work was substantial. You don't think that deserves a thank you?

I agree that it's difficult when you've invested time into the game to have it crash and burn, but I can still appreciate the hard work in the first place.

Eh, more than anything, I'd say this sums it up: "For the most part, what we had was thought up on the spot and coded, at times, minutes before you guys reached the page Smile."

Now, I've not PM'ed before, but that doesn't sound like a good idea to me. And a glance through the PM Guide confirms it.

Imbri: agreed. As a past and future PM, it is hard work with comittment required. I do think that they were biting off more than they could chew with several websites and all. You want a larger team for thjat kind of thing, alonmg with ways that if an individual PM loses out on time, others can pick up on their slack.

that woiuld also explain why mild grassroot games such as Angels Wild and Tranquil Valley were sucessful to complete, due to that attribute.

Dont give up hope to try again guys. Regroup for coffee and talk sometime.
