Adding this here so people will see it

A post-game chat is planned for December 30th at 7:00 p.m., but if this doesn't work for anyone, I'm definitely open to suggestions. Also, I am wondering where the best place to hold the chat would be -- AIM doesn't work for everyone, I realized when players were supposed to get a clue over AIM -- so where would everyone like to meet and talk? I could set up a chat room on the Reindeer Games board... yes, perhaps that would be best. That's what I'll do. Smile OK, now that you know the thought process behind the chat room... does December 30th work for everyone?

you can still do this Smile

well, as long as Snowball continues to answer emails and give out passwords Razz

he'll be releasing a book with the puzzles and the '15 days of christmas' story sometime in 2007, but for now I've got the puzzles and passwords archived on the wiki, complete with spoilered hints and solves for people who want to play through legitimately from start to end (assuming they want to skip the emailing of answers and waiting for confirmations and passwords from snowball)...

The book Eric says he plans to be releasing will be interesting to see once he gets it done.

Hey everyone, thanks a bunch for playing. You definitely made my Christmas more enjoyable because I knew I was making yours more fun... it rocked. I have a lot of plans for where this can go in the future...

Now, we just have to wait until next Christmas! Laughing

Thanks again, and I'll talk to everyone tomorrow at 7:00, ok?

<TheNightWatchman> Given the turnout on the
Uf site, I expect that more people will be
showing up soon.
<Eric> Yeah, I hope so, lol
<TheNightWatchman> If not, I'll know not to hold
a PM chat at this time for my games. hehe
<Eric> thanks ;P
<TheNightWatchman> live and learn
[Sat Dec 30 15:57:39 EST 2006] RedHatty
<RedHatty> Hi all Smile
[Sat Dec 30 15:58:00 EST 2006] enaxor
<Eric> hello
<enaxor> howdy
<Eric> So, I guess we'll just wait for a few more
people?
<enaxor> sure
<enaxor> not quite 4 yet
<Eric> right
<TheNightWatchman> Some people show up
late, also.
<Eric> right
<TheNightWatchman> brb... nature is calling me.
<enaxor> I just saw your post and wanted to drop
in and say....sorry for being such a grumpy gus
Wink
<Eric> enjoy...?
<Eric> That's ok enaxor
<enaxor> a lump of coal would have been well
deserved for me lol
[Sat Dec 30 16:03:45 EST 2006] Insanitarium2k6
<Eric> hello
<Insanitarium2k6> Hey guys
<Insanitarium2k6> Just doing a drive by
<Insanitarium2k6> Have dinner reservations in
under an hour
<Eric> OK
<Eric> Well, I kind of thought there would be more
people than this
<Eric> but I guess this'll have to do!
<Eric> First of all, I wanted to say sorry for starting the 15 Days of Christmas and then just dropping it
<enaxor> I look forward to the rest of the story
<RedHatty> no prob, we can still look forward to it
<Eric> OK cool
<Eric> and... I don't know if this affected anyone in here, but I feel bad about not thinking certain puzzles through
<Eric> like the Wild Christmas Reindeer one
<RedHatty> ah the morse code fun
