Well

I dont know what methods you guys use if any, but this topic was touched on once already around the 4th or 5th i think of last month. We all have our different talents with different ways of solving a problem. Now I cant go showin you all my cards, but for one thing,, when the new material was posted, the page url changed from
http://www.sectorseven.org/remoteclient.php
to
http://www.sectorseven.org/remoteclient.php?login=Takara83

that was a big clue something was different.

Now.... lets start goin through this new material shall we?

bit of info to help ease the tension

Hi all (mdoerators... i will get an account on day Very Happy )

just to help along a bit.... the yellow image ames posted that someone else saw tried to get the numbers from..... its from the teaser trailer. How do i know? ames was asked where it came from... his answer 7777,666,555,44 the countdown from the start of the teaser trailer. that was the hint. The photo is from when the rover is on mars and is scanning around just before it is attacked. exact time? i'm still trying to find a way to download the teaser in its highest res so that i can look at it also. but that screen shot came from the part where the transformers shadow just started to appear and u hear it walking. where the first seven came from? well the res aint high enuf for me to tell.... ames i tried the neagtive space. brightness down, contrast up inverted etc. i'm just not good with photoshop yet. hope this helps people a little more.

ohhhhhh baby...
;)

NOW THATS WHAT I'm TALKIN BOUT!!!! b_dann_b you got it EXACTLY! you did what I do, you knew that of course it was transformer related. YOU PUT ONE AND ONE TOGETHER ALL BY YOURSELF AND GOT TWO. Since the whole point of this is to solve mysteries and search for clues, you should really be able to come up with things on your own. As for solving this latest mystery, BELLS WENT OFF WHEN THE URL FOR REMOTE CLIENT CHANGED... thats when I used other methods as described in previous postings to find out where that lead.

Im sorry but I shouldnt have to spell everything out to you when there are things you SHOULD know how I arrived there. Its not my fault nobody paid attention to the urls, even though we had talked about the folders several times. Thats really all I have to say.
Oh and YA, YOU RULE b_dann_b, no training wheels for you! Drinks on me!

I'm not sure what you're talking about, here. Generally speaking, the people who don't "spell things out" and who try to challenge players to put things together themselves are the PMs, not other players.

Or gamejackers, who are in essence players trying to behave like PMs.

According to UF's TOS, PMs or behind-the-scenes participants in ARGs may not post in their game's thread while the game is running. Gamejacking, while not expressly forbidden in the TOS, is bad form.

I hope that this situation falls into neither category.

AND HERE WE GO AGAIN

I sorry if not everyone gets it, but if I choose not to tell how i got to that login I should not be jumped on just because others can't figure out how I did, escpecially when there where not ONE , but TWO things different, the URL and the where I got the information. its so common. Don't jump my ass when you missed the little things that I noticed solved. This is my first time doing something like this site and even I noticed it right away. Dont blame me cause you missed it.

Well then, I "followed your advice" and found out where you got the password... I'm only posting and spoilering this because not everyone has the ability or knowledge to find it, and because ams707 so strongly wants people to find it for themselves.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I checked the decompiled flash code as I typically do with ARGs that I'm following. The two passwords are listed clearly in the code of one of the source files - each form as ams707 listed earlier, to avoid problems with basic letter upper/lower cases.

I'm worried at this point as to whether we were 'supposed' to find this password already, so I think we should keep looking to find out where it may be found in what we've already got. It may not have been intended that we find it yet, if updates are indeed being made as we speak. So at this point, it seems we've 'jumped ahead', as it were.

It happens a lot, no worries. Hopefully this is just next the step in the game, and we simply missed a clue. But perhaps now this hole will be plugged for next time Razz we like challenges... Very Happy

oh and...

I realllllllly resent the fact that not one, BUT TWO of you have now accused and or implied i am a PM. just because you missed it. Maybe thats how things in your paranoid world works, but here in my world, people arent burned alive and accused of being a cheating PM just for finding something new.

And I cant speak for any PM's, but that would be boring as hell if I was one, and going through all this. Please restrain calling me a cheater just because I actually made progress that you didnt. The only reason i did say figure it yourself WAS BECAUSE IT WAS SOOOOOOO OBVIOUS. not my fault you missed it
I am tired of defending myself for finally making headway on the site. Deal with it.

THis is why i didnt post where i found it.

I'm worried at this point as to whether we were 'supposed' to find this password already, so I think we should keep looking to find out where it may be found in what we've already got.

Actually the fact that the login directs to a fdifferent page indicates that the original remoteclient was never ment to be undated and instead replaced. We didnt miss anything.

The whole point is not to solve YOUR misteries and search for YOUR clues, however.

The first reason for this is obviously that that's not how we work here - had we "discussed" games by posting hints and clues to each other as to how to find stuff, everyone would quickly get lost in the thousand of hints and clues from everyone else, and this place would have collapsed a long time ago. This is an open discussion forum (as is clearly stated in the TOS) - not a "let's make a game out of talking about a game" forum.

Second reason is that about 75% of the "clues" you post are garbage. You posted "And I HAVE found something... but until i connect the dot ill hold off on sharing. all i will say is THE NEGETIVE SPACE speaks volumes." Afaict, this "clue" never resulted in anything, non? You posted about finding a "definite pattern" once, and then again - both these times being garbage as well. Then you post this gem - in what twisted world, given your history, would this look legitimate and clue-like to anybody??

Of course you can chose not to tell how you get stuff. Of course you should expect people to jump on your ass for that. See reasoning above.

