I agree that they seem to be chessboard locations, but they certainly aren't legal moves.

Does the bottom line contain a typo?

frequency count:

a6 x 4
b2 x 5
b4 x 2
b6 x 1
b7 x 2
c5 x 2
c7 x 3
d2 x 1
d4 x 1
d5 x 1
d6 x 1
e2 x 2
e3 x 2
e4 x 2
e7 x 1
f2 x 2
f5 x 3
f6 x 2
f7 x 1
g2 x 1
g4 x 1
g7 x 1
h2 x 3
h3 x 1
h6 x 1
h7 x 1

a6 and b2 are the most frequently repeating symbols. i would venture a guess that one of these is E Wink

i'd also venture a guess that it's not this straighforward.

i noticed that he as well. not sure what to make of it.

it's most likely the clue to cracking the puzzle. maybe indicating the h? = e. if that was the case, it would be h2, as it repeats 3 times versus the other h frequencies of 1. in addition, if this indeed a substitution cipher of some sort, it might be in reverse. only a vowel can exist as a 1-letter word, ie. b4. b4 ends the verse, and it isn't proper grammar to end a sentence with I unless it's question, and it would never end with A.

blackhawk: i can't log in to chat from work, for whatever reason. =/

but we've already had a cipher clue *exactly* like that, in the very first puzzle. That would be lazy to do it again.

have we? i don't know, just got in to this last night.

perhaps there is something hidden in the image. curious that the code is given to us that way.

maybe, and this is really guessing, the image is grid like in it's pixellation, or an 8x8 square exists within it. maybe letters are hiding in each square, corresponding with the symbols.

Does that big King mean anything, or is it just nice decoration? (I have no idea, I'm basically just saying things as I see them now...)

Well, if we're pointing out things on goldenskull's page, "he" has a song on the playlist "Say it right" by Nelly Furtado- which could be a clue.
Plus, under the image it says purff obneq, possibly a substitution cipher?

In chat, Sylvia pointed out that Tyi's Xanga page has updated. In the terminal prompt, if you type "posts", you get his latest post, which contains this:

I just hacked into the new skulls page. I found something hidden in the page. I don't know if it will help you but I will post it for you.

Gee, could this be useful for solving the chessboard code??

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

First, line up the blue dots on the top keyboard with the top four rows of a standard chessboard diagram. For example, a7 = Q, b7 = W, c7 = E, etc.

Then notice that the bottom keyboard is flipped upside down and the blue dots are shifted to the right. Use that keyboard for the bottom four rows of the chessboard grid. So, a2 = P, b2=O, c2 = I, etc.

Then you simply substitute the letter at each location and you get:

[EDIT: I left out an important word!]

IF YOU CAN READ THIS THEN YOU HAVE THE KEY. NOW WE CAN MOVE ON.

good call on the music being a clue, i was thinking the same. purff obneq rot13s to 'chess board'.

Shocked Wow... I didn't think that my suggestion would work! (probably because I'm not as good as others when it comes to these kind of puzzles...)
