[NEVEC][INTERACTION] Alfred Alan

As the Alfred conversations have begun to shine new light on the ARG, it is time to make it's own thread. Post any interesting conversations with Alfred that you think may be helpful!

These are the conversations that contain the first known hidden text from Alfred. The bold text was white in the YIM, making it hard to find. After receiving these message and going "offline", Alfred IM'd blackhawk the word "Closely". Sadly enough, we discovered it before given the clue. We think it is because Alfred knew that hawk would need a little help... Very Happy
Quote:
argodaemon: Hello Alfred, long time no see!
alfredalannevec: hello sir
argodaemon: Poor Phil, I think you are going to give him a stroke.
alfredalannevec: I very nearly did with Chocolate Bomb
alfredalannevec: he needs a rest - we all do
argodaemon: he thought he was being smart...
argodaemon: but you are smarter
alfredalannevec: for now when one door closes
argodaemon: he must not be at the office too much for you to be able to plant the chocolate all the time? Does he take extended lunches or something?
alfredalannevec: He's one of those people who has a pretty specific schedule - always takes lunch at 12 - goes for a run at 3 - never in before 8, but never later than 8:15
argodaemon: ha, he exercises at work?
alfredalannevec: we have showers there is more I can't share now
argodaemon: ah
argodaemon: How's Akemi the demon cat doing? Staying out of trouble I hope?
alfredalannevec: he just walked by actually - he ran his drills for the night
alfredalannevec: so he is calm right now
argodaemon: for all the destrution he causes when you are at work, it must be hell to control him when you are home.
alfredalannevec: He loves me when I am home
alfredalannevec: I think he just misses me when I am out
argodaemon: Do you have a webcam at your place? It might be a good idea to keep an I on the cat at work. If you know what he gets into, you may be able to prevent it a little more.
alfredalannevec: I just bought a door jam
alfredalannevec: so that I can lock him in the bathroom better
alfredalannevec: hopefully that will solve the problem
argodaemon: haha, sad you have to do that to a cat
alfredalannevec: he gets run of the house when I am home
alfredalannevec: and I am hopinf he grows out ofit
argodaemon: I don't own a cat (slight allergy) but I know that they will... It just takes a LONG time.
alfredalannevec: yup - I must show the utmost patience
argodaemon: Your patience seems to be running a little slim at the workplace lately...
alfredalannevec: Too much to do in too short a time
alfredalannevec: but we will push forward and hopefully make our deadline
alfredalannevec: I just am figuring there will not be much Christmas vacation this year
alfredalannevec: which is sad
alfredalannevec: Sad My time is running short
argodaemon: Atleast your christmas shopping is done... more then I can say.
alfredalannevec: hehehe - I should get going
alfredalannevec: havea good night
argodaemon: goodnight!

Blackhawk127 had this conversation snippet:
Quote:
blackhawk: so have you found a way to tie down that demon cat
blackhawk: any new havoc caused
Alfred Alan: I bought a door jam It's getting strange around here
blackhawk: that should minimize problems

CrackerJak had this response about Office Space:
Quote:
Alfred Alan: yup - great movie I think someone is watching me

Someone is watching him... Also, considering he says he can't say more after inquiring about Phil means that Phil plays a larger part to come later. Jogging at 3PM is a good excuse to leave the office with Alfred's keys...
Also, he infers that Akemi doesn't cause any destruction when he is home. So it is probably someone else and the cat is the scape goat (or scape cat).

Alfred Alan (12/21/2006 10:35:26 AM): sometimes it is all that keeps me sane
Chris A (12/21/2006 10:36:15 AM): Yes...
Alfred Alan (12/21/2006 10:37:20 AM): remeber to keep your eyes on that second door, because endings are often just passages to other things
Chris A (12/21/2006 10:37:43 AM): good advice... i will remeber that
Alfred Alan (12/21/2006 10:38:20 AM): I should go - time is of the essence these days
Chris A (12/21/2006 10:38:22 AM): yes

Chris A (12/21/2006 10:39:40 AM): may I ask what you are working on?
Alfred Alan (12/21/2006 10:39:58 AM): thermalregulator.com - a version of this device
Alfred Alan (12/21/2006 10:40:22 AM): otherwise the long haul is too long

The hidden message appear as white text. All you would have to do is select all the text in the YIM. That way, it inverts the colors and the text will be visible. If you did a copy/paste to this forum, then it would have made the text visible as well.

It is this way that I found the text before. Was copy/pasting to the IRC and then was like, "WTF? Shocked Don't remember that... GASP!"

Nice work on finding that quote. I knew I had heard it somewhere before... Anyway, now the question arrises as to whether he is talking literally about the physical or the metaphorical door. Sounds metaphorical-ish to me.

perhaps not the end of the ARG?

blackhawk, in another thread, seems to think that the ARG will not end with the January 11th pre-release party in San Francisco.

This is probably why:
Quote:
glitterbook (12/22/2006 1:54:46 AM): Aw, I wish I could crash the party. Heh.
glitterbook (12/22/2006 1:57:21 AM): And in the beginning, there were some ones
Alfred Alan (12/22/2006 1:57:42 AM): I wish you could too.
Alfred Alan (12/22/2006 1:57:54 AM): I want lots of friends there
Alfred Alan (12/22/2006 1:58:05 AM): I need lots of friends there
Alfred Alan (12/22/2006 1:58:08 AM): tell friends
Alfred Alan (12/22/2006 1:58:11 AM): please
glitterbook (12/22/2006 1:58:20 AM): I've already told a bunch of friends.
Alfred Alan (12/22/2006 2:00:15 AM): This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning
glitterbook (12/22/2006 2:00:26 AM): It's like it's November all over again.

I've bolded the relevant bit (which is also the Churchill speech quote), which I believe was messaged to most or all of Alfred's pals as I was chatting with him. We continued to talk about our cats for a while, and then he had to go. No sekrit messages for me, heh.

So, it seems like NeoVenus will continue on beyond the release of Lost Planet.
