Murmuring Rock

The mumuring rock is german folklore and there is a rock called 'Lorelei' by the banks of the Rhine. Loki mentioned one of her qualifications was in folklore!

Loki says the Murmuring Rock project is on hold.

I did find a German-based Projekt Loreley

I might be wrong (I hope I am) but this seems like a decent stopping point for this meta puzzle for now from a writer's perspective. We might not get anything more until friday.

Here's a transcript of the voice mail:

Hi this is Loki. Or rather, her electronic footprint left behind on this machine. Funny how the inanimate world retains traces of things long after they disappear, isn't it? If you're calling about the Murmuring Rock project, it's on hold indefinitely, unfortunately.

The Murmuring Rock = German folklore thing connects with her majors in school.

If Murmuring Rock = Lorelei/Loreley, then my guess is:

LO from Lorelei
KI from Kitsune

gives us Loki.

I'm thinking runestones here. an inanimate object that retains traces of things? people used to record history on them. Loki is a norse god, and there are a lot of rune stones in scandinavia...?

probably a dead end, but.. yeah.

Just a quick note back to the airlines, I was able to find that UA 339, does go from Baltimore to Denver, but then continues on to Seatle, so it does work out right. I was beginning to think maybe theres multiple people on this itinerary. None the less, She leaves after the seatle event and goes to San Jose. Maybe to tell them who the winner is in person?

Damn.

Email her at the vpg address... see if it clicks. If it does... you think the public was supposed to solve this part this soon? Very Happy

Kind of a stretch. Personally, the first thing that popped into my mind when I heard that was the Memory Metal she used in the YouTube video.

Answer to a Question

Someone in the forums stated that Lorelei was probably an answer to the question. Here's what makes that likely:

"When the time is right, I'll ask you a question. For now, follow this trail to get the word it leads to."

yeah, a big stretch - I know. Though there are one or more runes holy to loki, I think it's only a coincidence.

In relation to all that, take a look at the wiki for Loreley, and specifically, this part:

A 13th-century legend entitled Der Marner says that the Nibelung treasure was hidden beneath the rock. The tale may be connected with the myth of Holda, queen of the elves. The queen supposedly sits combing her locks on the Hullenstein, and the man who sees her loses sight of reason, while he who listens is condemned to wander with her for ever.

If you follow up on Nibelung, it has to do with a treasure and Norse mythology...I'm doubting that's a coincidence.
