Feel free to send notes to joystiq.com or xboxfanboy.com or other relevant blogs and media outlets to see if you can't get more help.

We really want this to be an organic thing. We're doing this stuff solely for the fans. Mind you, if the fans want to shine more of a spotlight on these puzzles, so much the better from our perspective. We've done what we think is some really cool stuff here (we have a few creative guys internally who've thought up and implimented this whole thing) and I will tell you, there's a LOT more to discover down this rabbit hole.

Keep digging.

alfred alan just emailed me back saying

Hello -

There are a lot of jobs at Neo Venus that are appealing if you're into space flight, terraforming and all that sciency jazz. Right now, there are 4 positions available connected to our space flight program (Frontier Project)-don't ask for details cause I can't give any specifics. All I can say is, give it a shot. While the hours are long (well, correction, "ridiculous") and the jobs themselves aren't exactly glorious, the benes are cool beans!

Thanks,

Alfred Alan

LOL, Redwood City is hardly "just up the street" from Sunnyvale. But I suppose it's all relative.

Found it in the source code of www.alfredalan.com/page2.html

Interesting, in the source code for that page, it now reads:
Quote:
If you don't play you can't win.

Another thing I want to point out is the following information on the Tourbit site that may have been overlooked:
Quote:
Weightlessness
Offered the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 6:00pm - 10:00 pm.

Altitude Exposure
Offered the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 6:00pm - 10:00 pm.

High G Exposure
Offered the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 6:00pm - 10:00 pm.

Yeah, I checked on those times as well, but I ended with nothing (there's some possibility of error, though, with me being in different timezone etc.).

The Wednesday's timeframe roughly corresponded with a major update that happened last week, but I would guess that was just a mere coincidence...

OK, just had a little chat with Alan on Y!M. Didn't have much time but this is the basics of what I got out of him. Wasn't sure what to ask, so I asked about the jobs and the name of his cat...just for good measure. Never know. Smile

Quote:
[20:09] velveteenx: Was just looking at the jobs at NEVEC, was considering applying. Looks like an interesting company.
[20:09] alfredalannevec: Interesting is one way to put it certainly. The work is great if not a bit crazy.
[20:10] alfredalannevec: hours are long but the rewards can be amazing
[20:10] velveteenx: I just want the free chocolate bars.
[20:10] alfredalannevec: ah - I see
[20:10] alfredalannevec: chocoholic
[20:10] velveteenx: but seriously, I'm unsure which position would suit me best.
[20:10] alfredalannevec: you may need to find a different pusher to supply that need
[20:12] alfredalannevec: the network is vast
[20:12] velveteenx: I'm not sure where to begin.
[20:13] alfredalannevec: I would just suggest that you look closely at the job postings and find the job that fits your skill set best. But really look them over and make sure it is a good fit[20:14] alfredalannevec: I know that there will be a lot of competition for those four spots.
[20:14] velveteenx: I'll do that. thanks.
[20:14] velveteenx: I can imagine
[20:14] velveteenx: Do you know others going for them?
[20:15] alfredalannevec: It's important to know too that those are jobs that take a lot of commitment. I mean, it's a long way from home if you land the job.
[20:15] alfredalannevec: I have gotten a lot of people asking me about them lately

[20:16] velveteenx: I'll have to thoroughly consider it then. thanks for the info.
[20:16] alfredalannevec: you are quite welcome
[20:17] velveteenx: btw, cute kitty. is it siamese?
[20:18] alfredalannevec: Well... he is a stray but I am pretty sure that he has seal point siamese in him, but when you look closely at his body there are stripes hiding in that fur so he is probably a mix of some sort
[20:18] alfredalannevec: only problem with him is that whole Siamese thing means he is way to smart for his own good;
[20:18] velveteenx: of course. most cats are. what do you call him? aside of a range of swear words when he gets out the bathroom.
[20:20] alfredalannevec: Akemi
[20:20] alfredalannevec: Japanese for Bright Boy

[20:20] velveteenx: cute.
[20:20] alfredalannevec: was thinking Akuma which means something like demon
[20:20] velveteenx: haha
[20:20] alfredalannevec: but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt
[20:21] velveteenx: wait until he pulls the curtains down.
[20:21] velveteenx: anyway, i need to run. thanks for the chat. i hope you don't mind if i contact you again if I decide to apply for any of those nevec jobs.

New blog post!
Alfred Alan Blog Update, Y!IM convo

Quote:
November 29th, 2006 - Southy Boys!

The boys called me yesterday with the same old complaints. "It's cold." and "I'm bored." and "Can you send more movies and games." Sheesh, they are like little kids. Maybe all of that snow makes them believe it is always Chrsitmas. Yes, of course I will give you something. Something to work on!

Is it just me or is the worst possible thing that you can admit to your manager is that you don't have enough to do? Wow.

Anyway, I decided to give them some additional tests with the Thermals. We're getting close to deadline and the big-cheese-type people are asking for us to ramp up the tests on the Thermal Regulators and Thermal Suits. Right now, we only have the portable systems down south to test, but not any of the internal models. Thus, I'm going to have the boys run through additional system checks this week and work toward some live tests for next week or possibly the week after. Let's hope it all goes well! *fingers crossed*"

Today's Candy Bar: Suspended inside of a homemade cinnamon scented candle now burning at his desk. Thank you Glitterbook. Had to go with hard candy for this one though.

Science Link O' the Day: BEES!

In case you're wondering, Glitterbook is me. Smile

We had this convo yesterday on Y!IM:
Quote:
glitterbook: get a large glass jar, put the candy bar into the bottom, pour in some holiday-scented wax and wick it. Leave the candle burning on the desk/table.
Alfred Alan: ok - now that is creative
Alfred Alan: thank you
glitterbook: No prob!
glitterbook: You could even make the wax chocolate-scented, just to be mean.
Alfred Alan: hehe
Alfred Alan: gonna have to go to the local crafty stuff store and pick some supplies I think

Heh. Smile Good times.

Not sure if this is new or not, but when the ERROR page loads "111" flashes onscreen for a fraction of a second.

Only just discovered I have YIM, so I'm gonna try and talk to alfredalannevec sometime soon.

ETA:

Partial article about us on ARGN... not really sure what's going on with this. It's not on the main page yet but if you CONTINUE READING ABOUT OPAPHID you can get to it.

I don't see it... where?

By the way, I tried to access a directory with images on neonvenusconstruction.com just to find out that the directory index is not allowed anymore. Probably it was just a mistake we could access it at the beginning...
