[spec]Phil's in mexico, not florida.[/spec]

Edit:
While I'm editing this, I may as well elaborate on my obvious speculation. It's just that mexico is to the south too, and he hasn't found him yet (in florida). Actually, now that I think about it... Maybe not mexico. Why would they take a helicopter to somewhere they can reach by land? My email to Brackin (the actual reason for this edit, reply included below) included my guess that his next destination was Cuba... actually, I said that his line would lead him to a Cube, hidden in a quote from CS Lewis. But hopefully it made some sense. Anyway...

Some minor correspondence from Brackin. I sent him an email outlining my theory (in a slightly cryptic manner, but I believe it got through). Here's his reply:

Well spoken. I have made a decision about my next step. Watch the blog - I simply need to find someone with a camera-phone, there should be at least on here in this coffee-house.

Now, this could mean "Yes, you're 100% right", "I have no idea what you're talking about and/or you're insane, but I like the way you talk", or anything in between. =\
He's in a coffee-house, and he's going to post a picutar to the blog.

I warned Adam about Alex wanting him dead, here's the correspondance:

Wang Guantao - Email wrote:

Adam, watch your back man!

As you know I completed the psych-test at hackthefeed.com in order to get inside Foo's circle of trusties, and thus gather information usefull for your cause.

Now I've recieved an E-mail from Alex, that holds a few troublesome passages.
He's Emailing back and forth with Foo and it seems his father died on the way back from flying you to Georgia, and he blames you for it. He's inherrited a lot of money now, and in his E-mail he writes:
"What do you need? You literally name it and it is yours... _except for Brackin, I'm already taking care of that one myself._"

Comming from someone with millions of dollars on his hands, and who blames you for the death of his father, I fear he might have hired someone to kill you.

Watch your back man!
/Casey

This is troubling news! Mr. Wright was a kind and gentle man who helped me greatly. I hope his soul will rest in peace.

Thank you for tipping foo and alex's hand. My spies are loyal, and while it troubles me that Alex has given into a lust for power and glory, my death is a scientific imposibility in the same way that foo's is. I will be careful though, for there is work to be done. I have made a decision about my next step. Watch the blog, I will need your help. But first I must find someone with a camera-phone in this coffee house.

Hmm... perhaps her! I must go.

Posting some more Brackin (Brother Theo) communications here to see if they help us at all...

In the In-Game Forums, Theophilus has been speaking to us in Latin and biblical quotations. First, we had the brief quote

Trust
Quote:
Romans 4:6

Now, we have a hacked feed from future Theo with the following message:
Quote:
Antiquis temporibus, nati tibi similes in rupibus ventosissimis exponebantur ad necem.

A contrario, a fortiori, accipere quam facere praestat injuriam. -Theophilus Frater.

Sadly, the online latin translation resources have not been very helpful. Can anyone help with this? Brackin still doesn't appear to be responding to emails, and attempts to elicit conversation with him in the forum has been met with failure.

Can anyone help with this?

Here you go:

Brother Theo wrote:

Contrary to this (on the contrary), and very much so (with yet stronger reason), it is better to suffer an injustice than to do an injustice. - Brother Theo

Personally, I feel most of Theo's religious ramblings haven't been very helpful or to the point (which is normally the case with religious ramblings).

Maybe he's just trying to cause a stir with this?

More Brother Theo Ramblings

This probably means nothing, but I figured I should put this here just in case.

In the new News Article on Deus City, Brother Theo (Brackin) writes
Quote:
Time is a fickle mistress.
Those who are silent speak.
Those who are dead alive.
Those who are deaf hear.
Those who are forgotten remember.

The answer to your question true believer...

...is yes.

A couple things make this strange--and therefore worth noting. First, nobody asked a question in the thread. morelaak noted DefenseCorp is like Big Brother, and Casey (i forgot your unforum screenname, sorry) expressed the belief that Theo and Orpheus would help us in the future. No questions.

Additionally, the post is marked "guidance". Perhaps it's a clue to puzzle solutions (silent speak, deaf here both might help explain the sign language connection catherwood just told us about Light and Dark)--but why post it in response to the Wright Industries advertisement?

this looks to me like more Orwellian psychology. Big Brother used similar catchphrases to program the masses.

Also, the first time i saw Theo's post on deus, i also realized he had marked me as trusted. Maybe he's saying the Big Brother theory is on the right track.

