** PERPLEX CITY: THE BOARD GAME, NOW ON SALE! **

Perplex City's newest product, the delightfully shiny Board Game, is now available to buy for just £24.95. It's a thriling game of synapse-sizzling puzzles, as players dash around the map of Perplex City throwing down puzzle challenges to their opponents, collecting puzzle stones and eventually claiming a glorious victory of wit and intellect.

There's also a fun new puzzle-trail you can try out, hidden across Perplex
City's many websites. It starts at the board game website, which can be found, along with a competition to win a *free* board game of your very own, at:

http://perplexcitytheboardgame.com/

The game will be available from plenty of stores in the near future, but is currently available online from Firebox, who happily enough ship worldwide! Behold:

** EXTREME PUZZLING CONTEST IS GO **

Following the fantastic entries to our recent Video Competition, we've been inspired to create an all-new contest by recent events in Perplex City - where Raoul Benton base jumped from the top of the Ascendancy Point skyscraper, all while attempting to solve a tricky puzzle during his descent.

So, we're asking you to capture the Extreme Puzzling phenomenon as it exists on Earth - whether through video, audio, photography, writing, or anything else in-between. You've got one month to concoct something fabulous, and naturally, we'll be lavishing prizes (and points!) upon those who submit the most exciting and creative entries. More info:

** YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED **

After a couple of videos (which will be returning soon, fear not!) we decided it was time to *properly* answer all the questions you've been sending us over the past month or so. If Perplex City sometimes leaves you confused, these definitive answers might just help you along:

** STORY UPDATE **

Violet and Scarlett (with some remote assistance from Kurt and Caine) have been exploring the abandoned Lancewood labs - where early Cube research was conducted. The Cube may even have been built there during the War. But the girls' exploration was cut short by the arrival of a dazed soldier who attacked them. His mumbled, disoriented ramblings suggested he had been the subject of an experiment using some kind of teleportation device - based at Viendenbourg. He died before they could get any more information out of him, so the girls are setting off for Viendenbourg to investigate further...

Meanwhile, back in the City, the Council election campaigns are gathering pace. Camryn Scott has been losing ground to the alarmist Nathan Earlywine, whose calls for tighter controls on the Academy have found popular support.

** LEADERBOARD UPDATE **

Tally at Number One? Oliverkeers13 in second place? UKver2.0, MikeyJ and Guin sitting in 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively? Whoever would have thought it?

Still, aceaysar has earned 8516 points in his first week and might just cause an upset one of these days, while goldberg69 is 11989 points to the good having started his solving three weeks ago. Fast work! You can read all the latest leaderboard news in The Sentinel every Monday. Here's the latest article:

** BONUS NEWSLETTER PUZZLE **

Last week, we asked you:

What's the only number, which when spelled out with Scrabble tiles, the tiles sum up to that same number?

The answer? Twelve! Like so: 1 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 4 + 1 = 12.

And well done to those who sent in solutions using the blank tiles - your lateral thinking continues to amaze and astound. This week, and in a similar vein:

Which 12 element names can be spelled out using chemical abbreviations of elements?

Until next time, happy hunting...

Mind Candy

= = = =

PS: This is rather clever stuff: http://gabbly.com/perplexcity.com

The Extreme Puzzling competition sounds like fun. Smile I'm also very excited about the Chicago Cubefest. Yay!

Okay, it's more than a little weird to see my name in the Newsletter.

That said, I hope to see as many of you in Boston as can make it tomorrow!
