[360] Halo Wars New Halo game for X-Box 360. Halo Wars is a new real time stratgy game.
This RTS has some great screen shots and the trailer is amazing. Just thought I would put this out here for any of the Halo buffs in this forum. Its a step off to anyone used to the first person shooter but this should add something new to the storyline. Also it might give our fingers the need break they need.
Check it out for yourself at http://halowars.com

I think Halo will be the next big sci-fi franchise, following the steps of Star Wars and Star Trek. There will be Halo for the next 20 years. The only difference is that there is no single man behind it. look at all the genres of entertainment it has touched:
-Video Game
-Online Multiplayer Game
-Sci Fi books
-Movie
-Graphic Novel
-Comics
-RTS Game
-Alternate Reality Game
-Soundtrack

I kinda get the feeling, though (can't really cite anything off the top of my head) that Bungie sorta wants to put Halo to bed at some point.
Of course, all this new stuff sort of belies that, in a way, but I know I've heard them talk about storylines and finishing and stuff in the past.

I think Microsoft smells that as well, and is probably why they are slowly but surely moving Halo away from Bungie. I'm pretty sure the IP is owned by MS, and the top Bungie guys will make more money than they ever dreamed of. I see Peter Jackson as the mastermind behind the Halo wave, so he'll eventually steal/buy it from Bungie.

Makes sense. Bungie doesn't want to make Halo games forever, and they're probably fine with taking a backseat to developing halo games as long as they can still input on story considerations.

It's being developed by Ensemble Studios, who were bought up by Microsoft during the success of the Age of Empires series. They do some nice real-time strategy (at least, I think so. I <3 AoE and AoM.), and would certainly handle most of the gameplay/campaign aspect, using Bungie Studios for Halo Bible tidbits and continuity, as it's sort of a jump back into the past (to the audience).

Yea, you'd be bored too if they forced you to work on the same thing for going on 8 years now. Last week was the fifth anniversary of Halo, but the game was in the works for 3 years beforehand. It's a great story, but could you imagine reading the same and only book for 8 years in a row?
