Who should play The Joker?

According to this...
http://www.filmwad.com/heath-ledger-to-play-the-joker--712-p.html
I might be dissapointed in the next Batman movie. Which doesn't suprise because that would mean the second generation of Batman movies would be just like the first. An amazing first film, a slightly worse second, and then its all downhill from there.
I just can't, even in a wild stretch of imagination, picture Heath Ledger in the Joker's makeup.
This leads me to the reason for this thread. Calling All Batman Fans! Who do you think should play The Joker?

I will start with my picks.

First, Philip Seymour Hoffman. Combine Dusty from Twister and Davian from MI3 and I think we have a winner.

Second, Steve Carell. Nuff said.

Third, Jack Nicholson. Why not?

Nathan Lane for The Penguin!
Jack Nicholson for The Joker!

I can see Steven Carell as the Riddler
I love the idea of Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Joker

Jessica Alba or Rosario Dawson as Catwoman

ahhh, i'm so dissapointed!!! Batman begins was so serious, i long for the tim burton silliness... that and well, I was waiting very patiently for the Harley Quinn story line that had been rumored for about 4 years now.... Oh well.

I thought Batman Begins was the best in the franchise! And the soundtrack was awesome, too. Smile

I can actually see Robin Williams as Two Face more than any other character.

Only one person can possibly ever be the Joker in my eyes. Mark Hamill.

Please tell me Im not the only one here who loved Batman the Animated Series in the 90s.

From EW.com, an update:

"But, wow, with Philip Seymour Hoffman rumored to be Nolan's (as yet reluctant) pick for The Penguin, will there really be any room for another villain? I can feel a showdown coming in the air tonight. Oh, Lord."

http://popwatch.ew.com/

Well, maybe that will work...maybe.

My fiancee also thinks the Hamill could do the joker on film, with a voice that people enjoy in the role, and frankly an unfortunate and intriguing face:P

Philip Seymour Hoffman

I would vote for Philip Seymour Hoffman to play any role that he feels like playing. He is a profoundly gifted actor.
