and the winner is...
Well, it turns out I'll have to give you both City A and City B, because there is a slight complication.

City A is Vancouver. City B is Spokane, WA. The trouble is, Foo could be referring to either to Vancouver, Washington, which is about 350 miles away from Spokane, or he could be referring to Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada, which is about 410 miles away.

I would be guessing he's talking about Washington, but let's not close our minds to the other possibility.

 		Messaging enhancement I forgot to mention
Oh, I meant to mention, unless I wasn't noticing it before, they've added an enhancement to our messaging system. The karma color of the person sending the message is now included with the messages. Pretty cool to help us keep track.

Now who's getting spanked?
I figured that I wanted to take Foo to task for the dressing down he gave me the other day. Even if it's supposed to be his character, I figured that pointing out a few things to him might help. Besides, I thought that maybe if as my in-game character I made a suggestion regarding the puzzles, it might be taken more seriously than if I just sent a suggestion to the team in general. I think I may take this tack--VERY judiciously, since overuse would ruin its effectiveness entirely--when I have other serious suggestions as well.

Let me leave you with this thought--even in the distant violent past of many countries, including the country of your own ancestors, courtesy even for your enemies was considered of paramount importance.

 		Now why would you assume 'Vancouver, Washington' when you hear Vancouver? Our Vancouver is probably the better known. Twisted Evil that is so typical.

You have me painted entirely wrong there, Nightshade. I grew up in Alaska. That state is more closely affiliated with Canada than some of CANADA. I have lived in Washington state for a total of six months, almost to the day. I had to do a mapquest search to even see if there WAS a Vancouver, WA. I had actually assumed Vancouver, B.C. because I'd heard of that city before; it was only recently that I even knew there was a Vancouver, Washington. And I only did the search for an area in Washington because I wondered if Foo, being played by someone whom I expect is from the U.S. based on where Fundi Tech is based, would not have included the "British Columbia" in his description, so I thought I'd better check if there were a city of that name in the U.S.

Furthermore, my grandparents on my mother's side were from Prince Edward Island, and my father was a half Russian/half Polish immigrant who made it to the U.S. by running away from Nazis during WWII. So on one side, I am a first-generation American, and on the other, a second-generation one.

Please make sure that when you next direct your vitriol, you are aiming for an appropriate target.

 		Confirmation--Foo *is* reading our private messages
Okay, I've got pretty solid information that Foo is reading our private messages, even BEFORE the message has been sent. I sent a message to one of the new players who contacted me about the game with some questions. Anyway, I was trying to explain what I knew about the game, and I posed a hypothetical instance to explain--I said something about, "If Foo were a transvestite, for example, and you found that out on the unfiction forums, but you didn't find that information yourself anywhere in the game, you aren't allowed to use that information in the game." I actually included this, because I was hoping it was inflammatory enough that it would cause Foo to respond if he were, indeed, monitoring our messages.

I also started to compose a message to the same player in the private messaging window, but had not sent it yet, explaining that I'd been entertaining a dinner guest. The fact that the dinner guest was a straight female (as am I), a colleague of my sister's (my sister actually invited her), and that this sister, my brother, and my great-nephew were also present make this message from Foo hilariously funny.

Don't you just love beating someone at their own game? Of course, they've got to feed us information somehow, so I'm sure they used this as an opportunity to do that, but it still makes me feel great that it worked.

Okay, I just got a reply from Foo. It turns out that he was referring to a comment made to me by another player, and my response to that player. I'm not putting it here, simply because I don't have permission. In any case, the "blind date" comment was from that message, and not from one I didn't send.

HOWEVER...the key thing to me is that Foo sent me THE EXACT TRANSCRIPT of what was in both my messages, and what was in the message of another player. POSITIVE confirmation that Foo IS, with no doubts whatsoever, reading our private messages to each other in the game.

Needless to say, I've deleted all of the messages from my inbox in the game. I would suggest that everyone else do the same.

 		Feel free to contact me. I should tell you that getting noticed by Foo is not really a good thing in a lot of ways. He does seem to inadvertently reveal things, but then he watches you pretty closely. So unless you are trusted by him, you might not get anything. Of course, on the other hand, you might.

It seems that maybe from trace's interactions with him, it might also be useful to put me on your trusted list, at least until he replies. I think I'm one of the names that Foo is referring to about some of trace's friends being worse than his enemies.
