I posted the email in the yshkLanti emails thread, but from my correspondence today with our friend, I've learned that "linguala" does not equal "language", despite what it sounds like. The phrase I was asking about was "Linguala di Lanti," so since he didn't deny the use of "di" there as "of", perhaps we can go ahead and declare that "di = of"?

With regard to nukedog's speculative translation, I agree it does sound good, but I suggest we take a conservative approach to updating the lexicon (which I've now moved to the wiki, by the way, so anyone can update it) since our friend has repeatedly warned us about making assumptions, and an incorrect assumption at this point (i.e. with only a few words in translation) may lead us even further astray in speculations based on word order and so forth.

But yeah, I like that translation. One thing, though, that second sentence should begin "There were three kinds ..." We don't know if the Lanti were sticklers for grammar, but that's how it should read -- assuming still that Lanti is a one-to-one substitution for English. Of course, vyl could be both singular and plural.
