there are people trying to collect one of every isis, so they are hard to come by. if you have an isis eagle, well i believe this to be the easiest one outh there.

the only difference is the maze the BB has to travel through.

Harder version!
Found

After several emails to sonic warp i have finally got them to send me a harder version of the ISIS they are calling their improved internal maze "maze 10" not sure if this is the same in the US. Although even though i keep hearing that people have had difficulties with their corispondance with SW i found them very helpfull. Im only getting it so i can take part in the Platinum pryamid challange in April. I'll let you know how i get on.

HEY for all you out there who are pissed off at this thing heres an easy way to solve it, no maze required.
hold the puzzle upside down in you hand (plunger down) and make sure the bearings are quiet. then quickly and forcefully ark it up and turn to come down onyour other hand or a table quickly so the bearings cant fall out of the groves they are in when it is upside down. ( this step is similar to when you swing a bucket of water upside down without water falling out)

you should then be able to shake it rightside up without and noise.
when this is accomplished turn the top counterclockwise about a centimeter, till it stops you, the turn forcefully clockwise and it should just unscrew.
*IF IT RE LOCKS DURING THE UNSCREWING< JUST REPEAT THE FIRST STEP AND CONTINUE TO UNSCREW[/spoiler]

Charlief222,

i have tried your method lots of time but have not been able to do it-the bit im stuck on is turning the isis rightside up , but with the ball bearings not making a noise. how did you acomplish this?

Rolling Eyes PLEASE HELP Rolling Eyes

charlief222's method has become known as the bucket method. It does work. I had to use it once (after I opened it the right way) but I used a slightly different approach. Instead of swinging the Isis so it lands plunger up I kept it upside down and hit it on the bottom of a table.

You have to get the timing right and apply torque to the Isis halves as it strikes the table. You will have to do this a few times because every successful strike will allow you to unscrew the Isis one half of a turn.

Scroll down in that thread and there are some good instructions for resetting the Isis. Be careful! You don't want to lock it forever!

Is anyone interested in selling their ISIS?

It doesn't matter if it has been registered and solved. I just want one for a mantle piece so it needs to be in perfect condition.

Thanks in advance.

Questions about ISIS...

I just learned of the ISIS and was thinking of getting one. I have a few questions, tho... if someone is willing to help me out.

Can you buy these (retail) in the USA? Or only online (UK)?

Are all the models of ISIS the same? For example... if I buy the "Prize edition" of the Isis puzzle and complete it, will that count toward the ongoing competition in the same way as the original "classic" ? (are all the ISIS puzzles the same for that purpose?)

What does it mean when you "register a gold or silver coin" against it? I noticed this verbage when looking at the Platinum Pyramid challenge.

Sorry for the newb questions... just trying to get a general idea of what these puzzles are about and what to expect if I get one. The answers may already be in this forum, but I am deathly afraid of spoilers. Smile

Thanks for any help,
SF

Re: Questions about ISIS...

There are a few North American shops that sell the isis, but mostly all online. the Isis puzzles are different on the outside as well as on the inside. depending on when your puzzle was made the difficult of the internals can vary dramatically. mine took me about 65 minutes to open, so it was a little disappointing, then again i think i got the "super easy" version. theres no telling what you will get. all isis balls are equal in terms of the Sonicwarp compitition.

for each puzzle you buy from sonicwarp, after opening you will be given access to an online section, if you pay their monthly fee, and be allowed to try and decyipher their clues wich may lead you to a pyramid containing coins. you are allowed 1 coin per opened isis. these coins are gold or silver in color and will grant you a small prize from sonicwarp.

i believe that if you are interested in the sonicwarp series, you visit the forum at isisadventure.co.uk/forum however i think you will discover that sonicwarp has no quality control or customer service. even there on their own forum you will find many complaints.

if you want a real high quality puzzle and a competition that is actually acheiveable, i suggest you check out revomaze.com. these are premium puzzles for a fraction of the cost. and check this out, sold in over 18 countries and not one complaint about the puzzle yet!

This has probably been asked before, but this topic is so long.

Does the SonicWarp website ship/sell to the US? Do they take US credit cards?

Also, I've heard that there were US versions and UK versions, is there anyway to know which version you'd get from them?

Yes they do ship to the US. I used paypal to purchase mine, but i believe i had the option of using a CC. either way, setup a paypal account and you have all kinds of payment options.

there appears to be a new "US version" but i dont think theres any difference internally. theres just external differences. there are about 16 different internals for the isis I puzzles. these used to be trackable based on the external designs. this is no longer the case.

On a side note. if you want an awesome quality metal puzzle from the UK, take a look at RevoMaze.com.