[Sat Dec 30 16:07:02 EST 2006] Insanitarium2k6
<Eric> and the fact that some people are deaf
<Insanitarium2k6> I closed the main window and vanished
<Eric> yeah
<Eric> I keep doing that
<RedHatty> at least it was just for fun, not like there was a prize involved
<Eric> yeah
<Eric> unfortunately I have no budget whatsoever
<RedHatty> join the club Wink
<enaxor> heh
<Insanitarium2k6> He he
<Insanitarium2k6> I hear ya there
<Eric> I tried not to make it seem like there was a prize at the end, so no one was disappointed
<RedHatty> of course, next year, you could offera free copy of the book <hint>
<Eric> I could! Smile
<RedHatty> from the feedback I got from other players, that would be a great prize
<Insanitarium2k6> Heck, ya could still do that now Smile
<Eric> Naah, I'd rather wait until next year
<Eric> when I have the book finished
<Eric> which, by the way, if anyone wants to help work out the logistics/ layout/ etc, I'd really like that
<RedHatty> I'll get a copy, it will be a great teaching tool for my daughter - who is just getting into gaming
<Insanitarium2k6> Awwwww
<Insanitarium2k6> That's cool Hatty
<Eric> awesome
<Eric> I have to figure out how to integrate the puzzles with the story
<Eric> which is going to be a challenge
<Eric> but I'm looking forward to it
<RedHatty> Eric, if you need help, I can try to help ya - don't have any fancy tools in this machine, but I know
how to use word real good
<enaxor> you could always just do the story, than do the puzzles as a seperate part
<Eric> Thanks, RedHatty
<Eric> yeah, that could work too
<RedHatty> A thought would be to combine Marcus' story with what is happening with Snowball, so that
what snowball sends out - puzzles, can be easily incorporated
<Eric> Well, do I want to give password hints in the book and then have them come to the forums, or do I want
the book to be able to stand alone?
<RedHatty> You could do both, ass an appendix for the actual puzzles for those who are reading it without
easy computer access
<RedHatty> ass=add
<Eric> lol
<Insanitarium2k6> ironically, the appendix goes on the back end
<RedHatty> lol
<Eric> true...
<Eric> OK! So.
<Eric> I'm considering a completely new format for next year
<Eric> something that'll reduce the wait time
<Eric> between submission and checking answers
<RedHatty> a flash/java that only responds to correct answers?
<Eric> yeah, something like that
<Eric> but I know absolutely nothing about flash/java programming Wink
<RedHatty> will reduce your time committment
<Insanitarium2k6> I kinda liked the interaction
<Insanitarium2k6> Especially when I got yelled at for wishing coal on Snowball
<Insanitarium2k6> I tried to play a guilt trip on him
<RedHatty> did you go into multiple personality disorder being the candycanekid & mrs claus?
<enaxor> lol
<Insanitarium2k6> He didn't respond Wink
<Eric> yeah, I got that alot
<Eric> I love playing a ton of characters at once
<Eric> keeps me on my toes
<Insanitarium2k6> He even wore a dress for the Mrs. Claus convos
<RedHatty> lol
<enaxor> lol
<Insanitarium2k6> And Ceiling Cat watched
<Eric> !!!!
<Eric> no, no no
<Eric> lol

