7:15 pm Rahne and I have hit the road. I couldn't tell her, but I had to get away from there; I knew there was something hunting me. For once it wasn't a long wait, crouching in the freight yard bushes; we staked out a good, deep gondala car with a high railing. In less than an hour we were being carried away, with no control over our destination.

Rahne eschewed a hobo's knapsack for an athletic gym bag thingie. She brought her digital camera. I hope it doesn't get broken; I don't think she realizes how often you throw you bag on and off moving trains when you're hopping.
