[DESCRY][UPDATE]First contacts with RUMI

I'm interested if this is the same for everyone... I'm sorry, no transcripts or screen caps or anything.

I logged in to RUMI and found my operator was Gabriel. I didn't really understand what was going on. They lit some candles, and as Gabriel was talking over to the side symbols (Arabic?) came up in the top left circle. A creepy voice started moaning about dying young.

He advised Raphael to get back, he couldn't figure out where the voice was coming from, etc... and then a second set of symbols (looking different than the first) appeared in the top right circle. Now there were two disembodied voices, talking about how they died young and they had to keep their finger in their gunshot wounds.

Gabriel asked the Prof to shut things down, and the Prof said to keep it going. Raphael called him a chicken, so they kept going, and then more symbols appeared in the final circle, and now three voices, talking about dead at such and such an age. (It's probably important, but I didn't catch everything.)

Then Gabriel said there was a man in the room, and what about nourishment, and where are you taking Raphael, and then the connection with RUMI conked out. It said "return on MARK" or something, so I clicked the link called MARK, but nothing happened. Gabriel + Raphael = Angels, so MARK=Bible book?

Thoughts?

transcript & RUMI connection

Same here - I wasn't around when the chat-room was active and it's all a bit disappointing now that there's nothing else to do - unless I'm missing something Confused

I hope the whole thing isn't going to be based around that chat-room! It's too late at night to be up chatting on a work-day Laughing

If you look on the chat, Prof. Erikson said he'll be writing in the blog on Tuesday.

I hear you about the time. If you are in Europe it's quite a bit more difficult.
Still, having read the transcript and seeing the sense of urgency that a live event provided for everyone plus the fact that it was very much a group event means that I wouldn't mind having to go through IRC myself if it meant participating in really what looked like a fun event..
I suspect that alternatives to IRC are more single player.

The experience looks like it was great. Also, the agents handled themselves like pros. So, songrats all around.
We'll see what happens on Tuesday.

Hi everyone, new to the game, and i'm really sorry i missed that first chat! But anyways, i have a question for you all. Is anyone else having trouble accessing the studiocypher website? Cause I can load the first page but no other related to the cypher site. It stopped working for me about 10:30 PST last night and it's still down. So is this just me or is it everyone? Thanks. Very Happy

Hey Abyss,

Good to see you decided to play!

Yeah, I can't get past the introduction webpage either.

http://descry.us/ is the site you should be interested in though.

Just in case you haven't tried, the studiocypher site is -as of this posting-up and running. I also accessed the training sectio to make sure. All ok.

Good luck.
It's nice to know there are quite a few new players like myself involved in the game.

Good point, it might be useful if we can translate the text...

The circle symbols

Going off of Zazaban's sanskrit comment, I used wiki to match up the symbols on the second circle (top-right) and it appears to say "Come Near". I'm still working on the others.

OK. The first one looks to be Hebrew and I'm translating it into something like "Doorman". Actually, it's more like "dormin", and since Hebrew is read right to left, it's actually "nimrod". That's not very nice.

RedHatty has confirmed the Nimrod translation, which I would guess is a reference to the Mesopotanian king, rather than an insult. No idea how that would fit in though. There's a lot about him in Wiki, the main thing that jumps out is he is supposedly the builder of the Tower of Babel, and we have different languages here..

BTW - were the above proper translations, or did you do it letter by letter? I ask as the greek on the Gemini site needed proper translation.

EDIT: can't find a match for the 3rd language, also there is a chance it is upside down, as the other pieces of script are written with the top towards the outside of the symbol based on the images it is written upside down in the symbol as the top should be towards the outside. Still not found a matching alephbet
