where?

I don't think anything need be read into the accent of the woman. She doesn't sound like an old woman either. Yellow cars has been emphasized twice now though.
Maybe the most relevant aspect of the woman is that she is speaking English. Certainly this greatly reduces the area in the world that Combed Thunderclap might be talking about, adding in the yellow cars and the steam and the cold for the winter time (which probably leaves out Australia and NZ). I still think that NYC -or a major American City of that climate is the best guess. I understand that yellow cabs are not used in the UK.
I know someone mentioned the phone cubicles not being correct for New York. I guess we need to keep an open mind until we get more information.
I too wondered if there might be something more we are missing. This doesn't add too much to what we had been told before. Actually, it seems to contradict the update from two weeks ago when we were told CT didn't take the Cube, it took him.
So now I am back to my original spec that CT had to know about the theft and planned to be there so he could get the Cube. I base this on Claire Castille's assertion that whoever took the Cube had to be that sort of well-known ARG anti-hero - the uber hacker. Given that, CT accidentally falling into it seems less likely.
Sadly, CT seems unable or unwilling to give us a straight answer. That had charm in the first page - which was lovely - by now it is starting to grate and the website itself seems more aggresive. (though CT spent some time learning his flash while waiting.)

My spec on the way I read it was that the phone conversation was the cube talking to the person.
Like the cube was manipulating the technology as this person passed in order to communicate.
"And Gyvann said, 'Doubt not that the cube speaks, or that its voice is heard'"

so I'm watching this for the umpteenth time because I didn't know the woman spoke.. I got the ringing phone (enough to piss off my sister..) but missed the whisper.. anyways.. whoever this is knows that they're speaking (only) to people of earth.. "I'd done some research and you're not so different"

Well, the woman in the recording was definitely not a New Yorker. She had what I think was a British accent of some sort (I'm American so please forgive my ignorance of British accents). Of course, that doesn't rule out the idea that she may be a foreigner in the city, but it really doesn't seem likely.
I'm from Chicago, and work for a company that supports diversity. Many, many of my co-workers do NOT have Chicago accents. So i don't think this proves that the city isn't New York.
In fact, I don't think the woman's voice tells us ANYTHING about where CT was when she arrived on Earth. 'Cause I doubt CT has been wandering around with a recording of some woman she met on the street for a few mere seconds. This leads me to think of several possibilities:
1) The recording was machine-generated.
I think this is possible. Perplex City is more advanced than us, so I can easily believe that they could generate realistic-sounding speech.
2) The recording was made by someone CT is in cahoots with.
Again, possible--we don't know if CT is working alone or not. Personally, I learn towards her working alone, but I'm open to the idea of her working on a team.
3) The recording is of CT herself.
If CT was working alone, then she'd want to work in secrecy, so easiest to just record the file herself.
(And just for the record, I've been thinking of CT as female even before the recording. I have a dear female friend who goes by the initials CT, so can't help but think of her. )
Now, regarding Dissolution (the card)--yeah, it immediately came to my mind when I saw the title of the page. I remembered it was a yellow, but didn't recall the details until AtionSong was kind enough to link it. What I find striking about the card is this:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The symbols only lasted a few seconds before they were washed away, but I managed to figure out what they meant. They might be of interest to you
That leads me to believe we were meant to do something with the information from the card. I don't see a thread in the card forum for Dissolution (probably because it's an easy card)--has anyone tried doing anything with the card's answer?

Here's the link to the card thread...
What I remember about this card:
1) The solution is a string of numbers. (Phone-No. ?)
2) People were speccing that the guy on the left (the smoker) might be Sente...

Thanks. I did try searching for it, but obviously did not use the correct search terms.

invitation card CT says "I planned it." We are assuming that CT put the message on the cards "I stole the Cube. Help me. Combed Thunderclap."
I am thinking that it is possible that CT put the hidden message on the Invitation card - the one that gave us the initials of each member of the Cube Theft team - and that the "Electric Splash" refers to whatever he did to take the Cube just before they got it.
I wondered if the Electric Splash somehow temporarily affected whatever equipment the Cube Theft team was using, causing a disruption that lasted long enough for CT to take the Cube. And then, of course, the Cube magically took CT to Earth.
I am also thinking that if CT knew the contents of the cards it is reasonable to consider that the use of "dissolution" intentionally refers us to that card. I don't think that the title "dissolution" goes with the contents of this update - I mean - why call it that?

Dissolution code Hi there,
I tried entering the code from card 70 Dissolution at:
http://perplexcityacademy.com/libraryofbabel/49037589
but no joy. Received an 'Object not found!' error page from the PC Academy.

Actually, if we're looking for a major North American city, NYC seems about the best choice.
Yellow cabs are not used in many US cities. I know that both Boston, MA and Philadelphia, PA use mostly white taxis. While there might be a random yellow taxi somewhere in each of the two, there aren't enough that someone would notice those versus the much more plentiful white cabs.
Maybe people with experience with other major cities can chime in on how many other cities have yellow taxis.

We have a lot of different taxi companies here in Chicago, but one of the major ones is the Yellow Cab company, which--you guessed it--uses yellow taxis. White is very common, too, but if I was going to catch a cab, I'd be on the lookout for yellow cars.

I've not seen anywhere with steam rising from grates here no (so not Melbourne ), but we do have yellow taxis, and believe it or not, it gets cold here in the winter too. Even snow, in some spots.
Sydney has a train system with some parts underground, anyone know if there's steam type grates there? I've only been in Summer.

Sorry, I think the point rose was making is that the cube was stolen in January and, we assume, moved to earth instantaneously, which would mean that it was only winter in the northern hemisphere.
