Ok Phil told me it was the one sleeping during the first video so that means Alex. Foo told me that Phil and Alex lied about Foo to brackin about some file being that Foo had no access to.

I asked Phil about whereabouts DefenseCorp was, in case it would help track Brackin, or just help him in general. Unfortunately, it seems not even he knows.
Phil wrote:
I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you!

Naw I'm just kidding, I have no idea, I'm at some encampment in a trailer at the moment. There was an actual black van and everything that took me here. I'm really not supposed to talk about it. Yea I asked about the site too and they told me not to ask questions. As long as the paycheck clears I don't really care.

Thanks dude, yea I guess I should really set up an external email and
forward it or something, technically I'm not supposed to tell anybody I
work here. Oops!

I did forward your inquiry about openings to HR tho, so if you hear
from them good luck
. Got to go, I'm late for a meeting.

What the Hell.

Yea, I did it. I locked him in the server room. But I only because I
thought he deleted that file. If you tell Foo - tell him I'm sorry. It
wasn't fair and it shouldn't have gotten him fired. He is a little
prick but he didn't deserve that. I told Brackin when he came to me
last week - but he's got other things on his mind. I gave him that
tracer software to get him to forgive me. The worst part is he did
anyway. This has all gotten out of control. I've lost my best friend
Phil because of an ethical delemma and lost my project status because
of the company he's now working for. I don't believe it's a
coincidence, neither does Brackin. I know what I saw in that deleted
file. Brackin's set out to prove it. I'm just hoping he can.

Alex (almst3kSPLATyahoo.com)

As always, feel free to write Foo or Brackin with this information. We have the admission from Alex, and it makes me suspect that he's still not the traitor. Just kind of juvenile. Plus, now we know what Brackin's looking for (the deleted file).

I got the same reply as I was following up on something. Dang, and here I thought I had primary access to critical information!

I asked Phil about the file:

The Reply:

There seems to be a lot of fuss over that file dude. I have forgotten about it. Maybe you should too. It was just GUI data from the moon test anyway, its not like we made contact or anything, no matter what alex THINKS he saw ok? I'm working for the man now - and yes they own my soul but who gives a crap? They are paying me well and picked up an important doomed project from the ashes! I for one am glad Defense-Corp stepped in! To Hell with Brackin and Foo and their idealisms, and to Hell with the other team members too. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. And no matter how many times you people pester me with your so-called "Proof" I know that you are bluffing! If this ushers in a brave new world then great! And if not then even better - I'M STILL GETTING PAID. Now tell your freinds to screw off.

There's an "official" slightly longer post from Alex on the deus-city blog, Most of it, is the same as notGord has gotten.

Twisted Evil I'm partial to Torrie or Malk myself. I tried to play a Daughter of Cacophony once, but they wouldn't let me. Crying or Very sad

edit: Alex Wright's email is now returning a delivery status notification. It's toast. So much for the 'impartial arbiter'...

Trout me if necessary...don't have time to check the forums before I teach the next class but thought I should get this up here.

Email from Brackin answering my question about Phil posting about working at Defense-Corps starting on November 2nd according to his blog

Quote:
DEAR GOD! You are right, How could I be so stupid? I saw that Phil's blog was shut down, but I didn't realise that he had done it PRIOR to the cancellation of the project! As far as I can tell he even went so far as to reset his identity date-stamp to cover his tracks but he must have missed that little detail! This is the information I needed! The proof I have been seeking. Phil has been working with Defensecorp from the start! It explains why he's cut all of his ties and blocked my email. What else does he know? You have given me the thing I needed Michael to confront Defense-corp, Phil and Foo! Keep the faith - for I have but one more leg in my journey before we will know the truth - I must know if what Alex said he saw on that deleted file was real. If so then we are all being lied to. Even Foo.

DEUS EX MACHINA!

I didn't want to post this theory until I had its suspicious-osity confirmed. I wrote a fairly circumspect email to Phil asking when he got his offer from Defense-Corps for confirmation....we'll see when he gets back to me.

Everything's about the timestamps lately.

I don't have too much time these days, but I just realized I got a mail from Phil about Foo. nothing new here, but anothermention of that file. What's a GUI data file?

oh, and I'm with the LaSombra Cool

Quote:
Foo is short, um... foreign in that sort of "where exactly is he from" sort of way... and he was acting funny before the experiment. Don't tell him I said that. Seriously tho, he's all right and he and I have mended up and he's cool with stuff. Whether or not he was the one who deleted the GUI file isn't important. D-Corp has taken this little college project to the big time. I'm just glad I can still be on board.

GUI stands for Graphical User Interface. It's the stuff you see that lets you interact with a program--buttons and stuff like that.

I got an email from Phil where he explained the concept in his own blunt terms (he's definitely got his own way of speaking)

Quote:
I made all the little buttons that everybody pushes.
Somebody deleted my buttons, then Alex made a big deal about it, which in retrospect was probably my fault.

I can't think of a way to describe GUI more simply than that.

OK, I just got an invitation to blackmail Phil about an hour ago

From Phil
Quote:
Ok, I get you dude. Your sarcasm speaks loud and clear.
I don't know how you found out but I'm willing to negotiate.
What are your terms to keep this under wraps?

This is, ironically enough, tied to the same time discrepancy I told Brackin about two posts ago (I sent the two emails simultaneously). Let me know what answers / favors I should ask of Phil, either in response to this thread or by PM--seems like a fairly major chance, so I could use the input. I'll fire off the email in 12 hours or so. The window of opportunity is small because as the above comment I made shows, I already told Brackin and he's kind of a loose cannon.

My questions
-What is DefenseCorps' current plans, and who was the investor?
-How did you get involved with DefenseCorps, and when did it start?
-What did you really see on the file, and why was it deleted?

Nice to see that E-mailing characters keeps the story moving, I don't have time/energy for more than reading blogs, and UnForums atm, so keep it up.

I think your questions are good starts, seems to cover the biggest holes we have. One thing you could maybe ask him though, is if he knows where Foo hides, and where Defenec Corp has their HQ.
