New Spock Mail, June 13

I'm a lurker here, and not totally involved in what's going on, but I figured I'd post this e-mail since no one else has yet. I don't know how many of you actually received the e-mail, since it was only addressed to seven of us:

From: "Spock Vulture" <mu_nin@hotmail.com>

To: cerulgalactusSPLATlivejournal.com, deny_n7SPLATlivejournal.com, enderSPLATlivejournal.com, glitterbitsSPLAThotmail.com, ktnbSPLATlivejournal.com, nihilisiaSPLATyahoo.com, screamingSPLATmuted.com

I've almost caught up with him this time. I'm lying in wait, staking out his resting-place.

I found the calling cards he left for us. The Henkel Press came first. Trying to remain unobtrusive while rooting around beneath an artifact was somewhat difficult, and exciting. I stuffed it down my shirt without a glance and then ventured deep into the stacks before studying it -- and thank goodness! I haven't laughed that hard in centuries. The postcard depicted a bird, lying on its back dead. The message written on the reverse side was... interesting. He appears to be leaking his influence across the psychic spectrum, and Rahne is picking up on it. I put that one back for you, confident that none of you will bother to look deeply.

The note he left for me was next. It was scrawled upon the same kind of postcard: "put a girdle 'round the earth; you cannot catch me, fairy man."

Things begin to return to him, but does he even realize it?

A Midsummer Night's Dream
~Shakespeare~

SCENE I. A wood near Athens.

OBERON

That very time I saw, but thou couldst not,
Flying between the cold moon and the earth,
Cupid all arm'd: a certain aim he took
At a fair vestal throned by the west,
And loosed his love-shaft smartly from his bow,
As it should pierce a hundred thousand hearts;
But I might see young Cupid's fiery shaft
Quench'd in the chaste beams of the watery moon,
And the imperial votaress passed on,
In maiden meditation, fancy-free.
Yet mark'd I where the bolt of Cupid fell:
It fell upon a little western flower,
Before milk-white, now purple with love's wound,
And maidens call it love-in-idleness.
Fetch me that flower; the herb I shew'd thee once:
The juice of it on sleeping eye-lids laid
Will make or man or woman madly dote
Upon the next live creature that it sees.
Fetch me this herb; and be thou here again
Ere the leviathan can swim a league.

PUCK

I'll put a girdle round about the earth
In forty minutes.
