Has Space set up a hompage for argfest yet? Wink

I really hope I can make it... time off shouldn't be a problem, even for a whole week, but money's the main issue.

There's a basic site and wiki up with which to get started.

Starting to gather roomies

I'm starting a Sammeeeees room.
Champagne and Friends of Peeps shirts.

I don't snore. I don't smoke. I'm planning to arrive on Friday morning and leave Sunday evening.

As soon as we have a headquarters hotel, I'm making reservations for a big room!

So far chixor & RedHatty are signed up. Cool

Sorry it has been a while since the last you heard from me. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered and to everyone who is planning to attend!

I plan to have an update before Monday morning of the location of the event, the confirmed speakers, the possible speakers and maybe some other stuff.

I have been wondering:
1. Anyone want to volunteer to help run a game of Cruel2Bkind (or another street game) ?
2. What do peopel think about videotaping events as much as we can, with participants written consent, of course, and then putting them up on youtube?

Cruel 2 B Kind would rock. I can volunteer to help with this if need be.

The best part of this game is not knowing who exactly is playing, so maybe we could have this game on that Friday sometime to sort of kick off the festivities? Just an idea.

Damnit

This is right in my backyard and I am going to miss it due to me being in Boston for a LARPing convention and I promised I would go to in Sept (actually in June)....grrrrr

I am upset, maybe 2008 I will actually be able to travel to an ARG event.

Ok- I know everyone is waiting but I am still trying to find the best deal on a hotel for us. I've enlisted the help of the convention planners in San Francisco who are confident they can get us a better deal. But very very soon we will have the hotel and conference room.

We're definitely on for Cruel 2B Kind.

Now for a teaser of confirmed speakers:

Jane McGonigal
Brooke Thompson
Krystyn Wells
Sean Stewart
Steve Peters
Kristen Rutherford
Brian Clark
Dave Szulborski - pending availability from another conference
Evan Jones
Sean Stacey

And more to follow!

ARGFest-o-con T-shirt design contest!
Submit your ideas

And now the ARGFest T-shirt contest.

Your mission: to design a T-shirt for ARGFest San Francisco that uses SpaceBass's Sphere of Chaotic Fiction as a design element.

This image is a basic idea but feel free to tweek it to make it shinier or work better on your shirt.

No, I'm not joking. I love the Sphere and I think it will draw attention from other people on the street.

Do we need a slogan too? Submit one and inspire us.

Prizes will be awarded!

Deadline January 31, 2007 at midnight EST.

That's a nice list of speakers. I'm thinking, though, that in addition to PMs (design) and SpaceBass (community management), it might be nice to have one of the editors of ARGN -- Jonathan Waite or Jackie Kerr -- so there's a news/writing angle there as well? Have they been asked?

For some reason I am having trouble copying and pasting a quote with Firefox - anyway, no worries, I have invited other people including Jamesi and Scrappy - it depends on their availability to attend.

 More Ideas
Some more thoughts for activities the weekend of ARGFest

I just finished reading Cathy's Book, and ASIDE from the cool link with that book, it would be fun to head over to the Musee Mechanique, and possibly even to the Pampanito.

EDIT

Since no one has responded here yet, I'll add some thoughts.
I agree that a game of Cruel2BKind would be a lot of fun, but it really should be at the very start of the Fest-o-Con. Part of the fun is having to use your kindness on total strangers because you JUST DON'T KNOW whether or not they are playing. If we all get together before the game, then we all know exactly who we are looking for.
UNLESS, we open the game up to anyone who wants to play. I know from previous games with Jane that she knows a fairly wide group of people who might be up for a game. Think about it.

I'm in ur ARGfest-o-con, playin ur games!

1. I'll totally be there.

2. Weekend before sounds best to me, too.

3. Rose is arranging a few minutes for me to talk about death-defying ARGS from the FUTURE! (or did she mean that my talk should be death-defying in and of itself? hmm...)

4. I hear a rip-roaring Cruel 2 B Kind game is being organized. Rock and roll. I also saw imbri's suggestion for Tombstone Hold 'Em, which could also be arranged, with more real TH'E chips to give away (still have some)...

FINALLY, I insist we have a Werewolf night. Ask hmrpita, ariock, zudini etc for why Werewolf night MUST must must happen...
