[META] - Has Everything Been Found in the Meta Puzzle?

So I know I am one of a minority of people who think there is much more to the story than we have found. (I may be the only one.)

But I don't understand two things:

1. Why would we reach such a dead end on the "murmuring rocks" part of the META puzzle? This doesn't make sense to me at all.

2. In the second video, where Loki says "it took him two weeks to figure out he could go in through a window instead of a door" It really sounds like she is talking to us -telling us to look for another way in.

I think we need to keep looking. I've tried different things- the answers to the puzzles, decoding the cards Loki used to link us to the puzzles, etc. -but I am not having much luck.

So if anyone has a better explanation for these two questions, other than my conclusion that we are missing stuff, please let me know. Smile

edit - split from general help thread because this needs a thread of its own. - ad

I agree with you, Rose. We're not at the end of this trail at all. There should be more after Puzzle box 2 than just the collectionplate.

The idea that he had to go in through his "Window". This seems pretty obvious that we're dealing with Windows OS (but with it's new name). But sounds like a clue to me.

We know that everything is in the script for a reason. And in the second video there are snaps away from her head to objects in the room? Those also might be clues.

We also know that the META cannot be fully solved until after the last puzzle box is open/solved. But that doesn't mean we don't have more information we can find with what we have available now.

You make a very good argument, Rose. I guess the question is, are the producers nimble enough to adjust the content of the Loki videos to push us forward when we hit a stumbling block, or were they pre-filmed in advance and just released at the right times?

I'd have to think that if we're stuck for very much longer, we'll end up getting another clue in some form, especially considering there's a timeline at work. But you certainly could be right. Now, is there a rock around here we can use to break that window? Smile

I have the same feeling as well. i have been picking the video apart and trying everything I can think of to find the next step but have had no luck at all.

My only other thought is that maybe they didn't expect us to find the white boxes from the start, and that after finding /collectionplate they figured we would spend a few days figuring out what we needed to collect and going back through the puzzles having to find them all. (It would not be the first time we were ahead of a game Laughing )

The only problem is that if this week was to be solely about finding collectionplate boxes, then it is simple busywork and does nothing to move along the meta storyline. I would think that with the minds behind the game, and the obvious deadline approaching in a couple weeks, that we would most certainly have more to find.

The only thing I have been working on as an idea is that the change of the card on the postcards puzzle may not have simply been done to help clarify a puzzle, but maybe that is our "window" we need to be paying attention to. Maybe the lines on her dress across her midsection are alluding to "sawing a woman in half" which would also tie in with the last video. I don't know, I am probably just grasping at straws, but it is a thought.

The right window
META puzzle [SPEC]

I have a few Ideas regarding the META puzzle but can't seem to string anything together.

First, Loki in the puzzle box video states that we "[SPEC] need to find/get in through the window. What window?

In her story she says that she put up on bulletin board in front of the door, and covers it with posters/flyers/signs. In the game, she is covering the 36 puzzles with "white boxes" our posters/flyers/sign. So I turned to the 12 puzzles that don't have "white boxes," and I came across some curious data.

Our first nine are...

Sundial = Helios
Pocketwatches = Green
Current Events = Horizon

Two brothers = Amaze
Magic lesson = Sewanee, TN
Cups and Balls = Stage

Disco = this world today is a mess
Mayan calander = Bronze
Treasure = Seventeen

The omitted puzzle box one answers are:

Helios Green Horizon
>
Aurora Borealis

Note the FFFFFF change the wikipedia article, was Revision as of 16:31, 13 January 2007 "bright ffffff glow" the reverted

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aurora_%28astronomy%29&diff=100501323&oldid=100459639

description of (Helios Green Horizon) a simular event that can happen everywhere all the time

http://mintaka.sdsu.edu/GF/pictures.html

that's all I have. haven't been able to get anywhere. does anyone have any Ideas?

Puzzle Box two

Two brothers = AMAZE
Magic lesson = Sewanee, TN
Cups and Balls = Stage

The magic lesson's answer stikes me as very odd,

Magic lesson = Sewanee, TN

there not a whole lot symbolism coming from this town

The Templeton Library (Maybe allusion to Charlotte's Web by E.B. White? *note the edit to the Wiki page above.)

but there is also:

Sewanee, Tennessee
Sewanee, The University of the South
Sewanee Review
Sewanee 1899 College Football Team
Sewanee Natural Bridge
Saint Andrews-Sewanee School

Puzzle box 3
Disco = this world today is a mess (title of a song by Donna Hightower, http://www.geocities.com/ha_hammer/thisworldtoday.htm)

Mayan calander = Bronze

Treasure = Seventeen

title of a song by Donna Hightower, http://www.geocities.com/ha_hammer/thisworldtoday.htm)

Sewanee Natural Bridge seems like be a nice plot initiator. but again I'm at a loss.

