For Rabbit Trail, the first letters of the indicated towns give IWBBMPUC

Yes, I would like to echo the request that if you are going to post a solve, at least make the effort to post an explanation/method as well. Just being the first to post the solution is great, but it's not everything...

Sorry ... both were trial and error for me. There was only two possible codes you could make with the Gravity Lock because of the position of the "tumblers".
I stumbled across the answer for the Rabbit Trail at Neowin.

This is one of the clues that appeared in the sky over Los Angeles. It's Braille, obviously, and the site clues spell out A BLANK. The skywriting gave DRAWING, so DRAWING A BLANK.

Nice catch ... couldn't read it from the crappy photos they uploaded.

Drat, beat me to it.

The cards are marked. The wheel in the top left corner has a dot indicating the card's rank (reading clockwise from the top). The quartered circle halfway down the left side indicates its suit.

Taking the number of appearing things as the number and using that to index into what is missing spells SMOKE COMIC:
1 3 Roses
2 1 Moon
3 3 Shoes
4 5 Clocks
5 2 Bells
6 5 Handcuffs
7 1 Owl
8 4 Trumpets
9 2 Birds
10 1 Card
I don't think the number is a phone number - I tried it and 'this subscriber is not accepting calls' was the message.
it's not 10 '1 card', it should be 10 '3 cards'
AND, SO WHAT IS 'SMOKE COMIC'?

I don't think so; I think doublecross is right. There are five cards at the bottom before the disappearance, and six afterwards. The new card does happen to be a 3, but we're told that the key is "HOW MANY"
Edit: Except that evidently I am wrong, and it is an R after all.
