Got the following message from TheoBrackin via PM...interestingly, I'm still on his distrusted list.

Quote:
We have waited a long time, but the wait is almost over.
For you there is almost no wait at all.
Be patient. The liars can not hide the full truth forever.
When the time is right we will show our hand.

You have our trust - and you skills will be useful in time.
Watch. Wait. Learn. Darkness is your ally.
When it comes, you will know what to do.

Karma

I'm guessing that your karma changes depending upon whom YOU add as trusted or distrusted agents as well. I think if you end up adding a lot of red people as trusted, you go more red, and if you add more green, you go green. The other colors probably play into it as well.

I'm going to be testing my theory in a while--after I've managed to solve all of the green puzzles available to me and am ready to do some of the red ones.

As someone else said, probably the karma of whoever adds you as a trusted agent probably changes things as well.

Got another PM from Theo:

Quote:
Theophilus says: A certain loud mouthed braggart has been gaining prestige by nothing more than venting his rambling thoughts. Eventually his words will destroy him. Watch him and report back to me when he does so that we can deal with this puppet properly.

Of course I have no idea to which of several he could be referring. Someone he's not terribly happy about, though!

Could be me--I sent him a personal message last night telling him that I thought that he was an agent for the city who was just trying to sucker us in.

Glad to hear there was some response. Just wanted to see if rattling his chains would do anything for my karma. I really want to figure out this karma thing--I mean, I know that solving some of the puzzles and sending the info to the corp will change it, but it seems to me there should be other ways to do that as well.

The criteria for karma changes are varied and many, I believe. Character interaction certainly changes your karma, as I was told that telling Foo I'd take part in his karma experiment made me more red.

However, there are other things. I've turned green, and the only thing I can think of that did it was my sneaking into "unauthorised virtual areas" (meaning the forums we shouldn't have been able to access). The following news story and communication from Theo are what make me think this is what happened.

I think the PMs might be keeping a general eye on what's happening on the ingame forums, too, and possibly tweaking karma based on that talk.

And of course if chris decides to tweak anyone else's karma. I haven't heard back from him since I last emailed him, though.

Oh, and as for the loud-mouthed braggart that Theo mentioned, my money would be on trace. He's gotten a whole lot of prestige from forum posting, so much so that he's second in prestige only to Foo. Even above the gatekeepers, who got a 100 bonus.

Easiest Way to Tweak Karma
I know this is in the wrong place, but oh well

With enough credits, it's possible to tweak your Karma so you can switch between Red and Green at will. All you need to do is make sure one easy, karma-changing puzzle remains unsolved in each color. For green puzzles, I use "Shooting Gallery" (10 credits / attempt).

For red puzzles, I would suggest seeing if wrong answers for Passkey change karma.

Here's how it works, although I'd assume the process would be common sense. After you go over to the "other side", solve any puzzles you want. I tested it by solving all of the puzzles but one, although you can only solve as many puzzles as it takes to access the "betrayal" puzzles if you'd prefer.

After you've done what you needed to do, keep submitting wrong answers to a low credit, karma changing puzzle until you can't do the puzzle anymore--that'll mean you've changed colors. After solving all the completed green puzzles, it took me about five attempts at "Shooting Gallery" to return to red, leaving me with a net gain of around 200 credits.

AHAHHA now it all clicks, he marked me as distrusted and i challenged him on it, asking what i ever did to him,,, without realising it me and pied piper pissed him off 2x lol AHAHAHAHA

really though, i post alot, but that's me, also note that two days ago i got roughly 30 prestige out of nowhere, so its apparent to me the pms saw the path i walk as far as posting goes, and decided to nudge me up further past anyone for some reason

yes theo defiantly does not like me, though i can not recall ever directly insulted him, so it must be what i write

trace

 oops

Guess this didn't post. I sent a message to Theo, basically trying to 'convert' him to the Guardian cause and warning him not to step on my toes. Got this back:
Quote:
Theophilus says: What you say is impossible. Nothing ever changes. There is no alternative. Your view is as propagandistic and close-minded as those of the government which created this world. The uncertainty ceased on 11-11-07, and will not come again until 01-11-42. We do not know why, but it it a simple mathematical certainty.

So much for Theo being a potential ally; apparently, Foo would make a better ally as he at least is not such a determinist!

Trace, as far as I can see, your posts don't mean anything, I'm pretty sure they meant you.

Either he's gotten his year wrong, or we have a few months to change things. Razz

OKAY wait a minute, i would say 75 % of my posts are of meaning, maybe not to you, but to many.. its just like VNS posts, they may not make sense to us, since i have no idea what a quantum historian actually is, but it means something to him and whoever if there is anyone who follows him

aside from my typos, i think i make very good points and arguments..

but at the same time, i take pride in my official title... THE LOUD MOUTHED BRAGGART

Trace
for every post you show me i made that has no meaning, i will show you two that do

Yes, it is definitely Trace. I sent another PM to Theo last night trying to fish for more info:

Quote:
Dear Brother,

Please forgive my intrusion. I feel the need to express some concerns and do not want to air them publicly. It seems several people have become rather loud and obnoxious. It is becoming a trend. I do hope those who are green do nothing to harm our movement. Those who are red, well, they shall bury themselves in the end.

I have received several emails from one Trace. He has certainly made a number of posts resulting in greatly increased karma. He appears to be attempting to unite all agents under one banner, however, I believe many have simply ignored him. Do you wish me to pursue private interaction with him?

Violent Nightshade is worrying. He is extremely inflammatory in his statements. I wonder if he is a plant attempting to paint the Brotherhood in the colors preferred by Foo.

PiedPiper, on the surface, appears to be a good addition to the Brotherhood. I only hope his choice of handle is not prophetic. He, too, has been making innumerable posts.

A few others have caught my attention as well; Wabonan, Tubes, and of course Morelaak. I imagine many have found cause for concern in my own postings although I do seem to be gaining the trust of more agents.

Thank you for allowing me to air my suspicions. You are very busy and do not have time to reply to all messages. Perhaps you are unable to even read all messages. Should you have a moment and see a need please offer any guidance you may have.

In Brotherhood
WolfHawk

And this is what I got back:

Quote:
Theophilus says: All of these agents are known to us. But this is good work - keep it up. This "Trace" will destroy himself in time.

Look out, Trace, we're out to getcha!
