The Image The image appearing is a blazon. However at this time I can't really give much input as I do not know the colours. But, here is what I do know.
With the Escutheon of Pretence, with a grappling iron, it is most likely claiming sovereignty over piracy, as the grappling iron was used in naval combat.
The six feathers are a sign of obedience, however they are docked in certain areas. Count them, the normal seems to be 14, however some have 13 and 12. Until we get more images, we cannot be certain that there are more feathers with more docks. To me, those feathers signifying obedience is pointing out (once the whole picture is available) something to follow.
I find it quite interesting really the image that is being shown. With Vista coming out that is even more secure against piracy, perhaps Microsoft is showing this through VP? Who knows - but that's what the blazon is saying.
Good luck.

[Workaround] collectionplate logout a workaround to view the collectionplate page and stay logged in Step One: visit www.vanishingpointgame.com and login
Step Two: click the puzzle box for the week you want to look for the pieces in
Step Three: click the puzzle box for a different week
Step Four: in the second window change the url to www.vanishingpointgame.com/collectionplate
you may have to make the window full screen by hitting F11 to be able to change the url
Step Five: Hunt for the puzzle boxes in the first puzzle box window
Step Six: Once a piece is found you can refresh(F5) the collectionplate page

Thalin - great stuff!
And thanks for posting that, randomeis - IRC asked him to do that because it cuts down on the logging in and out required if you are hunting for a white box that you clicked but which did not register. That's assuming you didn't get the glitch that only solves by shutting the browser down entirely and then coming back in.

I was trying to make some sense of the picture and I found something interesting.
Its is probably a dead end, and has more differences than similarities, but the tail feathers and the grapnel made me think it was worth posting.

Rendon, see Thalin's post above about what a grapnel means in a coat of arms.

darn quote doesn't show the picture. the name is russian.
If I remember my transliteration right. robi lyudyam dobro
That would be a direct trasliteration if I remember the one for the second letter in the second word correctly (in english is pronounced like you) the backwards n can be transliterated as either an i or an e, in either case it is a long E sound

I would also like to point on on the symbology of crests that they do mean different things in the different cultures that used family crests.
English (or he United Kingdom, scots primarily used the kilt, but do have crests also) Germany(or Prussia, when most of the coat of arms would have existed), France, Russia.
Although I doubt they would bring in language and cultural differences into the game just a friendly reminder

While I'm not an expert in heraldry, one of my uncles is. Calling this a blazon isn't technically accurate. A blazon is a textual representation of a family's coat of arms. It's entirely possible for the visual representation of the coat of arms to change over time, but the blazon, what the crest is meant to represent, should remain more or less static.
However, I think Thalin is on to something. I don't think we're necessarily going to be looking for this exact crest, but one that can be described the same way.

That Grapnell in the Crest sure looks a lot like... See the Logo AMD's logo! "Golden Jewelry?" Sure would be to AMD.