OK, way too tired to keep writing my name over and over again. Sorry. Anything with just a ">" is me.

<TheNightWatchman> He said "toes".. not "heels".
<RedHatty> rofl
<enaxor> lol
> trust me, I'm not into the whole drag thing
<RedHatty> sure your not
<RedHatty> Wink
<TheNightWatchman> Okay, this has taken a wierd turn... so....
<Insanitarium2k6> Hey dude
<Insanitarium2k6> It's totally cool
> yeah... so...
<Insanitarium2k6> Alot of freedom goes with wearing a dress
<Insanitarium2k6> ... I've heard
> All righty then! Moving on.
<RedHatty> insane, that was TMI
<TheNightWatchman> Freedom from underwear, according to Britney Spears.
<RedHatty> and back to the game chat
> again... MOVING ON!
<Insanitarium2k6> NightWatchman ... NEI
<RedHatty> how long had you planned this?
> well, first let me ask this.
> How long do you think it took
<TheNightWatchman> Well, you had a lot of things going at recently, so it depends on how much time you
took away from those other games to work on this.
<RedHatty> I wouldn't know, myself, I am relatively new to gaming - the puzzles were really good, I would
think it could be trown together rather quickly
<Insanitarium2k6> /me knows
> Yep. I created all the puzzles over a 2-day period
<Insanitarium2k6> ...
<TheNightWatchman> I'd say a couple of weeks, max.
> lol
<Insanitarium2k6> Stupid non-mIRC commands
<TheNightWatchman> Smile
> yeah, this chat room is a bit awkward
<TheNightWatchman> How about the "story"?
<RedHatty> and it was low budget, since it was grass-roots with free blog spots & such
<TheNightWatchman> Okay, so puzzles = 2 days... what about the rest?
<RedHatty> still good, don't misunderstand, just not costly
> The story, I started a few days before I posted chapter one, and then became extremely behind in updating
the blog
> no, I understand. Not costly at all
> That's the way I like it. Smile
<RedHatty> life has this tendency to get in the way sometimes, doesn't it
<TheNightWatchman> So, if you had to do it over again... would you planned more? Or did you enjoy the
stress of being behind?
> No, I DEFINITELY would have written the entire story beforehand, and had it uploaded as DRAFTS on
blogger, and then just made it a post the day it was supposed to come out
<RedHatty> <contemplates> More like, loathed the fact that I was behind
<TheNightWatchman> Okay, so besides "planning ahead", what else would you say you have learned that
you will use on future games?
> not everyone has AIM
> lol
<RedHatty> lol
> Plus, releasing puzzles over AIM is a HUGE time commitment for me
> cause I have to catch everyone online at some point
<RedHatty> what about a chatbot proggie - couldn't one of those have been used for a character?
> proggie?
<TheNightWatchman> I second that "?".
<RedHatty> of course, without a little help from CCK & Mrs Claus, I would never have figured out the cows
in the NP
<RedHatty> program
> program!
> oh lol
<TheNightWatchman> Had me thinking about food for a moment there.
> probably, but again, I don't really know anything about programming
> lol, TNW, me too!!!
<RedHatty> look into them over the next year - they aren't that hard
> I definitely will
<RedHatty> you can set them for certain key words
<RedHatty> to give a hint or passwords to next puzzles, etc
<TheNightWatchman> How many other games, besides this one, have you run by yourself? Any pros and
cons that you can think of, besides the usuals?
> Other than this, I've run two games alone
> I like having total control over everything... like, being able to create puzzles and storyline myself
> plus, I get to act as all of the characters
> which can make for some VERY stressful nights, but I do enjoy that kind of stress
> However... I have to make puzzles and storyline myself, and I have to be all of the characters so I know
someone won't mess up
<RedHatty> a touch of control freak in your personality LOL
> most DEFINITELY
> lol
<enaxor> monk on steroids
<TheNightWatchman> Trust, rather then control, I think.
> so, I've got F!PR 2 coming up very soon
> but after that, I'm going to take some time off from constant PMing
> develop a team
> work on my programming skills
> etc.
<enaxor> can you play F!PR2 without playing the first?
> absolutely
<enaxor> cool
> there might be some basic background things you'll need, but you should be able to get it all from my
website
<RedHatty> tried getting into F!PR the first go round, but had too much I was into & it was bit too far along
<TheNightWatchman> I have a prior engagement, but I will try to get involved in that one... the people on
ARGnet Cast seemed to enjoy the first one.
> awesome
<enaxor> if RL is calm, I'll try for #2
> great
> this one is going to move a bit slower than the first
> so people have a hope of catching up if they miss a week
<TheNightWatchman> Looks like I'll have some reading to do over the next couple of days... hehe.
