 		[ARG?] Instituto Purifica
The first real ARG Made in Brazil? Or just a viral/parody?
Hi people. It's been a while. Been out of time. Still am, actually, but i HAD to submit this to you. Even if (and I hope you won't mind) this "thing" (I'm not 100% sure it's an ARG jet, even if after today's events I'm quite convinced it is) is Brazil-based and all in Portuguese, so probably of little to no interest/usability for the most of you.

A couple of days ago (Oct. 7 being the first spotting) a weird promo aired on MTV Brasil, our local branch of the well-known tv network. Asettic, hyperclean setting, with a plastic-like man talking about harmony, absolute well-being, peace of mind and a future without conflicts. The site, at first glance, had me thinking if this was a legit ARG launching, or some kind of parody of, let's say, The Lost Experience (a whacko institute, the graphic identity of the site, the logo, the oh-so-peaceful man, even the sound is tremendously similar). So I submitted my email, had a look around, and stayed put; but it HAD to be an ARG, since there was already some kind of puzzle in the site (try clicking on the "E" in "BECA", just ander the logo, top left corner).
So I waited. Until today, when they emailed me.
The first email, "Purifica News #01", carried less more than the acknowledgement of my interest, a minimal of info on the Instituto (nothing not already seen on the site), some background info and names that will pro'lly make some sense later when put in context, and the

phrase "Bem-Estar Coletivo Absoluto",
which was already in the tv ad and gave us the obvious solve for the BECA puzzle.
Once solved, it just gave us some more generic info on the Insituto, and unlocked some desktop wallpaper to download; no further clues apparently.


The email did not appear to contain any other clue either, so I just took the sender email address (contatoSPLATinstitutopurifica.com.br) and gave it a shot: generic, in-theme letter, asking for peace of mind and stuff and, of course, for more info. Looked like the better way to try.
They replied almost immediatly.
A brief message, pretty much telling "You will be graced with the knowledge you seek, but only at the right time" (ok, it was written a lot better in Potuguese - actually, writing quality looks quite high so far), plus, at the end, like it was a signature, this :

Which, as far as I can see, may be seen as:
nebula = no meaning in Portuguese else than the latin-derived, scientific/cosmic/newage-ish meaning it has in English also;
Alberto Dias = a very common first name and a very common surname in Brazil; maybe the individual writing to me on behalf of the Instituto?
zeroum = Zero Um = 01 = maybe at the Instituto (which sounds quite cult-like when you think of it) they're all named Nebula Alberto Dias and use a number to identify themselves?



Ok, so far that's all I have; I should say "we have", since there's a local online community already on it, about 30 members at the moment, most of them apparently lurking and, I guess, all of them real virgin newbies at ARGs.
So:
1) if there is any Brazilian or Portuguese here at UF, please join us!
2) if any of you, from anywhere in the world, know a bit of Portuguese and/or is willing to deal with what looks like a funny, well-realized and not-so-hard ARG (if it is one - don't blame me if it turns out to be something else, or nothing at all) created in a very easy, got-it-at-a-glance foreign language, just jump in here and we'll do it the good ol' UF way. Wink

Some guys recieved an email saying something about Herman Obina = Ninhar Ao Bem, also, some others recieved /Herman Obina saying somethings about consonants.

Yes, I've seen that. I just wasn't updating here because, well, after the initial post there was no response so I assumed that nobody here at UF was brazilian and/or interested.
I've been following the orkut community, but in the last two days it has became pretty much unusable, too many clueless newbies posting crap and the worst signal/noise ratio ever.
Following thru UF would be SO much better, but I'm afraid it's just the two of us.

well, one I've accessed the link http://www.institutopurifica.com.br/hrmnbn/ a prompt, just below the statement "the man is not born pure" appeared. The name that follows in the spoiler was typed and then some "top secret" information appeared.

Type "Herman Obina" in the "rede_2" prompt. It will show information about some project they are in, a new unit set in a public building in Brazil, ah... something about the "party"... Creepy!!! But read it fast...


So I have to say: from the first time I watched the commercial I thought it HAD to be some ARG... Or else the world had just gone insane....Pheww....

hi there.

just saw what seems to be the second ad. the plastic man blabs away the same Purifica nonsense (quite freaky).

RTZ just made its way into the narrative as some sort of Purifica hunter.
