[HELP] Website/Puzzle Problems Can't get your answer accepted? Try these tricks. We've been having numerous reports of 'the answer for X doesn't work' in chat. Sad to say, the answers are perfectly fine but your connection to the VPG server isn't. However, there are some steps you can take to fix this.
1. Logout then login again.
This is especially true if you enter an answer and the answer box doesn't shake and you get the word 'Other' popping up behind the game screen. While it may say you're logged in, the general consensus is that you really aren't. Logging out and relogging in should fix this.
2. Try a different browser.
I know you all have your favorite browser you love to use, but using another one may just solve your problems. I for one can't even get the games to load at work using Firefox (though Firefox works at home so go figure).
3. Clear out your cache.
Age old trick for getting cranky browsers to do what you want.
4. Try steps 3, 2 and 1
When all else fails, try starting from scratch.
Between steps 1 and 2, you should be able to solve 99% of your problems. While I understand that it is fustrating to not be able to get your answers accepted, all of the answers on the board have been used by a multitude of different people and have been confirmed as working. If you have any further questions, please come by chat or respond in this thread and we'll see what else we can do for you.

Re: [VPG] Puzzle Problems Can't get your answer accepted? Try these tricks. Try entering the code as both lowercase and UPPERCASE. Heck I even entered one as Proper Case.

How many points should you have if you have solved all the puzzles? That can be used to doublecheck whether you got credit for solves that seem to have disappeared. I had some that showed as solved but now are showing as not solved, but I still have 340 points.
edit: and it must be 340 because I just closed the windows and logged in afresh and it is showing all puzzles solved. And the new video.

well it's 10 points for easy, 20 medium, 50 hard; 4 each makes 320, plus 20 for registering. So yup, sounds right, if you haven't referred anyone

I'm posting this in the hope that Ent42 are reading these and fixing bugs. I've got 340 points (which is weird because I've had 2 referels at least) and when i logged out I had half the puzzles marked solved. when I logged back in NONE were marked solved! I went through and re-solved each puzzle and got the message 'you solved this puzzle earlier'. Still none are marked.
The long and that short of it is, that I can't get that end video.
ps thanks to Rowan in the chat room earlier for the log-in log-out trick, it worked great for getting full points

While logging out and back in helps to get the answers accepted,
some of the problems I've had are do to the puzzles not doing what they are supposed to.
During "gears" I had to assemble the pieces about fifteen times before the paper would appear out of the clock,
and with "hourglass" getting them all to run out at the same time caused nothing to happen.
If it wasn't for these boards I wouldn't know anything is wrong and assume I was just missing something, In which case I would never get anywhere.
I hope they fix this for the next round of puzzles.

The answers should work regardless of capitalization. Entering anything in uppercase gives the same effect as in lowercase, and it shouldn't fix any problems anyone is having.
Also, it seems obvious, but check your spelling. Typos are always a hassle.
When you enter a response you are sure is correct, look in the upper left corner for the word "OTHER". If you see this, you'll know for certain it is an issue with the page and not with your personal errors, and logging off/closing the browser usually resolves this problem.

Site logon problems - HELP!!! Cannot get onto vanishing point I wonder if anyone could advise me...
I've been playing Vanishing Point on my work PC during lunchtime etc and its been working fine (XP IE7), an ADSL connection through a switch.
I have a similar setup at home (2 PCs and a laptop through an ADSL router). Only thing is, it refuses to allow me to log onto the site on any machine. I can get the logon box up (with the verify characters box etc) but when I put my details in, it blanks and then asks for the details again.
I've discounted typing errors and at first I thought it was IP address specific (although that seems daft) and setup another account in my wife's name, but that won't allow me to logon either.
No error messages, I've tried Firefox and turned all security/privacy settings right down - all to no avail.
Since I'll be at home when the next box is opened, Its driving me crazy.
Any advice? Many thanks!

We'll see if anyone else smarter than me has suggestions but I'll throw out a couple low tech ideas - updated your Flash? Try again just in case they were doing site maintenance?

Check to make sure their cookie is being set?
[USERID]@www.vanishingpointgame.txt
In the cookies folder for your profile.
Also, possibly
[USERID]@2o7.txt
and/or
[USERID]@cxolyris.cxomedia.txt
If you're using IE, the first one will get rewritten as soon as you login to the site, so you can test that part, too.
edit - grammar police - ad

Re: Site logon problems - HELP!!! Cannot get onto vanishing point Sounds like part of the puzzle is solving why the game won't work on your computer ...

White box score goes to 0 Collection plate and more_answers score goes from 18 to 0 I am writing to see if you can help me solve a problem I am having with this game.
I had finished both the first 2 boxes when I noticed that the white boxes were real, and not just something I thought I saw in the graphics. So I went back and found 18 bweteen boxes 1 and 2. Then I found the collection plate page and it was showing 18 of 36. Cool!
Then when box 3 was unlocked, I ran out and found another 9 white boxes and selected them before the second set of clues was even posted in the pictures. But when I checked my collection plate score it was back to 0 of 36. Un-cool.
I then waited till the rest of the clues came out, and solved box 3. While watching the "bonus" video I saw the more_answers hint, and went to that page. However it still was showing 0 of 48.
My browser dumps all cookies every other night. Is that why I have lost these scores?
I tried using another computer to look, and for a quick second it showed 27 of 36, but then it went right back to 0 when I refreshed, and more_answers still showed 0 of 48.
Can you please help me here, I'm hooked on this game, and would hate to loose any chance because I did something to mess it up.

You haven't lost anything except a reliable login connection. When it reports 0 it's because it can't tell who you are. Glitchy but not fatal.
