EMAIL: Iris and what happened today (07/15)

Hello all of you people out there. My, there are more of you writing to me every day. You are all so very interesting and I must tell you that I am greatly enjoying reading all that you have to say.

I have decided that I should just go ahead and give in to the temptation to
update you all on the events of the day with a bulk email, as you have
suggested. If you have any questions for me or whatever, I will continue to answer those personally, but otherwise I shall stick to these bulk things. I find it is easier to make a personal email when I have something to talk about, you know?

Now, today was rather a disappointment. I arrived at the house this morning having neither slept nor eaten well. I swear both just hold no appeal for me anymore. There is so much to do and so much happening that I find myself obsession all day and night about what might be happening and how I might deal with this that and the other thing.

After trying to make contact with the spirits and energies in the house to no avail, I asked Phyllis if she had kept anything that had belonged to Sarah, but unfortunately the answer was no. After a moment or two she remembered seeing a statue in the local art exhibit, one that was owned by Wes Keeler and which she was fairly sure lived at his shop.

Thank god for Phyllis's bear-trap of a mind! I do not know what I would do without her knowledge of the area and the people. If only I could have
someone like her with me all the time. Anyway, we headed over to the Emporium of the Weird to get the statue from Wes. Can I just tell you that the name truly fits that store? I would not be surprised to learn that in and amongst all of the kitschy aliens, conspiracy theory books and all the other mumbo jumbo, Wes had monkey hands, rare dried frogs for voodoo and whatever else anyone who walks along the fringes of 'normal' society might need.

Wes seemed surprised to see us, but as always, he greeted us and tried to
charm the pants off of us with his sweet temperament and ready smile. I do not know why Wes thought we would go to the police, but that was his biggest concern, it seems. He kept asking over and over if we had not and would not tell anyone. I just don't understand why he is so worried. Why would he care if anyone knew what happened out there? It is not as if we were doing anything illegal, well, we were trespassing, but really, no one is going to jail us for that!

I am afraid I got into Wes's face today and told him exactly what I thought of the adventure he took us on. I swear I am so tired of people refusing to give me the information I need, like, oh I don't know, that inter-dimensional travelers who may or may not be evil may find us and threaten us. Gee, don't you all agree that it would have been nice to know that ahead of time? Perhaps I could have brought a cake to ease the meeting and try to garner some pleasant feelings, but no, I was not allowed the knowledge and hence, no cake! Sorry for the rant, but I really think Wes is holding out a LOT of information. Heck, he admitted as much.

Luckily he was less reticent about loaning Phyllis and I the statue. I think
he knew that I would not be leaving without the item and I think he just
wanted to save himself the pain I would have inflicted upon his person.

Lunch at the Aglaura Diner took much too long, what with all the locals coming up to report every strange dream, odd smell and unusual phenomenon happening within their homes and even out on the streets. As much as the attention is flattering, celebrity is not my cup of tea and so we ate and left as quickly as we could manage without appearing rude, though I thought Phyllis would have rather we left even before that, what with the people asking her about her husband and the trial.

I had hoped that the moment I laid my hands upon that piece of work, something would have come to me, but all I got were distant, faint impressions of Sarah. I have a feeling that it has been held by other people so often that her energy has been overlaid by theirs. It was not until we got into the room with the bleeding artwork that anything of much note occurred. It was in that room that I got a vision which I will attempt to describe here.

I suddenly saw the young girl I believe to be Sarah Wyatt. She was inside
somewhere, in a room I did not recognize. Sarah was holding a crude, perhaps even hand-made, drawing tablet in her hands, looking at the drawings upon the pages. They looked too well-done and complicated to have been done by someone as young as her. The tablet was filled with a combination of sketches of people and technical looking drawings, with shapes, hand written measurements and notes. As I tried to see what else was in the tablet, I heard loud rhythmic talking or chanting coming from outside. Sarah seemed to react to this and I ran over to the small window, but I couldn't see much through it. It was dark outside and just for a brief moment I thought I saw a collection of people, figures, and shapes, dark as they stood in front of a fire, silhouetted by the light. Sarah stood mesmerized for several moments as she watched, having moved to look out the window as well. When the chanting stopped, the figures separated and one of them came towards the building Sarah and I were in. She turned as the door opened and a tall, robed and hooded figure entered and started to pull back his hood. Sarah jumped up and down a
few times and said, "Daddy!" This is sadly where the vision ended.

I awoke to find Phyllis asking me what I had seen. As I described it Phyllis, she seemed amazed and did not know who the man in the statue was supposed to be. We attempted to reach Wes, but he was not answering his phone and we were frankly too hungry to bother trying to track him down.

I went back to work at the Willingham's after dinner and will fill you in on
what happened in my next email.

Iris
