Email Phyllis and the EOS Team

Dearest Sunny,
I apologize for not writing to you last night. I sat down at my computer
intending to do just that but instead I got caught up in reading again the
first email that Dale sent to you and his diary. I had some difficulty figuring out how to make the diary work but I just kept clicking everywhere until I think I got it all. I feel like my brain is on fire. This information, arriving at the same time as the EOS team, has sent me into an acute emotional state. My reactions are extremely complex and even at odds with each other and I need time to organize my thoughts about Dale and his wish before I attempt to present them to you.

Now imagine if you will my state of mind as I waited for Iris Page to arrive. I decided, as you all did with me, not to tell her about Dale's wish. I felt I would have trouble enough convincing her of my sanity without pushing the limit of her credulity with that aspect. It took all of my self-control to master myself when I saw the EOS team pull up in front.

I watched them from the front window of the shop as they got out of their car, a petite young woman and two gentlemen. I went out to greet them, thinking to myself, Iris Page looks like a teenager; this can't be right. But, when I shook her hand, the sunlight revealed her to be in her early thirties, perhaps. She was very casually dressed in jeans but wore a very nice shirt so she didn't look slovenly. She has long brown hair and was wearing it up in a ponytail and that added to her youthful impression. She isn't a great beauty but neither is she plain. I had expected her to be a bit spooky considering her line of work but she seems very normal and I found that reassuring.

She introduced me to her colleagues by their first names only. Both men
appeared to be in their forties. Chris is very tall and thin and Iris explained that he handles the setting up and monitoring of their equipment. She said they would just be doing a walk-through today. The other man is named James and he is very muscular and has an outrageous handlebar mustache. Iris said that he is a "wiz" at identifying entities and researching a way to deal with them.
I invited them into the shop and felt extremely anxious and a little
embarrassed. I blurted out, "They're hiding from you. The cold I told you about has been retreating all day and there hasn't been a thump or a bump since last night. I swear everything I've told you is true. They're trying to make me look like a fool."

Iris walked over to the counter and placed her hand on the "floating maiden." Her face became rigid and her eyes changed in odd way that was rather unsettling. She spoke in a deep monotone, "You are worried that I will not believe you. You wonder about your own sanity and worry what the neighbors will think. Don't worry, we would not be here if we did not believe you completely and with all our hearts."

Then she seemed to snap back to attention and gave me a brilliant smile. I felt somewhat much better and gave her a map of the town with the graffiti occurrences marked on it. Then, we started a tour of the house, leaving the shop and stepping up into the dining room. Iris had what I now realized was another trance episode and said, "A dual entity, a man and woman. They want you, everyone, out of this house."

I began to speak and James held up his hand and said, "No, let the impressions be pure." I wanted to say, Amelia and Hamilton, obviously. So it went. In various rooms, Iris went off into her alter-state and intoned. In between, we all chatted normally and by the time we got upstairs I was feeling more relaxed and at ease with all of them. She encountered two more "entities" as she calls them. In the guest bedroom where Douglas has been sleeping, she sensed a little girl with "darkness around her." But, her biggest reaction occurred in the upstairs hall where all of this began with the self-determining light switch. There is a bathroom there, directly as you come up the stairs, and when I
opened the door and she started to enter she went very rigid all
over. "Darkness," she said, "A portal." James took her by the shoulders and pulled her back into the hall. She looked quite pale and I was very concerned, I tell you. She took deep breaths, the color returned to her cheeks and again she gave this smile, a sort of flash of triumph.

Just as I was opening the door to Douglas' home office, I heard the door
downstairs opening and closing. I felt like I'd been caught with my hand in the cookie jar, so to speak, and shoved everyone back to the landing. Douglas was coming up the stairs but he stopped and glared up at all of us. I tried to introduce him properly but he just cut me off saying, "Phyllis, I told you I don't have time for this nonsense." And he practically knocked Iris aside as he barreled through to his office. He stopped at the open door and said, harshly , "Have you been in my office? Have those people been in my office?" "No, dear," I told him, "We only looked in." Douglas sent me a warning look, went in and slammed the door behind him.

I was mortified with embarrassment and apologized to them all for his crass behavior as I led them down the stairs. It was simply inexcusable. Iris took my hand and pulled me outside into the sunshine, saying, "Mrs. Willingham, Phyllis, don't concern yourself about that. If he is under stress, it's perfectly understandable. Now, I wish to ask you something. When we come back tomorrow, would you mind if we place some equipment in the three rooms I noted as we walked though? There was the back bedroom where the child was, the couple that are down in your dining room and that..." Here Iris paused as her expression changed for a moment. "Phyllis, I would suggest you do not use that bathroom at the top of the stairs for a while. If that... energy is as dark as I feel it to be, you do not want to be anywhere near it. And, if you can convince your husband to join you at the Crown and Rose Bed and Breakfast, I suggest you pack and leave before we start to work."

Of course, I agreed to the equipment but, I told her I seriously doubted that I would be able to convince Douglas to leave the house. Besides, and I didn't say this to her, I would really like to watch what they do. It was rather fascinating watching her go in and out of contact with these energies. In parting I urged them to visit the Library and Wes' shop and suggested the Aglaura Diner for dinner. Iris grinned and laughed, "I know ol' Wes from way back. What a guy!" That surprised me a bit.

They are coming back this morning and will really get to work. I hope I can get their help in searching the house as well. If there is anything hidden, it might be a clue to assist our "quest." I didn't broach the subject of leaving the house with Douglas. Last night, I lacked the self-control to even look at him.

I will write more this evening if I am able.

With great fondness,
Phyllis
