Wave 4 Box Coalition Question I was wondering if anyone had noticed an interesting trend in the new Wave 4 boxes (non-pure).
My friend and I both collect and so we decided to split a box and since we have NO PURE WAVE 4 boxes here in the US (I looked on every website and asked at every store) we picked up a non-pure box. As we were opening boosters we were extremely unhappy to see many booster had NO wave 4 cards. Once we had completely finished opening the box we realized that only 22% of the box was actually Wave 4 cards. On the positive side we received ALL of the Wave 4 Red through purple cards. Another interesting thing.... We received a total of 12 Silver cards from the box but not a single Black card came from the box (from any wave).
As we were missing a fair number of Silver cards we decided it would be prudent to purchase a second box. Since we wanted to support multiple retailers in our area we drove to another store for the second purchase. Upon opening this box we received NOT A SINGLE Silver card but instead an entire set of Wave 4 Black Cards. We still received a full set of the Wave 4 Red through purples.
Is this common or is this a coalition flub? I have not seen anything else about this one line so I wanted to ask here. Anyone have this experience?
Thanks,
Leslie

I don't mean to divert from the topic, but I went with Potomac Distribution for my pure wave 4 box. $128 US

So, from the early stats, it seems a good shot that 1:3 packs will have either a silver or black. My initial order of 8 packs from Firebox hit this, with 3 blacks, no silver.

I work for a game company myself and I do not like to purchase online. I am a very strong supporter of local retailers and none of my local retailers could order the pure wave 4 boxes through their distributors.
On average I do pay more but I have seen too many good game stores close in the past few years because they can not compete with online prices.

Just my luck - 2 boxes of blended 1-4, no silvers at all. Got all the purples but not all of the blacks - still missing three, and I needed both boxes to get this close.

the distribution on these is wacky.. I'm almost all the way through a box of 1-4, more than enough blacks (the one in three stands) but not a single silver... and I don't expect one in the four packs that are left.. (I'm sooo tempted to open more.. but the majority are already sold and are waiting for the post office to open tomorrow..)

32 packs of pure wave four, eight from a shop and 24 from an online retailer.
11 blacks, not one solitary silver. Oodles of red through purple, although one or two cards are quite rare - Bling Bunny, for example.

Glad to see I am not the only one with this issue. My biggest problem with the Wave 1-4 boxes is that a number of boosters had no Wave 4 cards. You would think they this being the new set you would at least want 1 wave 4 card per booster.

now I'm seriously wondering what is going on... I just opened a pack and the last card in the pack was upside down... (orange)
then I opened a pack with TWO blacks in it.. (whipsmart birthday and we be rational pirates)
I'm opening from a factory sealed box from a factory sealed case..
still no silvers..

so you're telling me that out of an entire box, containing 4 different waves of cards, you got just under 25% wave 4s? why am i not amazed at this?
as for silvers and blacks, i really am sorry for you, but they are RARE. they are *supposed* to be rare. if you read the little explanation on the back of the reds and oranges (and im sure you have plenty spares) you should be able to understand this completely. I'd be willing to bet that the numbers of reds and oranges you got, added to the numbers of blacks and silvers you got, was roughly the same as the number of yellow through purples you got?
me? i bought 4 packs and got 1 black and 1 silver and only 3 dupes. they are the only wave 4 blacks and silvers i have, and i'm pretty happy with that. way i see it, you spend silly money on boxes of cards, you're bound to get silly amounts of spares for your efforts...

I agree with you here, but I think we're all assuming that these are packed like all other trading cards (I know I was) in that there were certain odds (ie black in every three packs, silver in the sixth) most if not all trading cards/tcgs follow this format (holo every three packs, puzzle card in every four, pieceworks card one in thirtysix, autograph card one per box, sketch card one in a hundred fourty four.. etc..) what I think most of us fail to realize is that Mind Candy is NOT a trading card company, and therefore the rules don't apply..

Well all this means only one thing to me.
The distributions are random. Instead of having a ratio of say 1:3 packs either silver or black, maybe they just have a number of cards. For example they may have 10000 of a silver and 100000 of a red, with 300000 packs to fill. Change the numbers to suit better, but the idea is the same. What strikes me is that other trading card games have a more predictable distribution, leaving me to only conclude that either they have some gnome who works at the printers and works out which cards to put in which packs or they are as random as can be?