Maybe that's the question that he's answering.

Casey is me NotGord. He's my Attackin Brackin persona.

I wrote him a longish E-mail asking for guidance, and I think he answered me from the future instead of a reply E-mail. Below is the E-mail i sent him, judge for yourself if it's an answer to that, but I think it might be.
Casey's E-mail to Brackin wrote:

Adam, I refuse to belive you are dead. It's scientifically impossible, and the prophecies definitely speak against it; but I need guidance.

As you must know by know DeusCity.com has changed, and is now an operational Temporal Communications interface, where Temporal Agents are being given tasks to solve. Some are definitely helping Foo and his goons to capture Skiver agents (people from the underground that send us the truth of DC in their hacked feed transmissions), but there are also ones that seem to help the underground. Should I solve these problems Theo? or is it just another of Foo's ploys?

Also one of the temporal agents stand out. He goes by the name of "Eldoradowatcher" and is the only one with a karma rating matching that of "Brother Theophilus" whom I believe to be your future self.
Can he be trusted? Does he know more than the rest of us, and should we contact him?

I hope you recieve this letter Adam, and that you will be able to adress my concerns. Either way rest assured that the True Believers will fight this foreshadowing of an Orwellian society with all the might we posses.

Change the Present.
/Casey

Based on my E-mail and his answer, I take it to mean that we should contact Eldoradowatcher. What are you're takes on this?

Eldoradowatcher could even possibly be Phil?

Are we sure this "Theo" is the Theo from the future, though? I was under the impression from a post made by Foo (present Foo) that only people from the past are posting in the forums.

As for the contacting eldoradowatcher, I think it's a good idea--if it was somebody in the forums, they would have stepped up and said something by now (probably), there's the black karma, and the cryptic response to the last email sent to him. Good luck finding out more about our mysterious player "Ethan Sedgewick".

I believe Theo is Theo.
I dunno if he's the future Theo though, but it doesn't really change much about the answer he gave.

Chris the Untrusted

kk, i noticed something strange while looking at the agent profiles...

although there are plenty of greenies on deus who have showed more than enough reason to be untrusted by Foo, none have been marked as such, except for one. Chris.

I found this interesting, and decided to email him, askinghim why Foo might distrust him.

I got this...

Quote:
Andrew,

This is an interesting development, and a disturbing one. I just hope they aren't completely on to me yet.

I was until recently working for Fundi Technologies, the people who created the interface. Defense Corp was running everything with an iron fist, Foo himself was literally looking over our shoulders. We were forced to work well into the night (I was up until 5am the night before the interface went live) to get everything ready to go. I did it gladly because I felt that Foo is ushering in a future that will be more equitable for everyone.

It didn't take me long to change my mind. Just reading the news articles coming in from the feed was enough to turn my stomach. Its obvious that they are full of propaganda and their purpose is to deceive not only the citizens of Deus City but us as well. I secretly started writing back doors into the interface but they terminated me before I was done.

I do not know if I should trust the Brotherhood. Brother Theo appears to be some kind of religious nutjob, and I haven't seen nutjobs do too much for society. However I'm willing to do just about anything to prevent the kind of future that Foo envisions. I still have ways to access the code. Show your trust to me in the system ... and I can prove it.

Also watch out for a guy named 'cfreak' .. he's posing as me. He's not to be trusted.

Chris

Looks like we've got another place to look for for developments.

Interesting that they are pulling Fundi Techc into the game. I was under the impression it was a legit company.

I get the feeling they've taken a fair dollop of inspiration from Perplex City.

1) It's called [something] City Razz
2) They mentioned on their site about just solving puzzles to get up leaderboards, which is a pretty PXC thing. And now:
3) They're involving the company themselves as an ingame presence, much like Mind Candy do with PXC.

Interesting to see how this turns out.

more chris.

Ok, emailed Chris back again, asked if he had finished any backdoors, alluded to the Brotherhood possibly offering shelter from Foo's agents in return for information. He emailed me back within an hour...

Quote:
I do have a back door. If you check your karma you will know that it exists. In time I will allow others access to it, for now I must watch and see who can be trusted. I don't believe karma tells the real story. In time I'm sure many of the greens will be loyal to Foo. Likewise many of his followers may decide to fight against him.

I will contact you again.

Chris

I'll be checking my email twice a day now.
