2006 Holiday Gift Exchange Last year's exchange thread .
I've set up a group again on Elfster to use. The exchange will have a $25 spending limit. The deadline to sign up is November 30, and all gifts must be received by December 31.
If you are interested, please PM me here (or mail meSPLATaddlepated.net, or catch me on IRC, or AIM addlepated03 or Jabber addlepatedSPLATgmail.com) and let me know so I can add you to the list! I will need your first name and your email address so I can send an invitation.
Just a thought for those who would like to sign up but are concerned about funds, shipping times, and the like.
The $25 gift amount is just a guideline. If someone were to give their recipient a puzzle trail (or similar), I'd think that would be excellent, and well-equivalent to a store-bought gift. As a mom, I know that something from the heart is best. If you would like to do that and don't have web space, I'm happy to donate some. Contact me.
Another excellent suggestion from bags is game swag. How cool would it be if you received a set of LCP chips, for instance? That's free, but to an ARGer has a greater value than lots of store-bought generic stuff.
Additionally, I got a Bits and Pieces catalog in the mail today - they have some really neat puzzly stuff. You could likely drop-ship something from them. I've ordered in the past from Signals catalog and been pleased; they have some neat stuff.
(None of this stuff is meant to be official endorsement or condemnation, just personal experience.)
I'll update this post with who's signed up as it happens.

Additions to what Addle said.
About the Game swag - make sure the person however either played the game or had interest in the swag particular. While it would be great for someone who played LPC to get some swag if they missed out, someone who didn't play and had no interest would be like "what, huh, why?" OR let us say someone had extra CTW2 swag laying around, say a promo comic or something - not everyone would be interested. The great thing about elfster is the ability to ask questions without giving away who you are.
I know personalized puzzle trails are always great gifts around here {not just for sekrit santa time, but birthdays and the like as well}. This is a fun event, and a chance to maybe connect with a fellow ARGer you might nit have spoken with one on one before {after the event of course} and get to know each other - don't let the "price tag" fool you!!!! I may be a greedy thing, but even I know quality is better than quantity!!!
It is fun fun fun!!!

perhaps the few invited who haven't yet answered should be reminded... is there a way to make it more announced? Perhaps ask that it be announced in the next ARGN netcast (might have to extend the signup deadline a few days or a week or something though)

Elfster automatically sent out reminders for those who hadn't answered yet. This is the last call for the exchange, though - it will draw names this evening, so if you want in and you've been waiting until the last minute, now's your chance.

Okay, names have been drawn and participants should be getting an email letting them know who to send a gift to. Have fun! Remember to get your gift to your recipient by 12/31.

A big THANK YOU and a Merry Christmas to thebruce, my Secret Santa! I got a great board game, Da Vinci's Challenge, plus the accompanying card game, that I guess can be played alone or as an expansion pack to the board game. It's all lovely.
I also got a mysterious coded message which I will reprint here because I am a lame codebreaker.
Quote:
"CBBFBDEDD FDBBBCAFDCB FC CBBCFFD FBGFEDD BCABAFBACB E D E EABE FBD B GF AB CACGBD ABGABCGDD E D E CDACBBD FGEFE DCE AEAB BGB BEF ADEGEB BCCFFBFAB BDB DFC" ...all your base...
Have at it, puzzlers!

My recipient's box left here on Monday, so it should be arriving today or tomorrow (promised before Saturday).
I haven't noticed any gift yet (except for Rowan's version of strifey's pr0ncache for us girls - btw, thanks!).

I did get my presents from Krystyn
Very cool!
I got:
A copy of Perfect Circle by Sean Stewart
The Game on DVD
A Magic Rainbow Drawing Board
3 "Brain Benders" wooden puzzles (with instructional DVD).
Also a note from Krystyn making sure I let her "know if that instructional DVD is totally cheesy or not! Hee hee."
Can't wait to put that in the player and see it(After trying my hand at the puzzles, of course).
They're all great, Krystyn!
Thanks!
My recipient's gift won't be leaving till after the actual Christmas holiday.
There have been a few "setbacks", but It's getting there.
And, NO, I didn't procrastinate, for once. That'll learn me.
