INFO: Sarah's notes on the Hands of the Shaman painting

Passion posted her transcription of Sarah's notes that came with the Hands of the Shaman painting at CD. She also posted the original pages which I will include here.

Page 1

Here's the first of three pages I got
from Sam with the notes from Sarah
on her painting of Hands of the Shaman.
I've cut down the size of the images he
sent - they were over a 2megs each, and
will upload those in the files section.

One thing you'll noticed is that Sarah's
handwriting isn't as good on these pages
as the other and on the third page you
can see it trailing off. If you look at the last
page that went with the Tree of Life you'll
also note that her handwriting trails off
when she says she has to get to the other
painting.

I hope the formatting stays. I'm transcribed
this per line so it would be easier to follow
the page. Also, in the second to last paragraph
there is an "xxxxx" because I can't determine
what the words is and couldn't pick it up
from the context of the sentence.

Here's page one:

hands, but these hands are different.
No six fingers here, but even though
they are more "normal", they seem
less inviting, not as friendly. Still
can't see a face.

Ever since I started this painting
I have seen strange men around
this town. They all are marked
by the same symbol - circles
on circles, ten in all on one large
one. It reminds me of the stones
at the old home for some reason.
Father used to spend time there,
in the stone circles. I'd find him
there, alone mostly, and often sad.
Like I painted him. That same
look. Hamilton never had that
look.

The hands reach out, toward me and
beyond. The arms are marked with
symbols and numbers - numbers of
many languages. But the same "xxxxx"
in each one. The skin is pale
yet dar at the same time.

The eyes must be dark dead,
but full of mystery and secrets.
Like the blackness of midnight in the
Bogs. In them, somwhere, is the
shape of the mountain. Below it, is

men of science, scorning religion.
Science is the new religion. New
ways of deceit and evasion another
language to disguise the truth.
But these are the ones who have
taken so many never to be seen
again. Jealous of their secrets,
dangerous in their duty to those
above.

The old man of the Bogs said he
saw the marked ones prowling
the bogs last night. He wanted
to warn me. He called what he
saw a shaman or a spook.
Funny, isn't it?

I see the whole figure now - the
hands, the arms, the face. I
don't understand but he is a
shaman - that's the best way to
describe him. But he has changed.
His arms are now encircling the tree.
The spirals are on his hands
and his face has become a mask
of sorts. The numbers are there
too, hidden like so much.

I just {scribble} noticed that the Tree
in this picture is green and full of
life but in the Tree Of Life
painting it is barren. Strange.

is finished. That makes the whole
southern side I believe. Amelia
will be so happy.

That symbol is on the ground out
front this morning. Do they know
the picture is done? Have they
come to take me too?

I dreamt of these men last night,
servants of the ones above, they
had taken someone I knew, someone
I needed to help, but I couldn't
stop them. As he was led away,
Todd turned to me and said,
"Don't forget. Don't forget who you
are." I began to cry. And then
he said, "Don't worry. I will live
forever, remember?" And he laughed.
A sad, ironic laugh, the laugh of
the doomed. And then that rhythm started
tap boom, boom tap, tap boom, tap boom tap tap,
boom boom, boom, boom boom tap, tap tap boom, tap
I can't bear to look at the painting.
It must be put away and
that means the other as well.
Yin and Yang. Dark and light.
Both flawed in their own ways.
Missing so much.

I can't bear this burden. Not alone.
One by one they've all gone, all
forgotten. No one believes.
I don't believe anymore.

I found this and thought it was interesting

The roles of a shaman:

In contemporary, historical or traditional shamanic practice the shaman may at times fill the role of priest, magician, metaphysician or healer. Personal experience is the prime determinant of the status of a shaman. Knowledge of other realms of being and consciousness and the cosmology of those regions is the basis of the shamanic perspective and power. With this knowledge, the shaman is able to serve as a bridge between the mundane and the higher and lower states The shaman lives at the edge of reality as most people would recognize it and most commonly at the edge of society itself. Few indeed have the stamina to adventure into these realms and endure the outer hardships and personal crises that have been reported by or observed of many shamans.
