I kind of thought that the emails were leaked from Mind Candy, and not the Academy. Although they originally came from the Academy, I rather imagined these things were at some point (by some gremlin perhaps) sent to MC, then sat on some machine there, and were somehow triggered off by solves completing card sets.
My main reason for thinking this is simply: as far as I know, the Academy has nothing to do with the solve pages and the "yay you solved a set" bit, they are MC creations. Thus it makes no sense (to me) if a machine somewhere in the Academy is told of the solve, wakes up and sends some random message.
I have no idea if that makes any sense to anyone, or if it's a reasonable explanation, but it seems feasible to me

That would make sense. The leak already having occured and the contents getting spilt to people as they solve puzzle cards. Makes perfect sense, actually...

But we won't take this lying down. Earlywine will eventually learn what every Council Leader has had to learn - it's impossible to control the Academy. The Academy is Perplex City.
Reading and re-reading this makes me think that if Kurt is going to try and keep communication channels open with us, as the Academy is "impossible to control", we ought to be looking at the Academy website more closely.
I've already tried the obvious /Kurt, /pathofleasttime, /path_of_least_time, /backdoor, /redundancies/failsafes/backups, /backups/failsafes/redundancies, but with no joy - maybe I'm just wrong!

Yeah, tried a bunch of stuff too. No joy.
Are we missing something really obvious? Should we just wait for the Receda's Revenge 2 to play out?

I've just started to get into what's going on so I'm playing catch-up...
For some reason, I'm drawn to ask why french is being used...
In the story so far perplexcity says this about kurt's blog.
Quote:
"That means no more blog posts, no more uncensored communication... is this goodbye? Or just au revoir?"
Isn't that the same thing?
If it helps, the path of least time translated into french comes out as:
"le chemin de moindre heure"
Does this mean anything to anyone?

Hello I don't envy your trawling through the back catalogue, but every fresh pair of eyes is a bonus!
I think I'd have been more worried if he'd said "adieu". I think it's right that "au revoir" is said to someone that you expect to see again, but "adieu" is more final. Which is nice to know really...come back Kurt.
Not sure what to make of "le chemin de moindre heure" I would translate that as the shirt of the world hour. Which says a lot about my language skills.

Bilingualism to the rescue!
To begin, "Au Revoir" litterally means "I'll see you again."
Also, "Le Chemin de moindre Heure" is "The Path of less hour." If you
translate it litteraly.
You were looking for "The Chemise de monde heure" Mikey.

Firstly Au revoir is "to re-see" (voir: see, re: repeat = see again) which is commonly confused with Good Bye. Au revoir is easier to say than 'is this goodbye? Or just see you soon?' and most people know that au revoir is a leaving phase but not its true meaning.
Secondly the expression "The Academy is Perplex City." is proberbly due to the involvment of the Academy in everyone's life. Their world is based upon puzzles and the academy provides them. We have nothing like that on Earth. A place that is the center of everyone's society. So Kurt is saying that controlling the Academy is controlling Perplex City's Culture and Society.
Thirdly Kurt himself said there are no holes in the firewall. "There are no backdoors and no routes around the firewall. It's monitored around the clock and has redundancies upon failsafes upon backups.","That means no more blog posts, no more uncensored communication...". I expect the only people who can still communicate are the Third Power.

Maybe we're not supposed to do anything.

I'll see you soon. You'll know when the firewall is down.
Should we just sit back?
Also, interestingly, this entry is listed on the Perplex City main site under the 3rd Power category...[/quote]

After I read "You'll know when the firewall is down", I had a feeling that we would know because something bad was going to happen.
Call me pecimistic, but that wording gives me a bad feeling.
