It took me a while as well, but I found it. It is at the VERY bottom of the source code for the Alfred Alan error page. Incredibly nice find guys! Very Happy There is about a dozen blank lines between the link and the source.

You know, I was almost 100% sure they would do something like that on YouTube and have been constantly searching for an AlfredAlan of sorts on there.

Side Note 1: Although most people may already know this, I am going to state it anyway. The robots.txt page is the error page for any of the NeVeC sites. I remember hearing a while back that it doesn't show updates for the error pages, but it does. Comes in handy at times like these.

Side Note 2: Also, if you haven't noticed, Capcom gave frontpage recognition to Blackhawk, Glitterbook and myself for completing the ARG's first chapter. I found this to leave out ALOT of names, so I made a post on the Lost Planet Party thread with as many names as I could put together. Check it out!

Edit 1: Oh, just got it. "You will find him in error" means that you will find a video of him linked from the error page. At least, it makes sense.

Edit 2: Yes, another edit. Here are some things of note in the video. To the left of Alfred is the picture of Venice. To the right is the cat. There two pictures are the same from his site (it seems; hard to tell with the quality). The drawers to his left has a completely broken handle. Probably nothing, but of note nonetheless.

Phil sounds exactly like I thought he would!

And it's kinda odd to see my handle (glitterbook) mentioned on the NeoVenus site - I guess that's what displayed to Alfred when I chatted with him originally about the candy bars, and also when I let him know that I had cracked the password. I am so used to being known just by my first name, heh.

[Trivia]
Alfred's blog Apollo 13

Don't know if this matters, but I thought maybe it might be worth posting.

Quote:
You know in Apollo 13 when they are going through the checklist? "Procedures?" "Go." "Enco." "Go." "F.A.O." "We are go." "Network." "Go!" "Recovery." "Go." "Capcom." "We're go, flight." I feel like the one guy on the checklist who has to say "We are no go!" Maybe we will have a miracle before the week is over, but I just don't see it.

Apollo 13 was a mission to the moon that went horribly wrong, in a nutshell. I thought it was interesting though, that Alfred quoted GO/NO GO call in the exact order of the movie, but he spelled "Enco" wrong. It's supposed to be INCO, which stands for Integrated Communications Officer. And, Capcom, is the abbreviated form of the Capsule Communicator.

Well, they have been known to spell important things wrong (::cough:: Ghiradelli Chocolates). Could be the same here. Most of the movie references, to this point, have been only to help emphasis a point instead of moving the ARG along. And there has been alot of movie references.

I liked the "Capcom" part, though. Kinda funny. Smile

URL found at Launch Event
clue scrawled on scattered candy bars

Hi all.

Pardon me if there's a better place to stick this (or if someone beats me to it, but it looks like no one has, so far) but I just got back from the Launch Event and found something I figure I should tell you about asap.

Scattered all over the place (on tables, by monitors, among decarations....) were little mini-hershey bars with messages scrawled on them:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
watch for me! 21:00
alfredalan.com/111

following the URL gets a page with the following:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
January 8th, 2006 - Random Thoughts

*embedded YouTube video linked elswhere*

January 11th, 2006 - What's Happened?

Things have gone very wrong. I have been monitoring a series of projects for Neo Venus Construction over the last couple of years in preparation for the launch of the Frontier Project. Neo Venus Construction has been on a path to Terraforming a new world for many years now. In fact, the company was founded with that goal in mind. Now they are so close to the final launch that they can taste it and nothing is going to stop them from going ahead, not even my Thermal Regulator project. Besides, who wants to tell the investors we need more time and several more millions of dollars to do this thing?

As far as I am concerned, the system is not reliable enough for long term use, but Neo Venus won't wait for the corrections to be implemented. Just too costly. They have stamped their seal of approval saying it IS good ENOUGH. I don't agree and now I am not sure what to do or where to turn. I have made my stand at the sign-off meetings this week in San Francisco and I think that may have been the companies last straw when it comes to putting up with me. I just don't know.

More to come.

Man.
I only went to the launch event because i found it on Upcoming.org and it was free. Now I went and got myself sucked into another ARG. :)

Poor Wiser! Good luck with your laptop, dude.

blue_j, awesome! Thanks so much for bringing that to the forum - I know I was feeling a bit sad I couldn't attend the party.

How awesome - little candy bars. Hee hee. I like that.

pic of candybar clues / what's 21:00?
link to flickr photos

In case anyone was wondering what the clue covered candybars looked like, here's a pic:

More pics of the candybars and the Launch Event in general at my flickr set.

So, does anyone think they know what the "21:00" in the message was referring to? I'm assuming it stands for 9:00 pm in '24hr/military time'. But which 9:00pm? Tonight, which (assuming San Fransico time) is an hour from now? Last night (when the only people who knew about this clue were at the event)?

I tried to call a friend from the event to check the URL and see if anything remarkable was going on, but we had a li'l logistical meltdown :) For all I know, 21:00 could have been when the post on that page was added.

blue_j, I believe I can say this and all would agree. Thank you so very much. We knew there would be something going on at the party we would need and you were the first to bring it up (clearly). Again, thank you and I hope you stick around to see the rest of this unravel. Smile