This might all be over analysis, as I have yet been able to connect a link back to the vansingpointgame.com site.

But I figured there might be someone that can contribute to this line of investigation.

I've Sent emails to L.kitsuneSPLATamd.com with WHITE is the subject line, and the message text. No bounce!

Here is something I noticed that seems like a similarity between the two videos:

For the most part, the image stays focused on Loki, but in video 1 ("time"), it cuts away only once, while she is talking about her college majors:

Quote:
SHOT: Loki's head and upper torso, hands playing with pocketwatch chain
...all in only two years, but my grades weren't that outstanding.
CUT TO: shot of Loki's feet, shoes, and legs of director's chair
I got a lot of calls from recruiters but
CUT TO: Loki's head and upper torso again
only one noticed that my GPA was exactly
CUT TO: closeup on Loki
3.1416
CUT TO: head/torso shot again

In video #2 ("magic"), again the shot stays mostly focused on Loki, only cutting away twice:

Quote:
SHOT: closeup on Loki
So I'm in this room
CUT TO: shot of bottom of director's chair, tip of magic wand visible, no legs/feet visible
with the one recruiter
CUT TO: medium shot of head/torso
usually these guys ask about your research or your grades
CUT TO: close shot of Loki's head
but this guy looks me in the eye and says...

and again here:
Quote:
SHOT: close shot of Loki's head
and you can't forget about the base boards
CUT TO: shot of Loki's right hand holding tip of wand and right knee
and I hung one of those big huge billboards across the
CUT TO: close shot of Loki's head
walls, advertising swim meets or book swaps...

Other people have observed that at the first cutaway in this second vid, her legs seem to be missing/vanished. It is hard to tell for sure, but the position of her legs in the second cutaway certainly makes it look like they should be visible in the earlier cutaway.

But the thing I wanted to point out is that the cutaway in the first vid and the first cutaway in the second comes right when she is talking about recruiters. Now, she does mention the recruiter again toward the end of the second vid, and there is no cut away, so it may not mean anything, but I thought thought it was strange to be so specific like that..

As long as we are talking about things seen on the videos, what about the first one on the main page of the game called Hear The Challenge?

This video cuts to several different things specifically.
White gloves
Room Service tray with Flowers, and matches.
A notebook with the Bellagio
Stop watches
Notebook with notes
Herodotus Book
Wrappers on the night stand
Genealogy

Some of these refer to places and the puzzels.

Other notes on videos:

She keeps the one stop watch in the challenge video.
She has that in the first video referring to the time puzzles.
She has a magic wand type cane in the second video after solving the magic puzzles.

Just food for thought really hoping to add to the discussion and maybe lead to some answers.

Loki's Readings

Hey guys,

The book Loki is reading in the challenge video is The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire Vol. 2. Here is a link:

http://www.worldwideschool.org/library/boo...e-2/chap58.html

The fourth paragraph on that site is the text visible from the video.

Very interesting analysis. I like the idea that we need to focus not on the things that we're being shown as important, but the ones that are not.

it is very possible that these words are a hint to a stage in sewanee, where something amazing will happen! or did happen. Because it does seem curious that such a specific place would be an answer to a puzzle!

I doubt that the Sewanee answer means anything - the magic trick video does not appear to have been created for this game and so it is probably random which zip code came up.

What makes you think the video was not done for us? That would not be characteristic of our PMs. Plus so convenient they just happened to find a video with a zip code in discards. I assumed they hired a card magician to do it for us.

I wonder if there are any famous theaters in Sewannee.

For what it's worth, Jon Armstrong is a well-known magician specializing in card-tricks and the like: http://www.cardjon.com/

did anyone look at http://www.cardjon.com/pages/aboutjon.html

I can't find only record of "Tom Skrunk" the (VP of marketing for microsoft), or derivitive there of? in reference to microsoft, at microsoft or anywhere. Why would he fake the name of such a high level position? That should be public knowledge, and investor information. In game or out?

edit - deleted dupe quote - ad
