What colour are the Laissez Passer documents.

I say that because looking at the wiki link given there is an example of an Israeli Consulate given one and it is read.

I know it may be reaching (as the colour of the United Nations is cyan/turquoise) but as the purpose of a Laissez Passer is to get them to the country issuing the document, what country issues turquoise ones?

Trawling through http://www.worldpassports.org/ doesnt really give any sensible suggestions though.

quality of question

I say we are following a trail that has been given as clues left in the library of babel. An english telephone, a hotel in england with a clock and a stone countertop with red wallpaper behind it. An international passport. Flying above the clouds, yello taxis, driving long distances.

I know this does not clarify the location like listening to an imaginary argument between fictional characters, but at least it gives me a reason to keep looking for a box 100c.

Hell, maybe there are multiple boxes left in NATO countries and all will be found.

Just for fun.

I just wondered what made you think it was an English Telephone? In fact, why England at all? I don't see where you got this from ??

But haven't we ascertained that CT landed in New York and then flew elsewhere? I don't know anyone who thinks it's in New York except for the people who live in the US, the same as people in the UK think it's here. We're probably both wrong as I doubt it's in a city as it would be near impossible to bury anything there, but as you said, each to his own and nobody knows yet . . .

Not everyone... I think the weight of evidence is for NY, but it's not for certain...

Where does CT say he identified the city?

Also, was there a 2. to follow this? Smile

Changing the letters to rotary phone numbers gives this string:

The numbers 1 and 2 share letters on traditional dials, so the twos could be ones as well.

It's possible that the mod here is figuring out what words can be spelled out with the coresponding numbers, which seems a bit far-fetched but I can't think of anything better to do with the numbers. At any rate, I have to go to work so I won't be able to play with it more until later on this evening.

I'm about a month behind so pardon if anyone has posted this already, but for the past couple days I've been thinking that the long string of letters needs to be translated into GPS coordinates somehow. When the M/E wound up in the middle of the string I figured that was a clue we were supposed to split the string into latitude and longitude at that point. The question was, how do we convert it to numbers? I just read this and realized this is one way to do it.

The bad news is that most of the possible ways to express the two numbers:
372785234767658264396
363254354873722545846

lead to the middle of water, but one combination so far looks somewhat promising:

37 27.85234767658264396' N, 36 32.54354873722545846' E

Which is in southern Turkey in the middle of a forest (i.e. arboreal area) according to Google Earth.

Here's a Google Maps link

I certainly haven't tried every way of expressing it so I don't think anyone should book a flight just yet, but I do seem to recall quite early in the game there was a picture from an airport that reminded someone of an airport in Turkey. (Then again, that could just be me inventing a memory to validate my theory... Sigh).

Anyway, yet more fodder for the spec mill.

I think the payphone in dissolution is english because it matches pictures I found on a google image search....

A GPT Marconi CT600
http://www.worldpayphones.com/carribean/country-StLucia.htm

Sorry about the big link before.

Pay Phones

The link I just posted might alter my theory a bit, seems that payphone is in St. Lucia.

Now lets see....

British Public Payphone, Steam, Yello Cars, Intense Cold.

It would not be in the Carribean.

I wonder what countries GPT Marconi sold thier phones to,
I've never seen one in the US.

Where in Britain or British territory is there intense cold?

Librery of Babel Visual Clues
And Maybe some Audio

I may start a new thread if there is any interest.

The location of the CUBES original entry.

Hard Stone, Steem, Yellow Cars, Intense Cold.
Buildings All Around, after starting to walk a Cubical with Phone (GPT Marconi CT600), another minute or two another phone,
Woman with Heavy overcoat (British accent as A sound in the pronunciation of "answer" is distinctive), Answer is on third Phone.

Dirty Grey Snow, Car With Black Window, Tide Marks of Salt on Paving Stones,
-HOTEL-
Clock With Roman Numerals, Red Background, Brown Counter, Marble Surface, Tan Counter.

At the end of "TICKS" there is a blip of sound that I would be interested in decoding if someone could help.

Is there a place in the British Empire that gets snow often?

The Local as far as I know, if it in the States would be Boston, or Philidelphia.

Whatever city it is surely it is not a very modern city because of the paving stones.

It also gets snow often, because of the "Tide Marks of Salt"

Large city as there is a minute or two walk to payphones and there are at least three.

Hotel is obviously a high grade...

Any Four-Star hotels in Britain with Red Wallpaper, a Brown Marble Counter-Top and Wood Counter with a Clock with Roman Numerals?
