[Mac Heist] Mac Software "Scavenger Hunt"

I don't know if this will really qualify as an ARG. The Mac Software community has hit upon social research challenges as a way to promote their products. MacHeist.

MacRumors:
Quote:
Each week features a "heist" requiring users to follow provided clues provided to accomplish their tasks. The first task? Gather secret information* about the long rumored Apple iPhone from an insider.

Each heist rewards players with free software applications as well as additional discounts to the final "amazing" Mac software bundle.
snip
At this time MacHeist is invite only, but we've managed to provide a backdoor for MacRumors users to register freely. Have fun... time's running out for this heist which ends on Monday.

After tinkering with this for a few hours

META:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it seems that (at least the first challenge) is just triggering script bots via email. In other words, there's nobody at the other end and no way to affect the game.
