SPEC: Pre Wish milieu

Let me go through my recent thoughts with you to see if this triggers thought. I'm trying to not draw conclusions, but keep in the factual realm.

Prior to Dale's Wish and Diana & Meaghan's death, here's how things were going:
Dale was in debt to the Marzanos and couldn't pay. He was being harrassed by them.
Diana was visiting the Marzanos but we're not clear if it's Don or Sal, are we?
Diana and Dale had been on the outs, apparently. Nonetheless, she was pregnant.

Then, with the intervention of the Wish:
    Diana is dead.
Dale has enough money to theoretically pay off the Marzanos.

But, Don Marzano initiates contact with Dale and meets with him and Bruce, as well as having present the DEG ("Dead Eyed Guys").
He then:
Acknowledges the existence of the Wish
    Forgives Dale the money
Wants Dale to bring the Wish to him.

So it brings me back to that first cluster of ideas - the independent relationships of Dale and Diana with the Marzano family, and how the Wish screwed it all up.
What was going on (was Don trying to accomplish something else by making Dale beholden to him?)
How has it been changed now that there's no debt and no Diana?
Why is the Don still involved?
Who got Diana pregnant (and I'm not thinking Bruce right now) - Sal? Don?

We may not have enough of the story to fill in the spaces, but I was thinking about how we've strayed far from the original tale and I began to speculate on why it all began...

I have thinking about the relationship or lack thereof between Bruce and Diana. From the first I thought that they did indeed have an affair and was perterbed that he wasnt acting like he just lost a loved one.
I have come to the idea that the reason why he wasnt as torn up as I thought he should be is that they were NOT lovers. That is the only reason for my spec. not unless Bruce is a cold sociopath Twisted Evil lellelelele

One of the people I contacted around Father's Day was Bruce. After reading one of Sunny's (I think it was Sunny, Lellellelel) replies from Dale on remembering to think of him on Father's day, I contacted Agatha and Bruce about collecting some copis of pictures with Diana in them, pointing out that because of the fire he may have lost all of his. Agatha said she would look, but Bruce asent me a slightly snippy letter saying
in no uncertain terms he didn't know me from adam, and if Dale wanted pictures he would have to ask for them himself.

Now I wonder, I think Bruce is torn up, and he doesn't want to go look at the pictures of Diana, but if Dale asked for them he would out of friendship. Of course it is difficult to read facial expressions and tone of voice in e-mail... just my two wooden cents....

Bruce & Diana

Many of you know about "Heather's" relationship with Bruce, so I feel I have a pretty good handle on this topic.

Bruce & Diana & Dale all met each other in college. Bruce was the best man at their wedding, and was there when Meaghan was born (he & Dale were business partners at that time).

Well, do you blame him? He gets an email from a stranger who seems to know intimate details about his friends? He's a very cautious person; it took quite a number of emails before he trusted "Heather" as a friend.

Bruce is NOT a cold sociopath.

But now he is getting very confused, and a little scared, what with mysterious bumper stickers, people following him, a weird fortune teller, and strange dreams.

I say we get him a book of E tickets for the rides at AGP, so he can have a little fun...
Very Happy

I'm thinking primarily about the relationship that included Dale/Don/Diana - and was Sal (or another Marzano) the one that got Diana pregnant.

Diana didn't know about Dale's debt? Then why was she going to the Marzano's?

The Marzano family clearly knew that Diana was a fixture there, and knew of Dale, and knew of the existence of the Wish - but perhaps didn't expect its intervention.

What, then, did the Wish screw up...? It certainly doesn't appear that he facilitated Don's plan. What, then, was his plan...?

Oooh, I just had a wicked thought---what if it wasn't Don's plan, but Diana's? Maybe she made a Wish too: "I wish my husband could figure out a way to solve his problems" or similar.

If Diana was on the committee to remodel the library, the meetings could have been legit. I suspect there was more to their relationship though.

I just can't see Diana having anything to do with Sal....at least not willingly. Sal is stupid and crass. If she was having an affair with a Marzano then I think it was with the Don.

If you'll look at the email from angie here...only don and frank ever met with diana.

"About Diana. I remember now. She would come in to have a late lunch or something, but only when Uncle Don was there. Sometimes Frank would join them."

So I personally don't see Sal in the picture. But then again what do I know?

Sorry Kona mousie I was just saying that for the effect of it has to be that Him and Diana were really just friends and that for him to be a sociopath is ludicris that is wht the lelelelles were for lelelellelelel!
I am really glad that you posted this though cause it further proves my point that since he is a caring man then if he really had an affair with Diana that he would be much more torn up about it.

Thanks, phensley, that helps me a lot. I'm trying to not overlook possibilities, but I also know that we have to work with what we have. So... although Frank could be the father, it's starting to look like either Don (or Bruce, really) could be the father.

Bruce, of course, would be unaware that he'd gotten Diana pregnant. That would be consistent with his response to her death - and not an overwrought "but my child!!!!!" reaction.

Following these lines of reasoning made me think that the Wish didn't screw up, he just combined 2 wishes. What if the Don met Diana during the library renovations, had an affair and got Diana pregnant, and he found out about it. He made a wish to "get rid of the problem" (but not realizing it would kill Diana). Dale made his wish and the two were combined to solve both problems. Perhaphs using two wishes from two people cancels out the memory loss? Question The Don remembers the Wish realizes what happens and wants to confront the Wish. Since the Don is someone who gets what he wants he figures Dale will help him (wiping out his debt) and maybe get Diana back? Question

I've been gone for a while and still catching up, but this just came to me as I was reading this topic and I wanted to get this out before I lost my thought.

Dianas Preganancy

Lets take a look at Dianas charecter for a moment here. Everyone that has said anything about Diana has said that she was a wonderful human being. She was giving of her time and intellect to others and Aglaura. Phyllis said that she hoped she had the same patrician quality that Diana had.
I am going to take a leap here and say that Diana was probably an ethical woman. It stands to reason all that she did while she was there.
She does not sound like the adulterous kind.
I think the baby is Dales

You're overlooking the marital strain however..
One of the first things to go out the window, when a couple is having trouble is sex.

No sex = no baby. If a baby does enter the equation, and hubby hasn't been getting any from his missus. Then the missus has been getting it somewhere else.

Don't confuse public masks with private ones. A person can be gregarious and well liked in public and be a real creep in private.

Still think that Bruce is a prime suspect in the shagging of Diana..