> launch is tomorrow at midnight. Smile
<TheNightWatchman> Besides, I am in more of an advising role in my engagement then anything else. Smile
> ah. The... engagement.
> ;(
> Wink *
<RedHatty> bte, Eric, did you realize that some of us had "early access" to puzzle 7?
<enaxor> I tried to tell him Wink
<enaxor> when ever you updated a blog using snowball, I got a google alert
<RedHatty> I still wonder if that darned 11th clue was in the early access version
> the puzzle 7 that wound up being the puzzle 7 that was used?
> seriously?
<enaxor> yes
<RedHatty> well the only question about it is the invisible #11
> wait... how advanced was this?
<RedHatty> we were around puzzle 4
> no way
<TheNightWatchman> apparently, yes way.
> someone told me they had found puzzle 7
> so I took that down
> and wound up re-writing it
> it was originally a missing letters puzzle
<RedHatty> didn't change it much though
> where you had to fill in the letters for a christmas-themed word
> and then rearrange the letters you used to get "Santa claus is coming to town"
<RedHatty> oh no, we found the anagrams
> ...ok, now I'm confused...
<enaxor> you changed it, but then put it back up temporarily
> I did?!
> Ok, temporary lapse of memory or something
<enaxor> yes, then you changed it to back off
> lol
<enaxor> lol
<RedHatty> Smile
> huh
> damn google alerts
<enaxor> hehe
> that's the second time they've foiled a game for me
> Sad
<TheNightWatchman> Hmmmm... that's interesting though...
> lol
<RedHatty> remember to ask enaxor how to set up google alerts LOL
<enaxor> lol
> yeah...
<TheNightWatchman> That would be something to test before a launch, huh?
<enaxor> I only did it to keep up with new posts on reindeer-games blog, but if snowball authored anything
that gave me an alert too
> lol
> oh well
> my fault, I guess
<enaxor> no biggie
<enaxor> I like the use of the free websites
<enaxor> liked
<TheNightWatchman> Does that do that for paid sites, also? The google alert thingy?
> i think so
<enaxor> the only alerts I got for your blogs
> hmm
<enaxor> geez, "was" for blogs
<enaxor> my fingers can't keep up with my brain
<RedHatty> sorry to ruin the fun by telling you
<TheNightWatchman> No, it's good that someone said something... now I know about it, also.
> no, that's ok
> thank you
<TheNightWatchman> Might be something to put on the forums.
<TheNightWatchman> Kind of like how the "whois" information has changed since people started checking
it often.
<enaxor> in sammeeeees the PM learned to hide key words from blog searches
<enaxor> like using spxxcheeeee instead of spoocheeeee
> clever
> I had to do that for F!PR too
> cause there was a blog I was updating for two weeks
<TheNightWatchman> Just didn't remember. Smile
> without the players knowing
> and I didn't want them to find it by searching
> so the character kept constantly forgetting names
> lol
<enaxor> lol
<RedHatty> lol
<enaxor> the players keep the PMs on their toes
<enaxor> the PMs have to change certain things because of how we play
<enaxor> and the tools we use
<TheNightWatchman> This genre will continue to evolve because of it... so it is a good thing.
<enaxor> very true
> yep
> and I like that, too
> how much you guys influence the games
<TheNightWatchman> Or how much the PM can make it look like the players are influencing the game... jk.
<RedHatty> lol
> lol
> ok, so... any other questions?
<TheNightWatchman> Well, an hour in a chat room is all my attention span can stand... so, it was nice
talking to all of you and, Eric, congrats and talk to you soon.
<RedHatty> you did a great job through it all, thanks!
> thanks, everyone!
> I had a great time
<enaxor> yes good job
> http://www.edricgames.wetpaint.com
> that's my website
<enaxor> no morre grumpy gus enaxor
> and my AIM screen name is edricgamez
<RedHatty> btw, loved the little personal notes from Snowball
> Smile
> thanks
<enaxor> I still giggle about the gingerbread men running around
<RedHatty> lol me too
> lol
> I liked when they got into the toothpick stash
<RedHatty> the book one was awesome - I have the greatest librarians in the world here
<enaxor> lol
> if I do say so myself. Smile
> yeah, that must've been funny for her
> OK, well, I guess that's all.
<RedHatty> she was a doll, she sounded like a "mature" woman
> Is someone going to log this, or should I?
<enaxor> you please
> OK sure
> lol
<RedHatty> thanks
<enaxor> thanks
> g'night, all
> Merry Unficmas and a happy new ARG!
<enaxor> night and thanks
<enaxor> hehe, cute
> *blatantly stole that from Jetamo
<enaxor> lol
<RedHatty> love it!
<enaxor> I'd have never known
> well, I felt kind of bad
> lol

Thanks again, all. No one had me angry, really... I like a challenge every now and then! And, I'm sorry for making the puzzles too difficult for some folks with certain disabilities to complete.

Wink

Until next year!
