Sylvia,

First of all, a few people have told me that my little package arrived safely, and that's certainly good news. I'm truly sorry to involve you in all of this on such a personal and hands on level, but I really didn't have many options left. Something told me I could trust you anyway, and that your earlier offers to help in any way possible were sincere. I appreciate all the help and support you've given me over the last couple of months, over and above what I've just recently asked you to do by sharing this burden with you. It's crazy to think it's been that long but, on the other hand, in some ways it feels like a freaking lifetime ago since I stumbled into my personal version of Weird New Jersey. And it's time I told you the rest of the story, the one thing I've been conveniently leaving out of all my earlier explanations about what I've been through.

OK, things are about to go down. I'm perched on the outskirts of Aglaura, in an old motel in a small town not too far away. Like I mentioned before, there's one thing I need to do yet, one mistake I need to fix before I can wrap this all up and be done with it. I'm tired and this old man isn't going to run much longer.

When I left Weirdsville, NJ those weeks ago I only left with 5 of the 6 masks I had found. Yes, I dug up six masks, at the locations that I marked out on that 307 symbol and map, but I left one of them behind before I split. Actually, I gave it to someone - that girl, Meaghan.

I know, I know, believe me - if I'd known then what danger it could put her in, I never would have done it. But I had no idea how deep the shit I was in was at that point, and I didn't dream that somebody could seriously be after the masks. Later, when I realized how serious this was, I thought I could keep anyone from realizing the truth by keeping the goons chasing me, on my tail, thinking I had all 6 of the damn things with me. After getting rid of the 5th one though, it started eating me alive that maybe I wasn't being honest with myself. Maybe I was just running 'cause I was scared. How else could I leave Meaghan with the mask, in even the slightest chance of getting hurt, instead of going back there and getting it and dealing with this thing myself.

It doesn't matter anyway, can't change what happened in the past, can I? It's time to make it right, instead. You can help me in a couple ways.

One - keep this quiet. The last thing we need is the goons getting wind of this before I get the mask back from Meaghan. You can't tell anyone, understand? It's going to happen in the next day or so, so just be cool.

Two - once I take care of that and am sure Meaghan is safe, I'm going to ask you to do one other thing, something critical to helping me put and end to this once and for all. Because of what's at stake, that's all I can say right now, but I'm pretty sure I can count on you.

Keep your head down. It's about to hit the fan.

KM
