Well, being Evil and all and having Jonathan as a friend, you should probably try to send it back to him.

Maybe he'll remember some weird text he has seen on an archeology dig.

Then again....he might just be as confused as we are Smile

We have seen messages like this before, them seem to say a lot but it not really the case.

And I'm glad Hye and RedHatty didn't post the translation, they are usually faster than I am Smile

I guess I didn't mean "map" - more like a diagram or schematic of a tomb or temple, perhaps? I'll start looking.

I did receive a message from Jonathan:

Quote:
That seems like the hopi prophecy that was written on a stone tablet we found at a dig just last month, except that the stone was broken off at the bottom and the text was lost. Strange though, I dont know who i have betrayed

My reply:

Quote:
Well, there was more -

"Take the path
Use each door once
to lead me home
you'll be half done "

This was more obscure, we finally found it this afternoon. Does that, or the diagram itself look familiar? Where was this dig at?

ETA - just an interesting link:
http://www.wolflodge.org/bluestar/bluestar.htm

Edit2: Jonathan just told me the file was corrupt:

Quote:
The dig was in Arizona. The diagram, i dont know, but it makes me feel like ive seen it before. The words at the bottom might be a solve for the puzzle though. I just thought id let you know though that EVA sent me another diagramn and said that the one before was corrupted. The new version is on my blog.

His blog has been updated...

Reply was
Quote:
the temple of Inti

their god of the sun

a temple in cuzco

on a mountain perch

Mountain must be Machu Picchu

The temple should be Coricancha

Machu Picchu and Cuzco are two different Incan sites. They're near each other, but they are different. But you're right about the Coricancha. Alt spelling: Qoricancha

Machu Picchu very near Cuzco (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machu_Pichu#Location)
and Coriancha is actually in it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coricancha)

Isn't Coriancha the likely single answer to both parts? Um, is it on a mountain perch?

Coricancha is in Cusco, which is about 70km away from Machu Picchu.

I think Lucy is right that the answer is Coricancha, but i just want to make this little clarification because I think it's important. Cusco and Machu Picchu are two different places.

Cusco was the capital city of the Incan Empire. Legend has it that Inti ordered his children to carry with them a golden wedge and to build a city on the place where the wedge sank into the ground. This is believed to have happened in Cusco. Thusly, ever year thousands of people flock to Cusco to worship Inti, the Sun God.

Macchu Picchu, on the other hand, is seen as a refuge for the ruling class. Although it has three sites dedicated to Inti, it is not the location most associated with the Sun God. Also, Machu Picchu seems to contain celestial observatories, which would be most helpful to the Incas at night, when Inti wasn't in the picture.

The person who started this thread is Jonathon...on his new blog the "map" was placed by a Photobucket account, with the account being called "cl1432", which was the threadstarters name. But the file was called "doors2", so the image is a door of some sort. The URL is http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p98/cl1432/doors2.jpg

Well it seems that we have an impossible to solve puzzle, at least without some very creative topology used in our imaginations.

See http://www.mazes.com/puzzles/5-rooms/index.htm for the reasons it is impossible

and

http://www.mazes.com/puzzles/5-rooms/cheating.htm

for methods to cheat the puzzle

I knew there was something wrong with those 5 door rooms. So we are left with two options: 1) that Jonathan is THE DECEIVER and all information and riddles gives by him should be treated with suspiscion. 2) that the puzzle is less about the maze and more about something else on the page.

The second option is borne out by Jonathan's new blog-post:
Quote:
Perhaps the symbols, on the puzzle, i dont know, but i think ive seen them before. Mayby if i knew the meaning.....
Of course, this info also comes from Jonathan so it doesn't necessarily contradict option 1.

Anyways: The black circles with the lines beneath is from a french gypsy system and means "people here regard gypsies as theives.'
The crescent moon with star is a popular symbol for Islam, as well as historically having been used to represent Carthaginian godess Tanit and Greek godess Diana, and the city of Byzantium.

The triangles have a gazillion possible meanings.

Johnny Boy has a new friend...

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=131077230

I've emailed her asking what she can tell us about him.

ETA: Well, they've 'found each other - I've asked her about the Hopi dig site, OvdaSupay and asked for her help... just got that a 'roma needs her sleep..."
I'm too tired to type, so here's Jonathan's repsonse to my last email, asking why Jesa would have retired:
Quote:

It was the dig at the hopi site in arizona. We found a a manuscript talking about something called the scions of punishment. It talked about how they would rise when the red one returned to judge us and convince him that we are unworthy of a peacfull purifacation. I started believing that they may be real and it scared her into quitting. It is really nice to see her again.

I also wrote to Jesa. Her reply regarding the symbols' meanings was essentially the same as my post above. Regarding Jonathan & the dig, she stated that...
Quote:
(Jonathan) got obsessed with the book and began searching for the scions. Then.... well lets just say things got out of hand and i was afraid of finding them, because they may or may not welcome us. either way it would turn out bad.
I guess we can assume that Jonathan did in fact find the scions, and may be working with them to convince the 'red one' to harm us.

Now, EVA is the 'red one' right?

I'm so Question ... If EVA is the 'red one' and Jonathan is working with them, why would EVA be sending these things to him that he doesn't understand. I've been trying to find the meaning to the symbols, and have had no luck. The only thing that looked somewhat promising is that a "thaumaturgic triangle" is used in Paganism for casting spells and summoning demons and are found near ritual sites. It is believed to be the door through which the demon will be called out.

Other than that, nothing...
