[White District] Deep Cover [SOLVED]

White District - External Intelligence Building

Deep Cover

War wages abroad. As the William Alexander Mabus of the United Myriad Nations works to push back the enigmatic Abdallah leader of the Occident Jihad, it becomes increasingly important for Defensecorp's External Intelligence to monitor the situation abroad should the conflict turn Westward, lest we fail to maintain our supreme neutrality. This is a random sample from the database. Using this data please act as a blind check for integrety cross-reference with the automatic record log.

Followed by co-ordinates

N041°006'029.1312 E029°004'012.1638
N052°033'006.1176 E013°023'008.8983
N031°049'037.2873 E035°011'038.8356
N051°010'041.4703 W004°039'053.8103
N030°003'011.2525 E031°012'005.7824
N041°042'033.2999 E044°047'034.6021
N045°020'016.3001 E036°027'030.2452
N034°029'045.8444 E069°004'048.9394

Using google maps (I haven't got google earth) I get:

Istanbul
Berlin
West Bank
Lundy
Cairo
Georgia
Kerch
Afghanistan

My best gueses have been wrong, I'm going for capitals

Istanbul
Berlin
West Bank - Jerusalem
Lundy
Cairo
Georgia - Tbilisi
Kerch (This is the trickiest one, its not near a capital apart from rostov on the russia side)
Afghanistan - Kabul

I've have tried this and been incorrect so far...

Well, I got another solve on this one, but not as good as it could have been.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Putting in the name of the countries found by using the coordinates gave me an accepted result, but it "wasn't as close as we might have liked", according to the people on the other side.

England?

Hi All,

I know that we at least have a solution that works in line with the interface for this task, (but as I wasted a hell of a lot of time and credits on this puzzle, despite it appearing to be a simple puzzle to solve), I feel I have to point out that according to the website that I have used (www.mapquest.com), the answer to part 4 should either be Belgium or Holland/Netherlands.

I state that it could be either of these as the point that is plotted is quite close to the border which they share.

Surely I am not the only one that holds this belief, or tried this solve???

Just so that I know I am not missing something incredulously obvious, can someone explain to me how this point managed to cross the English Channel and slip in past Customs, with their heightened alert level?

The reason I am asking is that I have noticed a couple of flaws with the answers that are accepted, albeit too early and too few of them to make any kind of connection as of yet.

Thanks in advance for any help that may come forward,

SM

You have noticed that in point 4 the second coord is given in W degrees not E right?

That's the only coordinate where they pull this trick. I think that might be why you find yourself in holland instead of england... ofcourse i could be horribly wrong.

Perhaps...

What about provinces, or whatever the equivalent is for the country?

Istanbul/Marmara Region
Brandenburg
Cisjordania/West Bank
Torridge
Al Jizah (? they're not marked in google maps)
Tbilisi/T'bilisi (Can't find a bigger division)
Crimea (again)
Kabul

Another Idea...

Also, Hi, I'm new here.

I asked ADPrince for help, and he asked for which CITIES (emphasis mine) did I enter, so he could cross-check; I believe this to be quite the reason to try to find the right answer

Kropp has been a good help; he has given me a hand with this: He confirms it's cities (in order to get "good" karma), and he has given me a few of the correct cities:
>>>N041°006'029.1312", E029°004'012.1638"(Istanbul)
>>>N052°033'006.1176", E013°023'008.8983"(Berlin)
>>>N031°049'037.2873", E035°011'038.8356"(Jerusalem)
>>>N051°010'041.4703", W004°039'053.8103"(Lundy)
>>>N041°042'033.2999", E044°047'034.6021"(T'bilisi)
>>>N045°020'016.3001", E036°027'030.2452"(Kerch)
UNCONFIRMED:
N041°042'033.2999", E044°047'034.6021"(???) (This is actually above as T'bilisi, so I guess it's N030°003'011.2525 E031°012'005.7824); I sent him Cairo, Al Qairah, and Al Jizah (and they're apparently wrong)
N034°029'045.8444", E069°004'048.9394"(???) idem above for Kabul

Did AD say that the cities names are correct..... Are we sure it is Istanbul not Constantinople (why they changed it I can't say...some people just like it better that way) Laughing

*sorry couldn't resist*

But those 2 other ones are tricky.

Try Pul-i-Alam instead of Kabul (thats possibly the nearest city when I was looking at a location and map seperately) Sorry looked it up on a differnet source. Its definitely Kabul... but if we're going with antiquity names than Kabul = Chabolo

And as for Egypt, try Alexandria or Giza(<best bet I think)

All of the names are current (It's Istanbul, NOT Constantinople).

I've done a few attempts with Giza/Gizeh and Kabul, to no avail.

One of the apparent solutions (for Kabul) seems to be Chahar Dehi, which is almost exactly below the pointer in Google Earth. I've got a fair share of credits, so you can just tell me which options to try.

[EDIT]
Locations verified, thank you for your input

You have received negative Karma.
You have received 6 Prestige.

You have received 190 Credits

I hadn't actually used Giza...

It's, then:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Istanbul
Berlin
Jerusalem
Giza
Lundy
T'bilisi
Kerch
Chahar Dehi

I used Google Earth to find these, and came up with pretty much the same list as you guys. Tried it, no go. Tried the list you have on here, no go. I have lost almost 300 credits trying to figure out if I entered something in wrong. Did I miss something?
