Hmmm, this is an interesting one, the letters "M" and "E" are in bold, and I am just about to take a screenshot of the swirling "sentance" towards the end of the video, which is "in the distance", I think there will be one more then that will be it, we can solve the riddle, incidently when you see this, I think the last bit at the end has something to do with a compass, as the words go round, and finally stop at South, that's my guess anyway, lets crack this puzzle Very Happy

A couple of other things I have noticed

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
When I stand up and watch the first bit, the right hand side of the screen when the percentage sign keeps spliting up, the line joins the bottom circle, and an "M" appears at the start, as if the word "MOD" appears on the screen, below this there are 4 dots, and a picture of the Key from Key Square

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
At the end when the words are coming up in a "compass" like style, I don't think they are words in the distance, just lines, in a 4-8-4 style could be some sort of code, or just a line Laughing

and flying
it was not
as i expected
i thought there
would be wind
a sense of motion
exhilaration
it was a box with
blinking lights
and plastic
sealed food
this is the moral
i suppose
if you travel
fast enough
it feels the same
as standing still
but nonetheless
there were fluffy
clouds like
whipped desert
outside the
window
i wondered what
it would be like
to touch them
---
i had put the cube in the bag before my journey. a bag of the correct size was waiting for me in the hotel room, of course. at the airport, all bags had to be passed through a machine to examine the contents. i felt suddenly afraid, with that same fear. someone will see it, someone will know, someone will say 'the cube! stop thief!' i placed the bag onto the conveyor belt. there was no shout, no attack. i glimpsed the screen showing an image of my bag. it showed an assortment of objects within, just like everyone else's.
---
in a distant place i was met by another car the driver was holding a board with my name written on it on the back seat there was an envelope with my name and a shovel.

Babel

Also, during the first section, with the one armed bandit type display, there's a section off to the right.

This morphs into

Then into

mod
with four dots below it and then below that the key symbol as seen in pathways.

This repeates several times

mod

The letters mod don't seem to be in line with the dots. I went back to pathways and nothing had changed (just thought it might have meant that pathways was modified).

Unless the four dots refer to the four points around the key towards the end of pathways.

I thought this looked more like a clock, especially the way the arms are sweeping round. Also looked like hangman style letter spacing.

Tell me if I am supposed to spoiler this and I'll go back and edit my threads - didn't think the other CT threads were...

This seems to be a lesson in how to present information in as many eye-watering ways as possible! My neck hurts.

Some random musings, the first section uses a caesar shift to display the message, cycling between each section. I can't work out whether it might be vigenere...from the position of the wheel each time it should be possible to reverse it in order to find the key shouldn't it? Is that what's referred to by "mod"?

The second stage with the frankly annoying helix reminds me of another encryption method with message in a strip wrapped around a cylinder, but I think that's just me being hypnotised. The words are written in triplets of characters, adding to the fun of reading, and I think that you get three sets of three in each full rotation.

I may be jumping the gun but does "in a distant place" finally put down the ideas of New York, or anywhere else with yellow taxis?

Who are these guys that he's meeting? There're plenty of them.

No need to spoiler mrsE...it's something that didn't require any solving that wouldn't ruin things for somebody if they wanted to try the puzzle for themselves.

distant place

"In a distant place" makes me think that even if the cube transported him to New York he's now somewhere else altogether.

Maybe you're on to something Mikeyj. DNA is a helical structure, albeit a double helix, and the bases that make up DNA are in threes, known as a codon or triplet. They form amino acids which form proteins. I'm not sure where this leads us though.... perhaps to where DNA was discovered? Watson and Crick are generally credited with the discovery in Cambridge University and got the Nobel Prize as a result. However it was also simultaneously discovered by Rosalind Franklin at King's College, London only she died before the Nobel Prize was awarded....

... I may be going off on a tangent here. Confused .... but it would put the Cube back in England again.

I thought the helix might be the plane landing. Am obviously simplifying it but I was thinking of the way they stack the planes up before they land.

I did just check the amino acid abbreviations (they all have three letter abbreviatinos, for those that have never come acoss this in biology) and there's nothing there that rings true. Thought maybe mod or vel (from shovel, the bit you can almost click on) might have been one (am a bit rusty!) but no luck.

Just in case anyone spots anything http://www.bio.davidson.edu/Courses/Molbio/aatable.html

helix

and there's an image on the home page of King's College of a double helix but that could be stretching it a bit.....

Ive just checked each of the 3 letter/symbols which appear on the helix against those on the Amino Acid Abbreviations, hoping to get some sort of match, but none of the 3 letter combinations link with those shown on the page mrsE put up.

Im thinking that "M" and "E" being highlighted in the first part could be linked possibly, their ammino acid codes are:

Methionine - Met - M
Glutamic Acid - Glu - E

Nothing for "O" or "D" however Sad

clock

This may be a red herring, but the clock at the end spins 12 times. I wonder if this means that it's a 12 hour flight away from New York or if it has no meaning and is just because of the number of words??

With the helix part of my post I only meant to describe it (mainly for those poor linux users who can't see CT's sites of whom I'm normally one).

A helix does immediately bring to mind DNA, but I'm not sure how useful it is in this case. The triplets I mentioned above include punctuation, which makes them tricky in respect of DNA or AA code Wink

Nothing in the helical portion is highlighted as being different from any other part of the message, but the bold M and E in the first section and the orientation of the words in the final section might be easier to get our teeth into.
