I'm going to guess that the CRE is actually CREPES. Mmmmm...

The engraving shows what the Greeks called the sanguine humour, blood. The characteristics of this humour include courage, hope, and amourousness...

Another interpretation:
Quote:
Knight, Death and the Devil, also known as The Rider, represents an allegory on Christian salvation. Unflustered either by Death who is standing in front of him with his hour-glass, or by the Devil behind him, an armoured knight is riding along a narrow defile, accompanied by his loyal hound. This represents the steady route of the faithful, through all of life's injustice, to God who is symbolized by the castle in the background. The dog symbolizes faith, and the lizard religious zeal.

I'm not sure what to think about the Templar thing yet... The cross is quite blatently apparent in that first postcard anyway. I hope this doesn't become a Da Vinci code type thing...

Oh - on the Knights Templar tie-in:

The pentacle is associated with the Templars(trout?)

When the Templars were siezed on Friday 13th October it was on the orders of the French King Philip IV and Pope Clement V. The trip to the vatican could have been to do some research in to what happened to the remaining Knights or any things that were in the posession of the Templars at the time.

So is the good doctor a Templar? Or is he researching the Templars?

Since we are talking about the Templar Knights I thought it interesting to point out that we will have our own Friday the 13th in just under three weeks.

Now I see it's modern greek, not ancient as I thought. So I can only help superficially with that.

But the engraving really makes me think it's modern alchemy what the doctor is dealing with. The humors were often used in the alchemical treatises about the body. The branch of alchemy that tied in with medicine was looking as an ultimate goal to achieve eternal life. Our good doctor seems capable of being involved on that.

I think he either want us to find him, or he's getting careless, in wich case I'm afraid we're going to be looking for AV without his help-

Not at all. Smile Normally I'd tell you to Search, but this is one of those terms that you'd get thousands of results for, none of which would actually define it for you. And the glossary is, alas, missing a lot of key definitions.

But, for future reference, the handy dandy trout icon Trout actually links to a definition. Just click it. Smile

ETA: Oops, it doesn't appear to have the link anymore. Shocked

Yes, I've been having exactly the same problem - and it does indeed seem to be just the dr's page which is suffering. But you can pick up the videos at http://pathlab.blogspot.com

Jochen hasn't yet responded to any of my further questions about his background, but I still want to gnaw away at this apparent coincidence in his name. I really want to know whether its a red herring or not!

Jochen claims to be 36 on his Youtube profile. He never knew his mother, but claims that his father brought him up until dying of cancer in 1976. Or rather, that is what he was told by the people who took charge of him subsequently. He would have been six years old when his father died.

Joachim 'Jochen' Peiper left Germany for France in 1970. He died in Traves, France, in 1976, killed in an arson attack on his house. He had received a number of clear death threats before the attack and the attackers are believed to have been French Communists. No one was arrested.

Jochen is an unusual name for a Frenchman. In my correspondence with him he has claimed that it is a family name (doctorjpjr is his Youtube nick - Jochen Peiper Junior). The name matches, the dates match.

If there is no such thing as coincidence, the question becomes: is AV related to his father's killers? If so, is AV an ally or an enemy of his father's killers?

The problem is that there is no historical record of Herr Peiper having a son in France. He did have a son in Germany, Hinrich, who is now thought to be living in the USA (not sure of his age yet)

Heya

Well, you can count the pony as in! Just wanted to say that though I've been a lurker for quite some time, I decided to register because I think here I may be of some help as to the cafe location.

See, I used to live in Seattle, and went to coffee shops a lot. This got me to thinking about skylines, and the whole debate as to which skyline this is. I also replayed the cafe tape and decided that I found a clue. You note that the Dr. is sitting there with coffee (or a latte, whatever), the window says smoothies, and the yellow bar above the cafe says "crepes"...well, I'm assuming it does, it's half cut-off. All of the cafes I've been to have advertised on their windows or menus, but never above the actual counter like where the "crepe" thing is....unless it is something they specialize or is part of their name.

Therefore, I think that (ya, I'm probably wrong, but what the heck) this is part of the cafe name. There is a Crepe Cafe in Seattle, there is also a Cafe Crepe in the same city. It seemed too coincidental, because the interior of Cafe Crepe looked a little bit like the one in the vlog when I went (and they could have changed it over the years I think). He also says that the coffee is great, another clue pointing in the same way. Also looked up above ground graves for the area, turns out they will do this if requested...though I still like the Louisiana ref. much more. Additionally, Crepe Cafe is known for fine wines..there appears to be wine bottles (or syrup bottles?) lined up near the counter...am I grasping at straws here? I mean, the other word on the side almost looks like the tail end of espresso....

So just thought I'd throw that in. Sure, there's no space needle in the pic, but he wouldn't make it that obvious, now would he?

Additionally, though again grasping at straws, this looks a little like the outskirts of New York (with the repeating of a couple skyscrapers in the middle)

Anywho, I'm tired and am going to bed.

Thanks Pony and welcome! Well, watching the video (for the 10,000th time), when he shoots to the front of the cafe, at :18 seconds in, you can see what looks like the name of the cafe/coffee shop/place - In the photo he sent, you see "CoCo" on the coffee mug. I see what could be CoCo on the awning sign. Being familiar with the area, do you recall any coffee shops named CoCo that specalize in crepes?

