Wow that blog does sound sort of fishy...

And what gets to me is the style of writing. It's so prim and proper, like someone is writing a story rather than just a journal entry. I dunno, that's the vibe i'm getting anyway.

So, I said I would tell you guys about Eric's apartment. When the police arrived there, almost a month after Eric disappeared, they didn't find any hidden cameras. In fact, they didn't find anything useful at all. No fingerprints, no hairs, not even anyone else's DNA - it was if the entire apartment had been completely swept of all evidence.

All of the doors and windows were locked. The trash had been taken out. Every dish had been washed and put away, as had every article of clothing and every sheet in the apartment. The walls had been freshly painted. The carpet had been professionally cleaned. The bathroom was scrubbed to a shine, and the toilet paper rolls had been changed. Eric's computer had a new hard drive installed in it; even his email accounts were deleted. The list goes on and on.

The police said they had never seen anything like it before.

And it gets even more bizarre. All of this would be a huge job, right? But no one -- not the landlord, not the neighbors, not even the police who patrol that area at night, saw or heard anything unusual during that month. The mail was taken out of the mailbox everyday. The rent was paid in cash. The lights were turned off in the apartment. No mysterious figures were seen coming or going, no idling cars were seen outside, no loud noises were heard from within. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true.

There was only one item deliberately left in the apartment, and it's the reason why I think the sunflower has significance. This was what the police found on Eric's floor, lying just inside the entrance to his apartment:

We still have no idea what it means. The reason I haven't told you about this before is because it was part of an active police investigation, and the police specifically ordered anything not released in the public domain to remain out of the public domain, in case it could compromise the investigation. But, the fact that we still haven't solved it, and the fact that the sunflower reappears in latest puzzle, led us to release it now.

Any insight you could give is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Tried to solve as a cryptogram, with each letter sequence representing one letter. No dice as one word. I tried splitting it by taking out the middle ZFSQ. When that is done, the first word has only two options: APOLLO or CAREER. So, probably looking at something else.

Been follwing THP and reading this thread for a while. My first time to ever post on here though Wink.

Some thoughts on the codes:

They look somewhat like numbers... If you shift all the letters (excluding the first letter) forward by 1...

12066000254. Could be an "anagram" of a date/time combination, say, 2006/10/06, 2:45? Have I overlooked any significant dates?

... And not too sure why the 0 and the 4 weren't spelled correctly when I shifted...

I think I got the last letters and how the sunflower ties into this.

It seems the CM may be using the Fibonacci number sequence to do this.
The Fibonacci numbers are the way a sunflowers petals are arranged. Check out wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunflower read down and click through on the link to the numbers.

Basicaly,after two starting values,each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers. 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=5, 3+5=8 .....................

0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, ......................

Rot numbers backwards (or as negatives)

Wow. How the sunflower ties into all that is just genius!

In this case, perhaps the 13 on one side is "the right place" (Also a Fibonacci), and the numbers on the other side give us "the right time"?

Oh, and is the meaning of 8:32 figured out yet?

The digits add to 26 = 2 x 13 by the way... but I think that's reading way too much into it lol.

Another stupid number trick- 8:32 looks like a proportion-- it reduces to 1:4. One out of four? One in every four? 1:04?

I wikipedia-d 13 and learned that thirteen is the fourth lucky number (please don't ask me to explain the mathematical process of coming up with lucky numbers) and that it is also-

-The number of participants at the Last Supper
- Counting both Judas and Matthias, there were thirteen apostles
- Thirteen was once associated with the Epiphany by Christians, the child Jesus having received the Magi on his thirteenth day of life.

Eric's father seemed to make it a point to specify that the numbers were for addresses and that there were holes in them. Could something be in the holes? (I watch too much CSI)? Or, could they literally be giving us an address? What is in apartment 13???

Fantastic work guys. Logging on this morning to find not only a new clued but a solved new clue is breathtaking.

Sue Hart - googling her name so far only comes up with a Real Estate Agent and a jazz singer, both based in California but both seem like genuine websites, so prob OOG. Oh, and another Sue Hart who was a vet working with the Adamsons of 'Born Free' fame.

In other words, I'll keep looking Wink
