NaNoWriMo
(Inter)National Novel Writing Month

Not a timewaster per se...but if you want to write a novel but never follow it through, this site can help. It is basically a site and forum for people who want to write a novel. The objective is for you to have written 50,000 words in November. You have 30 days to accomplish this in. The forums are really useful and give the support needed to finish a project of this size.
Check it out.

Isn't 50,000 words a really small novel? I thought the average novel was 80,000?

Yeah, I guess so. Wink Maybe I'll try that this year, if The 4400 ARG dies down. That seems to be taking up all of my time right now.

By the way, it is only on through November, not after, unless you wait a year; and October is recommended for planning your novel.
