Yeah, Peter Jackson is the man behind the Neil as it were. Neil, Peter and WETA = quite an awesome team here. I'm fascinated to see what Neil can do with a studio like WETA at his access, given he's the mind behind the dancing citroen ad.

With Wingnut interactive too, I think it might be something other than a game although Jackson still seems to be in ideas mode at the moment. He was on a press conference with the Greg Zeschuk and Peter Molyneux about the future of gaming at the recent X06 conference. All three basically had the same idea, they all want to create a world for the player to get involved in that isn't just a simple A to C via B. They want to give you the game world and let you be a part of it. Even if you're in it to kill stuff or a complex plot. Jackson kept mentioning to the other two that he didn't have the experience in gaming that they did but he agreed with their direction and that he wanted to see if he could do something else with the same end result.

Having said that, I do think it's a long way off and will probably end up tying into the movie.
