Ok, Nancy is offline - and using my better judgement, I won't muddle up the board with our conversations.

In summary:

She thinks that there could possibly be something packed away in her mother's things, but she hasn't touched them since she died but will look for me when she gets back. I guess her mom has a lot of stuff.

She won't be back in Chicago until Monday - (but here is where I get confused) her and Matt plan on going camping again tonight...

... then she disappeared

Just a rather simple reply to my last message, at least clearing up that Robert isn't her father. I'm starting to wonder if the house will be broken into when she gets back:

*Of interest:

After Agrippa's death, rumors circulated about his having summoned demons. In the most famous of these, Agrippa, upon his deathbed, released a black dog which had been his familiar. This black dog resurfaced in various legends about Faustus, and in Goethe's version became the "schwarze P�del" Mephistopheles.

I realize that Sylvia got her renderings of the images up before I did, but she comments that she cannot read them well.

I have some of the details enlarged and will add them for further observation.

Not sure where the woman/circle symbol is from, but here is a closer view

There are numerous symbols, circles and pentagrams, etc. Behind them, it appears to be text from an engine manual of some sort.

At one point, the townspeople have a shared dream of the town found deserted with newscasters comparing it to the vanishing of the population of Roanoke Island. Addressing the residents, Linoge hints that he made the same offer to the people of Roanoke but they refused and thus paid the price, forced to commit mass suicide.

I'm sure this has only scratched the surface but that's it for me right now. If you have any knowledge or know of any resources we could utilize related to Croatan / Croatoan, Croatkjaa, Inadkkla, Ronoke Island, werewolves, etc. please share them. But then again it may not be about werewolves since Sladius says:

Hyexistenzz: you'll have to forgive my ignorance of your ways, but when you say crossed over, what do you mean? is gatewood in the united states? or is it on another plane of existence?

Sladius: it is still in the same place, but is existing parallel to what is currently there. We have a select few who are not cursed that act as couriers and can cross back and forth.

Seeing that we now have a Steven King movie and an RPG in the mix, I think it's safe to add what I found concerning a Marvel comic Wink

(Marvel Comics Presents#63/4)- Circa 1000 AD, the Viking settlements in Vinland (North America), were overrun with vampires led by Varnae. The last human prayed to Thor to come to their aid, before being taken by the undead. The thunder-god found the settlement decimated and half the population dead. The other half were vampires. Thor was then confronted by Varnae, who revealed his names and his aliases of Baal, Tsathoggua, and Croatoan. Thor and Varnae battled, locked in a stalemate. Thor finally opened a portal with Mjolner, letting sunlight through. Varnae fled the light, but his vampire minions were decimated.

Almost six centuries later the last Viking settler was revealed to have been responsible for ending the Roanoke Colony by turning its population into vampires.

tipsila good observation but now I'm even more confused, are we dealing with vampires or werewolves or both or neither? Further down on the page that you found about Varnae is this:

Since the actual deities exist in the MU, Varnae's listing of both Baal and Tsathoggua probably means that he attempted to steal their worshippers away similar to the way the Heliopolitan (Egyptian) god Seth did with the worshippers of the Elder god Set.
The name Croatoan is not the name of a god, but the only clue to the disappearance of the Roanoke, Virgina colony in 1590. The colony was founded by Sir Walter Raleigh, in 1587, and consisted of 117 people. After a year, the settlement's leader, John White, left to get more supplies in England, but was unable to return until 1590, due to the Spanish war. When he returned to the colony he found it abandoned, although there was no sign of a struggle taking place. The word Croatoan was carved in one tree and the letters CRO on another tree. To this day the fate of the colonists is unknown, although people have speculated that they were killed by Indians, the Spanish, or joined a friendly Indian village nearby and became part of its population.
The name was seen again (or still) on a tree in Roanoke after the town was slaughtered by Logan as a test by Weapon X, as seen in Weapon X II#25--Snood.

Google has much on Sir Walter Raleigh but I will not go into anymore detail since Raleigh was not there when the Roanoke Island incident happened, I doubt he is as important here as perhaps Eleanor Dare is.

Here is some more research on Croatoan, John White, the father of Eleanor Dare and grandfather of Virginia Dare (the first baby born at the Roanoke Colony or for that matter the first English child born in the New World) and Ananias Dare, Eleanor's husband and Virginia's father.
