made me think of radar. hope it's not a 12 hour flight, that would take CT right out of the country. My guess is that s/he took JFK>largest int airport in NY. that's what i allways went through if i wanted to get a flight to europe. here's hoping CT just hopped a flight to ATL....... anyone got any ideas for our letter string now? it's a cipher, but what type?

I don't know if anyone else has picked up on this but I have just read all of the transcripts over and over again and a few things stick out to me :

1 CT mentions fellow travellers can be dangerous, he should know in the very first message, there is also a mention of tickets twice in the transcripts, this to me, indicates that CT is not alone as the plural of ticket is used twice. Why would CT need more than 1 ticket for whatever it is and how would he know that fellow travellers are dangerous?

2 It seems to me that CT travels more than once during the passages, it starts (we assume) somewhere like New York, then in message 4 flying is mentioned. Then again flying is mentioned in message 8. Does CT in fact fly somewhere from New York and then again?

3 Messages 5 and 6 made me think of CT being imprisoned and in some places even dead, although I doubt this!. There are lots of references to things being closed, time going slowly, no-one moving or speaking, he has changed, he is reflective and contemplative in these messages and wishes things had been different. Added to this is that message 7 starts with us choosing a key, maybe he was released from somewhere?

4 CT is following instructions, he answers the phone, gets picked up, goes to the hotel, has his travel documents etc. What does all this mean? Someone else knows where he is and where he is going. The last message ends with him going to presumably bury the cube with the shovel. This is also an instruction so maybe someone else knows where the cube is?

I know this is probably all wrong but I just wondered what everyone else thinks about this?

2 parts to this post: 1 to deal with stuff in the message, and 1 for random spec which should probably go elsewhere...

1.
- MODding stuff implies that there's an "original", non-modded number.
- Clocks seem to keep turning up - remember the hotel lobby? Maybe the third part of the animation here is on a similar theme. Maybe this refers to, say, the direction in which we end up facing following each path?

2.
Is it possible/plausible that someone in PXC (e.g. Sente) knew about everything in advance, arranged for the cube to fire itself to Earth (with CT, who is perhaps an "innocent", or framed, in this), and contacted MC in advance to arrange all the details? (Following from this, CT = Guy P?)

I have some ideas, will be back soon...

I like that idea, but Guy wasn't working for them at the point when the Cube went missing, he was here Smile

MC are the only organisation that we have knowledge of that were on earth at the time when the cube went missing.../meta but is that plot incest?

Well said Very Happy , this is basically the conclusion I keep ended up with when I think about all of this. We know Sente has his fingers in pretty much everything, and probably established the relationship with MC. Therefore, it is very possible that he arranged all of this to get the Cube away from the 3P. I think he knew the 3P theft would take place, and this was the best way to thwart it and buy some time.

On a sort of tangent, we know that a Djinn style worm was used in the theft. I'm thinking it was written by Sente to help CT get to the Cube. We know from Anna's blog that Sente probably has the skills to do it. Too bad Shuffled isn't solved yet. If it was Sente, I think that would further support the above theory.

Of course, this doesn't really help us figure out where the Cube is. Guy's desk?

Ok, enough speculative rambling from me. Coffee calls.

Mod

I just thought of something else, in programming languages the mod function is frequently represented by a percent sign. This function returns the remainder of a division operation.

Maybe "mod" is telling us to find the remainder or leftovers from something? Maybe the letter string derived from the key square routes?

I think either we need to mod something, or we already have the results of mods, e.g. in the 1-4 digits.

For the first, I've tried adding each letter in the string to a progressive letter in COMBEDTHUNDERCLAP (as "me" seems to be highlighted in the first part of the anim), but don't get anything. i.e. F + C, R + O, B + M...

Also tried going backwards if the orientation of the number is upside down, e.g. F + C, R + O, B -M... Oh, and reversing the two, as well. Couldn't see anything initially.

For the latter, it may be that either the first digit (the 1-4 at the start of the string) is the leftover, or that the direction we end up in represents this. But in this case (i.e. if we have the results of a mod), shouldn't there be zeros in there somewhere?

I just want to mention that the key remains clickable troughout the animation.

The key is clickable when it appears. The click does nothing that i can see.

this may be the clickable part at the end over the 'vel' section of Shovel.

the letters in the helix come up in 4 rows in the flash, 4 sets of letters separate each 'level' in the helix. By this i mean AAA BBB CCC DDD AAA BBB CCC DDD.

Hope that helps somone. [/spoiler]

A quick search on Google, reveals that a 12 hour flight from NYC takes you to:

Cairo, Israel, or Auckland!

Of course, this information only came from the first few matches. There's probably many more places where the cube could be. Needless to say, I really hope it isn't buried anywhere like this...

Remember that the % symbol, while in IT being MOD, is also just plain old Divide in the Real World. Also remember we have a 'Half the World', or could I say phonetically 'Halve the world'

Yes, but in the animation, the central slash moves, and a m appears, spelling out "mod". Seems pretty clear cut to me....

I think that the string we have found could be a key to something else (like a one-time pad). But the question is what?
