Thanks for the links SB. Just looking at that site now, I notice that there was some kind of a chat yesterday regarding planning. any chance of getting a log of that?

Also, I'd been checking here for info on updates about the Fest. Is there an RSS feed for the argfestocon blog that I can pick up on LiveJournal?

Thanks

HOTEL! WE HAVE HOTEL!

Ok, granted, we've had it for a while, but it's now completely official and you can register and get the special ARGfest rate of $125 + tax... a great deal for a hotel in the heart of San Francisco tourism!

For those that missed it before, the official ARGfest hotel is the Holiday Inn at Fisherman's Wharf. There are actually two Holiday Inns within a block or so from each other and one of them even has suites for those of you that want to share a bigger space.

To get the rate, you will have to call. It has not been set up online. The phone number is 415-771-9000 and be sure to mention that you're with unfiction.

To repeat...

Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf
415-771-9000
"unfiction" room rate is $125 + tax

Doh! I already have a reservation at $140 per night. I'm willing to redo that at the $125 rate, but I still have no roommates. If someone needs an extra person, I'll just cancel my reservation and throw in with someone else's room.

I've added a section on the wiki to help organize roommates and accomodations, based on comments here and in the attendees list. Hopefully that'll help things a bit...

That one number is good for reservations at either hotel?

And the suites are not that much bigger, as far as I can tell from the descriptions.

As far as I know, yes. If someone tries to reserve through that number and is unable to, please please please let us know.

Be sure to ask for "Group Sales" when you call. Reservations can't help and can't transfer.

I FINALLY GOT TO CAROL IN GROUP SALES. SHE SAYS THAT WHILE GROUP SALES NEGOTIATED THE CONTRACT, THEY DON'T DO THE RESERVATIONS. PER THE CONTRACT, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO CALL THIS TOLL FREE NUMBER AND MENTION "UNFICTION":

Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf
800-942-7348

(EDIT: BRIEF PAUSE WHILE GROUP SALES NOW EXPLAINS WHO WE ARE TO RESERVATIONS BECAUSE THE GUY CAN'T FIND OUR GROUP...)

OK FIXED FOR THE REGULAR HOLIDAY INN. $125/NIGHT

THERE IS NO GROUP THING FOR THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS. OUR BLOCK OF ROOMS WITH THE DISCOUNT IS AT THE FULL SERVICE HOLIDAY INN. YOU CAN STAY AT THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS, BUT IF YOU GO THERE, NO DISCOUNT - THEY MENTIONED $199 A NIGHT FOR THE SMALLER KIND OF SUITE ALTHOUGH THE WEBSITE SHOWS THEY'RE ABOUT $170. (OR THE FAMILY SUITE AT $249/NIGHT.) SINGLE ROOMS APPEAR TO BE ABOUT $160/NIGHT.

There may also be a requirement that we fill a minimum number of rooms at the first hotel in order to get our meeting space, so hopefully everyone is as cheap as me and is going for the discounted rooms so we won't have to worry about that.