Dude, you'd better calm down. No one is accusing you of being a PM (we've learned that PMs spell better, to begin with) - people are worried that you might be finding information in less-than-legitimate-ways, which is understandable, given that you refuse to post the ways in which you find it. My advise: re-think your attitude before the mods here start taking it seriously.

Here in the uF world we SHARE our progress on friendly terms. Because ARG is not a contest or a race, but a journey that we play cooperatively.

Many of us do not have computer cracking skills, decoding skills, flash decompiling skills. We are just friendly folks who like good stories and we lurk vicariously watching others find the stuff (and then follow their trail). And we LEARN when the smart folks share their methodology.

My dear boy/girl/whatever, I didn't miss anything because I'm not playing the game, so it's not a point of pride to me whether I found something or not. I'm doing my job as a moderator. We get gamejacking attempts and PM postings frequently, so whenever there are postings that resemble those attempts, someone usually investigates and informs the poster of the TOS in case they didn't read it, so that if they are a PM or BTS person, they can mend their ways rather than getting banned.

If you're not, fine. You have nothing to worry about.

Anyway, carry on, everyone. Rolling Eyes

Whenever ive posted picts with OBVIOUS Patterns of what appear to be somthing unnatural about it and say I HAVE found something... but until i connect the dot ill hold off on sharing., I mean, I HAVE FOUND A PATTERN< IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE A MESSAGE OR A CLUE. I never said it would be the end all and be all answer, I mearly point out things I have found that appear to be clues, AND SHARED THEM with you, hoping TOGETHER we could see if it is a message. And yes, they werent anything, but isnt that what we are suppost to be doing. Ill be the firt to say that Ive gone down roads looking for something that wnded up not leading anywhere, but I will never apologize for trying AND SHARING that with you,
Make uop your mind, I share too much or too little.

Here in the uF world we SHARE our progress on friendly terms. Because ARG is not a contest or a race, but a journey that we play cooperatively.

I share what I think is some progress and now your gonna throw it back at me, Thats really nice.

And I get that you have to investigate if you think someone might be a PM, but come on...

I didnt cause this whole fued. You all did by simple not following what i posted AS A 100% update, not a message found in a picture. Asking where I got the answer is one thing, DEMANDING oover and over and over is quite another, especially when it was a very obvious change in the site and in the flash.

Enjoy the new material, I am done dealing with all of your drama today as I have art school to attend to. And if anything else changes on the site make sure to send me a dealed report in triplicate.

This just in...

It looks like this new password came from the new advertisement on ESPN.com.

So theres no confusion... i read that on another site and then confimed it myself by actually going to the site and seeing it.

the advertisment is at the top of the page. it flashes the password in the top right. Detailed enough? Can everyone follow?

Now, how does that make any sense?
ams707 wrote:

Ok, that's nice. Let's not forget to include that you refuse to say a) what you found; b) where you found it (as in this example.)
Quote:
but until i connect the dot ill hold off on sharing.,

Er, ok. If you found something, but you're not sure whether it's something or nothing, then why post it in the first place? All it does is clutter the board and annoy people that read the post: "well, jee, I'm certainly glad I've been informed on this person's progress of looking into something that may be nothing. Not that I know what it is, and, therefore, whether I care about it. Nope, not a waste of my time at all Rolling Eyes "

Quote:
I mean, I HAVE FOUND A PATTERN< IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE A MESSAGE OR A CLUE. I never said it would be the end all and be all answer, I mearly point out things I have found that appear to be clues,

No. In the example above, you fail to point out what it is. "And I HAVE found something" is very different from "I found THIS, and THIS is here." Do you not see the difference?
Quote:
AND SHARED THEM with you, hoping TOGETHER we could see if it is a message.

Again, no. You didn't share anything other than the fact that you found something. How you can expect anyone to do anything together with you based on this non-information is beyond me.
Quote:
And yes, they werent anything, but isnt that what we are suppost to be doing.

No. We are most definitely, without any doubt about it whatsoever, not supposed to be chasing your ill-constructed clues to information that turns out to be completely irrelevant. That is a waste of time, and we have better things to waste our time on.
Quote:
Ill be the firt to say that Ive gone down roads looking for something that wnded up not leading anywhere, but I will never apologize for trying AND SHARING that with you,

You weren't SHARING it - and that's the point. If you told us straight out what you've found, we would have been able to decide whether it merits our investigation. Reading that you may have found something, and, in some cases, trying to figure out what/where it might be before knowing what it is and being able to determine if it is worthy of our attention is, again, a waste of our time.

Quote:
I didnt cause this whole fued.

Er, yes, you did.

Quote:
You all did by simple not following what i posted AS A 100% update, not a message found in a picture.

At the time of posting, there are 293433 posts on this board. I am willing to bet that there is not one (other than yours) that says "This is an update. I am deliberately not telling you where it is or how to get it." Do you not see the utter lack of logic (let alone of forum etiquette) in such a message??

Quote:
Asking where I got the answer is one thing, DEMANDING oover and over and over is quite another, especially when it was a very obvious change in the site and in the flash.

*headdesk* They only demand over and over because you refuse to tell them over and over. Most of the time it's ok, because, as I've mentioned above, most of your "answers" are garbage, but even in the cases where they aren't, if you don't tell people where it's coming from, how can they decide if it's something they're interested in? And if it does turn out to be interesting, how can they investigate it further if they don't know where it is (and especially what it is)?

Quote:
It looks like this new password came from the new advertisement on ESPN.com.

You could have saved everyone a couple pages of ranting by simply posting that OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT in the first place. A simple "there is a new password that leads to new files; it is xxxx; I found said password by decking the flash [or by whatever means you found it]" would have sufficed.
