Hank just emailed me... I'm putting it over in the Hanks Blog thread http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17109.

P.S. I know I'm knew here, but at what point would a new ARG like this get its own section so we can keep things organized?

dunno if this is at all relevant but there is a red line coming from washington dc on the google earth image and it would if it had continued gone all the way to bermuda just going over the co-ords

Pretty sure that's just the line from the "District of Columbia" text bubble pointing to where the DoC is.

Now this is odd, something I just noticed on the website...

Quote:
Lanti vyl p shantilan

A non vowel single letter word? Thats quite impractical in an actual language.

Yeah, there's a single j in there too. Then again, there's also "mshn" and "srk" -- the whole language seems to be short on vowels really.

my overwhelming enthusiasm

I follow ARGs from a distance, usually, but this one got me signed up at Unfiction. Not sure why. I found myself sitting at work in front of the forum, refresh, refresh, OOH A CODE DECYPHERED, refresh, refresh, do some actual "work", refresh, do a search, I FOUND HANK, refresh, refresh...

And of course the whole time I can't actually sign in because the confirmation email would go to my home address... but that didn't stop me from sending Hank an email from WORK, which is dumb because I can't access that email from home... so I sent him an appology note from my home addy, thus wasting the PMs time... Rolling Eyes

Getting a grip on my excitement in 5, 4, 3, 2, nnnnnnnNOW!

Language appears to be Austronesian, at least some of it. I googled the word atunama and came up with a definition of sorts which was lightning...not sure how right it was. While looking over the site i found I noticed that the word was listed beside two Austronesian languages. Bwaidoga and Diodio. Another word I googled fell under Bwaidoga as well. Not sure how much of it is of this language since I don't know the verb conjugations but it's a start. Oh, ishka appears to be Austronesion, not sure what for.

Letters missing from the new page at 746865656e64.com/ are what led us to /curiosity, so maybe that'll be a similar situation? Anyway, for some words that appear to be consonant train-wrecks, we do have a pronunciation in the original yshklanti.mp3, so maybe there is some way to pronounce a single j?

i'm starting to think this does have something to do with Atlantis. Plato was the first to describe atlantis and the face in the background of the trailhead looks alot like plato.

if hank found kendra at sea, the nickname "Water Baby" would make alot of sense.

one last thing, Atlas was the first king of Atlantis. could that be the king that the curiosity page refers to?

http://www.sacred-texts.com/atl/index.htm Atlantis-related texts. I'm trying to find some more.

Regretfully I havent been able to find a decent site with atlantean-related languages, most sites are funky religions with strange ideas.
I'm still looking to see what I can find.

Edit: I just found this site: http://members.tripod.com/grahamjmabey/index.htm No dictionary, but a good 'description of the language' (for the description page see here http://members.tripod.com/grahamjmabey/Languages/Languages%20-%20introduction.htm).

hello folks..I still haven't had the chance to catch up...it was a long day at work...but I still believe this is a language created for this game...it has similarities to all sorts of real life languages, but I'm betting this is going to be said as some of you have guessed, an Atlantean language....

Atlantis has not even been proven to have existed, and although I believe it DID exist, I highly doubt you are going to find a certified Atlantean language because of that....

What I would suggest is that we try to figure it out as if it is a newly discovered language....how would we go about that?....Yes, you can make comparisons to other languages, but when you do that, you risk mistranslation..

You would have to assume, that if the person creating this language was actually trying to make it seem authentic, then they would model it after the oldest known languages....Most early languages used pictures (like Sumerian - cuneiform, Egyptian - hieroglyphs)...But, later written languages were developed....

Plato, the father of the Atlantis stories, was Greek....on the original web page, we saw the random home row keys in Greek lettering...

So, how do you take a language and work backwards? hmmm...let me ponder a while...

All this is sheer speculation, so any other input would be welcomed....

I fear though, that if we continue to to search for a real life language to match this, or decode it based on our own language, then we will end up with another Voynich Manuscript ......I don't think that is what we want.....

The language does not seem to be atlantean

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
(Rollover to View):

From: http://members.tripod.com/grahamjmabey/Languages/juralicvocabe-g.htm
ENGLISH -> JURALIC -> ATLANTEAN
end, conclude, finish (v.) --> urg- -> enturg
end, conclusion, finish (n.) -> urg- -> enturgeso

atlantean isn't a real language, at least one that we know. There are probably dozens of constructed versions. I don't think that ours can be found on the internet via a search. I think we'll have to translate this the old fashioned way.
