Email Phyllis and Group of 3 "STG" Teenagers

Dear Sunny,
This oddest thing happened. Well, not odd compared to mysterious beings
materializing in the Pine Barrans, but odd compared to normal life. A little
past eight, I heard a incessant knocking on the shop door. It was well after closing time so I leaned out of the entrance to the dining room and saw three teenagers standing at the door. I thought, perhaps, their car had broken down or there was some other kind of emergency so I went to the door and spoke to them through the glass.

They appeared to be on the cusp of adulthood, late teens, early twenties, all affected style and effected swagger. A girl with the Goth-look Patti likes and two boys. They appeared harmless enough and when the girl said, "Pretty please, Mrs. Willingham, we've come such an awful long way and we know it's late but we've heard such great things about the Hollow Needle. Just let us in for a little while."

One of the boys was craning his neck trying to get a better look at the items in the back of the shop and looked genuinely eager. The other one took a pose of non-chalance and was fiddling with a small hand hand-device. It wasn't a cell phone and it made me curious, so I let them in. (I know, I know, you're all yelling, Phyllis how could you? They could be punks or aliens? But, I somehow felt they were safe.)

As the last boy dawdled in, I got a look at the device in his hand. It was
yellow and had a logo that said "DeLorne" or something like that. The other two had gone to different parts of the store and were just running their hands over things with a strange look of bliss on their faces. Once inside, the boy with the device dropped his pose and exclaimed, "Wow, look the famous floating maiden!" The other two rushed to his side and they all oohed and ahhed.

I waited patiently as I always do with customers although I knew they couldn't afford anything in the shop. The more eager of the two boys introduced himself, belatedly, "I'm Brian," and stuck out his hand. Now, you do all know this is improper; a gentleman always waits for a lady to offer her hand first. So, I said, "You can't stay long. I've had a trying few days and need my rest."

I noticed he was wearing a T-shirt with a rather fabulous logo spelling out the letters, "STG." He dropped his hand awkwardly but pressed on in his puppy dog fashion, "We're just dying to see the old trunk and what was inside it, the one from the Library."

The girl piped up, "We've heard ever so much about it. You know the painting and the manuscript page."

Perplexed, I told her gently, "They're gone, my dear, stolen. Haven't you heard about the burglary?" They all looked shocked and rolled their eyes at each other. The girl shook her head and looked utterly flustered and whined, "We've been traveling all around, searching for this place. We've been so obsessed, so focused on this damn gah, er, adventure of ours that we haven't kept up. Er, I mean, with the news here." She had become progressively more flustered and clearly caught herself from saying something she shouldn't. She started to ramble some more but Brian cut her off, stage-whispering, "Jill, Jill, the, ah, NDA." And she jerked around and glared at him for interrupting her and gave him a look of long suffering as though he had accused her of idiocy. I noticed that her pack back also had a "STG" logo on it and wondered if it were a club of some kind.

Jill looked back at me and said, "I'm sorry that we bothered you. I guess," and she rolled her eyes at Brian, "We should be going."

I asked them, point-blank, "Why are you here, really? What is this about?"

They headed out the door saying, "Sorry" and "We gotta go." The last one out the door, the boy with the device, paused and said, "Excuse me, Mrs.
Willingham? Which way is it to Diana's Grove? We gotta see that. Is it West? South? Southwest?" I replied, "Southwest, I'm certain." As they strolled down the drive toward the street, the last boy turned back and called, "You're cool, you know. Not as mean as I thought."

Now, I ask you, isn't that odd? Whatever did it mean? Well, I've had enough for one day and I'm going to be in the master suite with the door locked when
Douglas gets home.

Love,
Phyllis

How would they know the name of the candy dish is "the floating maiden"
unless they read the mbs? That was my name for it...

Think that the girl was going to say focused on this damn game....

The girl shook her head and looked utterly flustered and whined, "We've been traveling all around, searching for this place. We've been so obsessed, so focused on this damn gah, er, adventure of ours that we haven't kept up. Er, I mean, with the news
>here."

and when the boy said remember the NDA

This is such a kick in the pants and delightful to boot Smile I want to be those kids, they managed to get into Aglaura! And they met Phyllis! As ElderofZion said, the PMs are blurring the lines of reality. I think it's good and fun Smile

Another possibility for STG:
Scholarly Technology Group of Brown University.
http://www.stg.brown.edu/

Apparently they helped guide and assist The Interpreting Ancient Manuscripts web.
http://www.earlham.edu/~seidti/iam/interp_mss.html

I'm not suggesting this is it, but it's hard to imagine a Goth Band logo on a backpack (unless she did it herself), wheras I can see a group such as techies having monikered backpacks. And they were interested in the manuscript/trunk. And Brown University is in RI.

I really doubt this is it as they are not "directly" involved with the Ancient Manuscript web....only technical I think. (Maybe we're not even meant to read anything into it.)

If anything STG may be a "game site" of some sort.
Sabertooth Games?
