Interesting Attempt At Buying Cards I found this humorous, doubt you will lol. Fun time in a shop today. Was going to buy some cards (I've only just started playing) and had the following conversation;
"Do you sell perplex city cards?"
"Hmm....That's interesting."
"And why's that?"
"Well, I only have one person who buys them, so I generally order a box in for them"
"Oh."
"....I'll see what I can do."
Needless to say, I'm still cardless To occupy my time I'm hunting PXC forums to try and find this one person (Purely because I thought I was the only one in my area, and because I wanna know exactly how much a whole box costs )
Anyone else had to especially order the cards in?

I'm with you Jenna - I think I'm the only player in all of Milton Keynes, and when I phoned the local comic shop to see if they could get any in stock, they too offered the whole box or nothing conundrum. £80, I think they said. That's a lot of money to me!
Still, at least we're getting a Borders soon(ish), so they'll satisfy my needs. Sure, I could buy them online, but there's something to be said for wandering into a shop and picking the packs out yourself...

Picking packs personally (and writing alliteratively) is worse then just being sent some - I got two packs that were all duplicates when I personally picked a pair of packs from Borders whilst waiting for an interview... I felt quite guilty!

Hi Jenna, I have an idea for you which worked for me to find players near me!!
To find your mystery PXC Player why not when you next go in leave a note with the shop manager and tell him/her to give it to the person whom comes in and buys the cards
Or on your PXC Profile you can set a TAG called 'ROMFORD' and see if it will get thier attention
Michael
It took me time to find other players around where i live,

I know what you're all saying. I'm the only person in Cincinnati, OH to play Perplex City. 13 card shops, 13, within 25 minutes drive. 12 have never heard of the game. The 13th, which specializes in odd games, has heard of it but has never ordered a single box because no one plays. Bugger all.

I work in London but live in Luton - and there are 3 players there, plus I know of 1 more in Bedford which isnt that far away....perhaps we could become the home counties Massive!

Chicken? Egg? Chicken?! Egg?! CHICKEN?! EGG?!?! *head explodes*
One option would be to take all your duplicates and start placing them around town (preferrably near the 13th store), with a note attached saying if you are interested in more, ask [name of guy who owns store] to stock them. Seed the ground as it were.

Speaking of pub meets, is there anything (semi-)regular in London at all? If not, does anyone fancy going for a beer or anything at any point?

I think i'm the only one in Dartford even though we got a Forbiden Planet in town that sells the cards.

I know of at least two other players from Plymouth. I've traded with one of them and had to turn the other one down for free cards recently because i had none left...
...anyway, my point is...3 players from the percieved "backwater (middle of nowhere)" of the country, not bad considering that there is only two from the relatively hip and trendy Romford, near the bustling hubbub of Lahndann Tahnn!

I live in New York -- The OTHER New York .. you know .. that state off to the side of long island. I might be the only player upstate, not counting people I've introduced. (poughkeepsie is not upstate.) (i imagine I should amend 'upstate' to be 'western new york', cos schenectady is still quite a trip, eh)
So like, I would be the person who went in and bought a box of packs -- except any retailer i ask has more or less informed me it would be just as easy fFor me to buy it myself. They appear to have missed the point of a "retail outlet".
/me imagines calling up parker brothers and ordering a palette of board games. I wonder if Nissin would send me an 18-wheeler of Ramen.