In looking for something in the Washington area I stumbled across this website, where someone gave a review of a Coco's (that conveniently doesn't seem to have website), and there were several similarities - Down to the owner being Moroccan! Of course I'm sure that it's just a coincidence, I thought I'd throw it out there.

http://blogs.chron.com/cookstour/archives/2006/03/ Read the "Adventures in Sidewalk Dining"

Back to searching, I emailed the Dr. yesterday letting him know of our finds and haven't heard back yet...

That's quite persuasive and would place him in Houston - not sure the buildings on his skyline photo really fit that.

It would be an interesting twist if Jochen himself is of Algerian or Moroccan descent!

Meanwhile, I've been looking at the most recent Greek text. The initials at the beginning of each line spell Kpmk - which is a chemical synonym of Beta carotene, which gives carrots their colour, and the envelope is kind of orange which means AV IS A CARROT!!

I almost fell out of my chair laughing!!!! (Not to mention the strange looks I just received from my co-workers!!!)

Ok, just had some more talks with the Dr. For those following, it looks like this is taking a Lonelygirl15 turn, with the Thelema/Crowley references...

It is very odd but that is what I have come to expect. I am very happy that it seems to have stopped. What is the book of law? I would think laws and the Gospels are in alignment with no line between.

I have heard of the Knights Templar. They were very rich and powerful and then they were killed. We have much of that in Europe. I would have to be very old to have made them Angry!

It is all a mystery isn't it? I think there is something interesting about AV whatever it may be. Please tell your associates to be careful. Please also be careful yourself banana. You must keep a low profile if you get close to AV.

It is so beautiful here today. I hope to take more photos but I have much work to do. What is your profession?

I am too glad that it seems to have stopped - but looking into "The Book of Law", I stumbled across this, a book written by Aleistar Crowley:

"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
The study of this Book is forbidden. It is wise to destroy this copy after the first reading.
Whosever disregards this does so at his own risk and peril. These are most dire.
Those who discuss the contents of this Book are to be shunned by all, as centres of pestilence.
All questions of the Law are to be decided only by appeal to my writings, each for himself.
There is no law beyond Do what thou wilt.
Love is the law, love under will.
The priest of the princes,
Ankh-F-N-Khonsu"
I don't think I need to look any further than that to feel "warned". Yes, we will all be safe - hopefully whomever this AV is, they have given up on trying to find you for whatever reasons... They are mysterious though, and I would like to find out more about them.

It is rather chilly here today. You must go out and take more pictures! Especially if you're somewhere where the trees turn as fall comes - The trees here are just beginning to change, and it is so beautiful!

I am a Training Coordinator, it's rather boring - compared to what you are working on, I can only imagine what it might be Smile

Be safe,
Ang

I think (and I could be wrong) that we have been given enough from the Dr. to find AV now - ardiente, you head for the produce section, I'll search the frozen veggies Razz

Edited for spelling
Edited again for the Dr.s CREEPY response

Yes you told me about your training work. I must need more coffee. I like the morning but sometimes I stay awake late at night thinking. So I am tired a lot!

I have never read "The Book of Law" but it sounds interesting. Can one buy it today? Why would a person write a book if the study is forbidden? It is very frightening when I think about it. Perhaps this AV is kind of insane. I am happy to be out of Europe. There are dark things there. Did you see this story http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-2369783,00.html

I wonder what power is granted from this practice?

It is very nice here. Cool, maybe 21 Celsius but even cooler this morning. It was very hot just a day ago!

I must work now. Sorry.

He seems quite fascinated by religious power...

ardiente wrote:

If your name was Jesus, it certainly would not imply that you were the son of a deity, but one might be forgiven for suspecting that your parents were Catholics! Jochen is an unusual name for a Frenchman, unless you came from that part of the country that borders Germany, I guess. But my feeling is that you are a Parisian, perhaps from the west side. Ville-d'Avray? Someone who drives a C6 is probably from the better side of town

I used to work in France, in a small village just down the road from Cahors. I remember driving down from Calais, and the thrill of driving round Paris late at night, on an empty periphérique, listening to the radio stations fade in and out as we drove by the various arrondisements. French, Arab, African - both London and Paris share this valuable, cultural legacy from an otherwise painful imperial past. However, my knowledge of French rap is a little passé, so I couldn't identify the tune playing on your café video!

I am interested in your relationship to religion. You rejected the priesthood for science, but you seem drawn to the 'power' of religion. The Da Vinci quotation you use as a signature has quite strong christian overtones. This has drawn me to a new interpretation of the circular images that came feom the postcard you sent us. Do you know of the Greek word 'Omphalos'? Its possible that AV does.

Jochen wrote:

Yes perhaps my logic was a bit flawed. That can happen to even a scientist! My name is not French since my ancestors come other places but unfortunately I do not know where.

The place I am at now is not at all like France except for the traffic which reminds me of the periphérique! I also do not know the name of the music. The cafe owner plays much French music but some is outside of my taste. The crepes are not so good but the coffee is good when they use a good bean. It is better than a "happy meal"!

Religion for me I do not know how to put in words. There are many things outside of science. Very much power. This is religion. But when science knows this power it will not be religion anymore! Omphalos I do not know it. It is Greek to me!

He's still evading any questions about his past - I don't think the character really knows too much about it. This doesn't sort out the name coincidence yet, so I'll just have to put it all together and present him with it. See what happens...
